1. New Dell 14R has intel HD 3000 (Like new MBP's)

Im glad you were able to get this work. I gave up on my N4010 and bought a white 09 unibody macbook for 545$ on ebay! It was in very good condition and came with free shipping & apple care till 2013 so I couldnt pass it up.
2. Looks like the new Dell 14R's (n4110) comes with the new sandy bridge chipset which is the same chipset as the new 13" macbook pro. Its more than likely that because the intel 3000 HD is in this model, that the graphics should work. I have a dell 14R with the arrandale chipset which does work with OSX but qe/ci is not supported and from what I can tell, may not ever be :-/.
3. Im able to boot with (busratio=19 cpus=2). Im hoping with that it is actually using both cores.
4. I realized that person who created the post already had this working so I hope this just provides some further info. I also realized that after I installed iAtkos, my windows partition no longer booted and i would get a bluescreen of death. I think the bootloader for windows was wiped out so. I couldnt repair it so I had to reisntall windows and then OSX stopped booting so I reinstalled it without a bootloader this time which resolved the issue and I can boot into windows now with mac osx installed too. Im updating the post from OSX using an airlink 101 usb card. Ill continue to update as I find more things out.
5. N4010 + iAtkos S3 v2 + ##### = WORKING! I just bought N4010 (inspron 14r) computer for $399 and successfuly got OSX installed using iAtkos S3 v2 (10.6.3). my N4010 specs: i3 2.5GHZ m380 CPU 200GB HD (cant remember speed) intel wifi atheros ethernet multitouch trackpad. I was able to get the iAtkos cd to boot using busratio=19. From iAtkos I installed the chameleon bootloader, the qoopz 10.3.0 kernel, atheros ethernet driver. For video I just checked 'intel'. After the install was complete I got 'boot0: error'. I resolved this by using an ##### DVD i had created earlier, but I dont see why I had to do this because i installed the chameleon bootloader but o well. So I have to keep the cd in my computer until i find an alternative. I could not get it to boot without using cpus=1. What was weird though is that the first time i started the computer with ##### I did not have to use any commands but when it was going through the setup process I told it to take a picture from my camera which locked up the setup process and when I rebooted I then had to use cpus=1. So if you get as far as i did, choose a picture from the selection provided. ALSO.. when it first booted the mic was working because I could hear strong feedback starting at the apple logo and spinning gear. whats working and whats not: -Sound OUT = WORKING! -Microphone = detected but not working? -Multitouch trackpad = WORKING!!! both up and down and left to right (using two fingers). This is working better than it does in windows 7?! WTF?! -Video = WORKING! no qe/ci yet -RAM = FULLY RECOGNIZED (including proper speed) -Ethernet = RECOGNIZED ( havnt tested yet) -Wireless = NOT RECOGNIZED. -Bluetooth = NOT RECOGNIZED. -Camera = Detected BUT NOT WORKING (im guessing a driver is all that is needed. -Battery = Status is at %0 all the time. -Power Button = WORKS! provides shutdown sleep options - Media Buttons (volume, play, skip) = WORKING. - Battery = Recognized and provides pretty accurate battery readings. I believe i choose the intel power management or some other power management option from the iAtkos DVD. -Sleep = will go to sleep kind of. The screen does not shut off even if you close the lid and the only way to wake it up appears to be to press the power button and release or just try pressing a bunch of keys but all in all I would avoid putting it to sleep. -SD Card reader = WORKING -estata = NOT TESTED - HDMI = NOT WORKING (recognized as digital out?) Ill keep you guys posted as I work on it more. All of the stuff above is working or not working with the default iAtkos DVD, no additional kexts were loaded after the install so its possible to get alot more stuff working.
6. Update 4.18.2011 - I wanted to inform anyone who looked at this page that the graphics ship in this dell 14r n4010 is NOT the intel HD 3000 which is on the new 'sandy bridge' cpus, it is simply 'intel HD GMA', the last model right before the HD 3000. the 'intel GMA HD' IS NOT SUPPORTED under OSX and you will not be able to use qe/ci. Dell does now have Dell 14R's with the intel HD 3000 starting at $599. I think I may sell this laptop so I can buy that one instead as the graphics card is definitly supported. Or maybe call dell and ask them if I could trade it :-/... hmmm With this current 14R, almost everything on the mac side works, including multi-touch track pad, sd card, media buttons, battery monitoring (with right driver), usb ports and digital out. What was not working was true sleep, qe/ci, and the wifi card. Update 04.15.2011 - So I did finaly get the laptop and I have to say its not bad for $399. - So ive confirmed that the customer OSX dvd's that I have do not work with this laptop. There may be commands I could try but I do not think they will work with such a new chipset. - I did try the retail copy of snow leopard w/ ##### and it did in fact boot buuuut i think the dvd copy I have is damaged because it gets stuck when loading a certain file so I need to get a new copy which may take some time. - I found out that the model name of the laptop is N4010 