  1. Thanks for the tip. I just emailed him and paypal'd him some money.
  2. Hello: I have also the SR-2 with dual X5650 OC'd to 3.6GHz. I have 10.7.3 running with a GTX480. I bought now the EVGA 680GTX 4GB Classified. For Windows 7 I have the 680 as the main card and the 480 for Physx. When I put in only the 680 10.7.3 booted up with XGA video (I did not bother to make special Kepler kexts work with it). I have now 480 in slot 1 and 680 in slot 5. OSX runs fine but I want to upgrade to 10.8 with the built-in Kepler drivers so I can use the 680 as my primary graphics card. Can someone tell me how to upgrade from 10.7.3 to 10.8.2? I can either upgrade from the current OS or do a fresh install on a new 512 GB Vertex 4 I just bought. I have a 10.8.2 install disc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. The first page only mentions out of the GA X-58A series the UD7 model but not the UD3R and UD5 models. Do those two models work as well as the UD7 or are there any known problems? I just do not want the complexity of water cooling, if I can avoid it. Thanks.
  4. I figured out that I have to be in Finder to do the Windows-k to have the pop-up box. Now I can connect to all the other NTFS network shares. Thanks.
  5. I have a total of 5 other machines on the same wired network. One XP does have nothing on it and the XP firewall is turned off. The others have Vista and Win7 with various programs working (firewall, virus scanners). I am surprised that the iAtkos 7 OSX 10.5.8 could see all windows machines. With the info I got from here now all machines can see the hackintosh but not the other way around. Does anyone have this Lifehacker build running with an ATI 5850 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814131184) card? I know the guide is specifically for dual DVI Nvidia cards but I do not want to spend money on some last-generation product. Thanks
  6. The interesting point is that iAtkos v7 was able to see all other windows computers and connect to them automatically. It would be nice if the gurus here could find out how that was achieved. Could it be some kind of kext? I would have to set up guest accounts on all the windows machines. Trying to log on as administrator did not work. My hackintosh can see the SATA drives connected to the JMicron SATA ports but it cannot see the ATA drives connected to the JMicron ATA connector. This applies for finder and for the disk utility. Is anybody able to see any ATA drives? How were you able to do it? Does anybody know of a PCI or PCI-e internal SATA card (non-RAID) with 4-6 ports that is hackintosh compatible? The motherboard (GP EP45-UD3P) has only 8 SATA ports but the Thermaltake Armor can take 12-14 hard drives with the drive cages. I use it as a media server.
  7. Thanks. Now I can see my Hackintosh from the other computers (and can access all drives). However, I cannot see any windows computer in my finder. I already rebooted. In my finder I have checkmarks in "Connected Servers" and "Bonjour". What else can I do to access my Windows PCs from my Hackintosh? Some of the Windows PC do not have a firewall or any other kind of protection to deny access from the Hackintosh.
  8. I took it out, re-seated it and BAM! it's working. I cannot see any other computers on my network (collection of 4 XP and Vista machines). I was able to do that with iAtkos 7 running 10.5.8. What do I have to do for that? Thanks
  9. Well, it looks like all high-end Nvidia cards are sold out. They checked inventory at Fry's for stores within 500 miles and there was no stock. It looks like all high-end Nvidia cards have minimal availability which can only mean that they will come out with their new generation within a couple weeks (just in time for X-mas). At least I got the Trendnet GbE for $10. I put it in the bottom PCI slot, turned the build-in ports off in bios and SL says in System Profiler under Ethernet Cards: "This computer does not appear to have any PCI Ethernet cards installed." What am I missing? I rebooted twice... No dice.
  10. I found the EVGA GTX 285 2GB version for $390 at Fry's (no rebate needed). I will drive over there now and pick one up together with the Trendnet GbE card. I think they have a 2 week return period.
  11. Sorry, I was not more specific. I tried Paragon 7.02 I had and it did not work. Then I ran the newest trial from the website (it took my serial number) and it worked. Update: not available anywhere. I have seen at Best Buy a BFG GeForce GTX 285 OC 1GB on sale (whatever is left over) for $280. It has dual DVI and looks to be a good deal. It is almost $100 cheaper than the other GTX 285. You think it will work? BTW: What is the fastest graphics card anybody is running on a Hackintosh?
  12. I reinstalled it. No dice. Tried to uninstall it from the System Preferences Panel and I get an error (probably because it is not correctly installed). I will try Paragon 7.02 next. Hooray! Downloading the newest version from the website worked. I now have access to my NTFS drives. Thanks.
  13. I downloaded it, got the installation ok, rebooted and had this error: "NTFS-3G could not mount /dev/disk1s1 at /Volumes/SG2TB_E because the following problem occurred: /Library/Filesystems/fusefs.fs/Support/fusefs.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext) link error; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try kextutil(8). the MacFUSE file system is not available (71)" Any help? Thanks.
  14. Supermicro X8DTL-i working!

Did you try to install Snow Leopard? Could you give us any more info about your setup hardware and how you did it? What works and what does not work? I am interested in some of the other Dual Xeon X8 series SM MBs. Thanks
  15. Thanks for the detailed answer. Regarding the graphics card: Memory Core Clock Stream Proc Mem Clock Price EVGA GTX 275 896MB 633 240 2268 255 +S&H MSI GTX 260 896MB 655 216 2100 170 after MIR with S&H They both have dual DVI and the memory is DDR3 at 448 bit bandwidth. EVGA is about 50% more expensive. Will it get me that much more speed? I just found an Intel PCU GbE card: PRO/1000 MT. Does anybody know by chance if it works? Thanks for the ntfs-3g link.
