    Lion on P43-ES3G

    Hi everyone! What I have now is a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 machine, with GeForce 8800GT 512MB GPU and SATA HDD, everything on my Gigabyte P43-ES3G motherboard. I have installed on it Mac OS X 10.6.7 Snow Leopard Server. I'm using following kexts: AHCIPortInjector.kext AppleHDA.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext ATAPortInjector.kext Disabler.kext ElliottForceLegacyRTC.kext fakesmc.kext HDAEnabler.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext JMicronATAInjector.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext OpenHaltRestart.kext And here's what I have in my com.apple.boot.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Default Partition</key> <string>hd(3,0)</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1600x1000x32</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=X86_64 cpus=2</string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>5</string> <key>SMBIOS</key> <string>/Extra/SMBIOS.plist</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Themes/Bullet</string> <key>device-properties</key> <string>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</string> </dict> </plist> What I'm planning to do is install Lion's Developer Preview based on the same kexts and files I have SL installed on. And I'm asking - what are the differences, what should I replace, remove, add? I'm about to repartition whole hard drive and install it from a boot-cd as I have done with SL. Will it work? I heard that Chameleon/PC-EFI doesn't work with Lion yet, so what does? Thank you in advance.
  2. Hi there everyone! I'd like to make a retail Tiger-based hackintosh. I've got some experience with retail installations of Leo and SnowLeo, but absolutely no experience in Tiger. Yes - I do know Tiger retail DVD is PPC-only. But server version was released as universal binary, and I'd like to create home server for sharing my hard drives over AFP, but unfortunatelly Leo/Snow AFP version is newer than tiger one's and I have a couple of tiger clients (real macs) on my network which I need to be able to connect to my server too, right now I'm using SMB sharing as a replacement, but personally I don't like Samba and would prefer to use AFP. What I've been trying so far was booting from a Tiger Server retail DVD using my personal EmpireEFI modification with the same contents of Extra folder I'm succesfully using on my Snow installation, that includes: 1. com.apple.boot.plist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Boot Banner</key> <string>No</string> <key>Default Partition</key> <string>hd(0,4)</string> <key>EthernetBuiltIn</key> <string>Yes</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string></string> <key>Timeout</key> <string>2</string> </dict> </plist> 2. dsdt.aml patched for my configuration. 3. Following kexts: AHCIPortInjector.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext fakesmc.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext 4. SMBIOS.plist, wchich fixes only my RAM memory, which was improperly displayed in System Profiler. That gave me panic: http://tinypic.pl/i/00000/2kl4etj9fbou.png My machine's configuration: CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3,3GHz Motherboard: Gigabyte P43-ES3G GPU: GeForce 8800GT 512MB HDD: 4x500GB WD SATA2 discs DVD-ROM: SATA LiteON RAM: 4x1GB DDR2 800MHz (All Kingston) Is it even possible to install OSX on a PC using a retail DVD? If anybody could help me I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance and sorry about my english - I'm still learning

    OSx86 for Jaguar

All Mac OSes prior to Tiger was available only for PowerPC architecture. This means they're absolutely not applicable on a normal x86 PC. Tiger was the first OSX that's been made for Intel-macs.

  6. Hi, I've installed OSX 10.6 from a retail DVD some time ago. Now I'd like to upgrade it, but i suppose it's not going to be as easy as downloading combo update and installing it. So - what should I do to upgrade my installation without harming my hackintosh? My specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3Ghz Gigabyte P43-ES3G (with P43/ICH10 chipset) 2GB DDR2 RAM 800Mhz GeForce 8800GT 512MB 3x500GB SATA Drive + 1xSATA DVD-RW writer Thanks in advance