and that there is already a post on the site for this laptop so I will continue any furture updates on under that post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...30602&st=40 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So i just found this computer and will be purchasing in about an hour or so. http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-14r-comb...n-14r-combo-mod Here are the specs for this laptpop (DELL 14R) Processor Intel® CoreTM i3 380M (2.53GHz/3MB cache) Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Display 14.0" High Definition (720p) LED Display with TrueLife™ Memory2 2GB2 Single Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz Hard Drive 250GB3 hard drive (5400RPM) Optical Drive 8X CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive) - w/ Roxio Burn 1.0 Warranty 1 Year Limited Hardware Warranty (Shipping included 24x7 phone support) Weight 4.96 lbs. it also comes with a 1.3 MP web cam. apple sells there baseline macbook for $999. This computer comes with a faster processor, same amount but faster RAM, same size HD, same DVDRW, webcam, LED display, and the new intel HD 3000 graphics which is what is in the 13" macbook pro which starts at 1,199 on apples site. This is an inspiron model but it is not listed with the other 'inspirons' on dells site. To find the laptop you have to click on the 'Laptops & notebooks' link on the top of there site then when the page loads, on the left hand side click on 'under $500', the computer will be listed in that area. Ive looked all over the web and comparatively this is the best laptop for your money , hopefully it isnt a piecer. ^^ copied that from my FB post. I think this will make for an EXCELLENT hackintosh. I will let you guys know for sure one I get it. I have only hackintoshed my AMD box which works pretty well for the most part but I use iAtkos or iDeneb or Zephyroth, never using the retail disc, but i think in this case i might be able to use the retail disc.
7. Some times my mouse becomes overly sensitive when I boot to OSX. If I boot to windows and then restart, the issue is resolved. The same thing happens with iDeneb 10.5.8 and iAtkos s3 10.6.3. I think it may something to do with a bios update I did but im not sure. Is anyone aware of this issue?
8. Hi Guys, I got a new 9800GT that I finally got working using aqua mac 9000 drivers originally found here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=132089 I downloaded steam and installed CS:source but when the map is loading, I get error "The application inspector quit unexpectedly". I googled that phrase and got two results relating to google earth. I am running an AMD 3800+, 9800GT, 2GB RAM w/ iDeneb 10.5.8 v1.6 I havn't really found any evidence that anyone has run CS:S on there AMD hackintosh. I would really just like to know if anyone has been bale to get CSS playable on there AMD hackintosh.
9. After screwing up my hackint0sh I realized I might be able to save the information and reinstall at the same time. I work as a 'product specialist' for apple and we do this often for computers that have "system wide" issues. Basically Archiving saves the /Users & /Applications folders. This is the way we can archive & install With Hackintosh. After you have royaly screwed your install... 1) Insert your Hackintosh DVD and boot to it (if for some reason you get an kernel error when booting, try reburing your DVD at 2x). 2) Select your language and on the welcome screen select "Utilities" from the menu bar and from that menu select "Terminal". (yes i am making this real simple for the newbs). 3) Type "cd /Volumes/YOUVOLME NAME (press tab twice if you dont know it and it will show you the items in that folder). Now we are going to remove everything EXCEPT for /Users & /Applications. Type "rm -Rf " and then type the name of the first file or folder in the list, which usually starts with a period. What I do is type the first character or two and press tab, put a space and begin typing the next file or folder. You need to press tab twice to see the contents of your drive / volume. Once all of the files have been added press return and sit back while that info is being erased, when its finished you will get the command line back. Type "ls" to view the folders, you should see /Users & /Applications, if you see anything else remove it. Picture_2.bmp You should double check to make sure you have not typed /Users or /Applications otherwise you will F yourself Like I have trying to fix my computer very late at night / early early morning when I wasnt thinking . Once the information is erased quit terminal and you can now install as you normaly would. You user account will be there when you finish installing. If you choose the same name that you had when creating the new account during the setup assistant it will log you right into your account. If for some reason it does not log you in, you can still access your user folder in /Users and basically add a new account to the computer making sure the "short name" is spelled the same as the name on your user folder. If it is and you create the account you should see something like: "A folder in the Users folder already has the name "short name". Would you like to use that folder as the Home folder for this user account?". < SAY YES OR OK OR YES! and then you can log out and log into your account. HOPE THIS HELPS
10. How I Got My 6800xt working with QE

Alright so once Again I F'd My computer when trying to update to 10.5.7 form iPC 10.5.6, but it was really my fault because I was being stupid about it. Anywho, when it came to reinstalling I had a real hard time getting my card to work again AS I ALWAYS DO (will some one please add 6800xt to there next distro!) . Adding my dev ID to NVDANV40.kext & NVDAResman.kext only gave me options for a higher resolution. I had previously used Lawless 10.5.4 (moded zephyroth 10.5.2?) and got my 6800xt working right off the bat just by adding my dev ID. So I removed the nvidia kexts and drivers and rebooted and opened pacifist. I put my Lawless 10.5.4 DVD and searched for "nvidia". I selected the disclosure triangle next to nvidia and installed the "contents of NVinject-0.2.1 256mb.pkg"(choose according to ram size) & then "contents of nvidia-kexts.pkg". After I installed those two packages (one after the other, not at the same time) I restarted into single user (-s). In single user I added My dev ID to NVDANV40.kext & NVDAResman.kext (/System/Library/Extensions/). The interesting thing is that "Geforce.kext" already had my full dev ID(0x00c310de), which may be why this worked. After I had added my dev ID's i simply typed "exit" and it went straight to the desktop with QE enabled. This is really the only way I have been able to get this to work on my computer and everytime I do it it takes forever. *** NOW... You maybe able to get this work without 'Lawless 10.5.4' DVD if you just add your dev ID to 'Geforce.kext' but im not sure about this. Good luck.
11. nForce LAN driver

This driver has completely fixed my cpus=1 problem and I am very happy because my other lan card just broke, but now i can use this one without issues (so far). I have a Gigabyte M51GM-S2G
12. LawlessPPC-Leo-10.5.4-Phenom&AMD

I had this same issue when i tried Lawless for the first time and i was pissed. But i tried it again on secondary drive, possibly after making some changes to the bios and it worked. Tried again on main drive and it worked. Its been working fine ever since i have used the disc a few times to install on the system. Its possibly its strictly related to a setting in the bios. I would set your bios to default maybe and enable only what is needed? Dont know honestly.
13. Discontinued

Same here. cpus=1 works like a dream, much faster than the 10/100 belkin im using in the pci, noticed a huge difference in browsing. Downloading with 2 cpus of course crashes the box. Cant wait for a fix.
14. LawlessPPC-Leo-10.5.4-Phenom&AMD

Installed successful on my system (had to add my dev id's for my 6800xt however): AMD x2 3800+ GIGABYTE GA-M51GM-S2G 3 GIGs ~What does not work (has never worked really...): 6 port sound (only single output). Built in Ethernet Thank you Lawless & Zephyroth for a near perfect install. BTW, could some one give me advise on how to get all channels on my audio working? i use ACL883. Also i would like to find out why my onboard ethernet is not working. I have a feeling there may be some modifications i need to make to some kext files but i would like a 100% working system. Also, i installed the system on 3 GB's memory at 677, now if i remove one of the non paired memory modules the mghz is then changed to 800, but i get a kernel panic when running the system like this, is there away around this or would i have to install the system when the memory is running at 800mhz? BTWx2: I use "idlehalt=0" under the 'kernel flag' to get rid of the mouse lag which would usually present itself after a few hours. Also this fixed the random crashing of my apps and the -10810 error i would receive. > http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Tips_And_Tricks
