  1. Installing 10.5.2 on an Asus laptop

thanks reeve and alex for the advice, i'll be giving the iDeneb version a go soon. Hopefully i won't have to many issues with my obscure laptop specs
  2. sweet thanks mushr00m fingers crossed this goes to plan
  3. hey mushr00m, here's the screen shot yeah i might follow your advice and try ideneb 10.5.5, just wondering, have you experienced any problems with that distro such as only one cpu core, wireless, no sound etc? also i think our laptops are similar with the only difference being the type of graphics card installed (a8jr: ati x2300). I'm not 100% sure what drivers i should use for the chipset > that is broadcom vs atheros, azalia/realtek?, network etc.. think you could do a quick run down of what you installed when you used ideneb?
  4. hey mate, would this work for an A8JR? i've had problems where i can't get past all the code in the boot cd ASUS: A8JR - http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&amp...amp;modelmenu=1 mobo: Mobile Intel® 945 PM Express Chipset
  5. Hello, i have a problem similar to qfei, i'm running a: ASUS A8JR - http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/A8Jr/A8Jr210AS.zip intel core duo t5500 i945PM chipset 1g ddr2 667 X2 120g SATA hard disk I'm using the kalyway 10.5.2 install (which i've successfully installed on 2 seperate pcs) and the installer hangs at the screen with all the code (before the gray apple screen -> sorry for the lame explanation, i wish i knew what it was called ) I went through the thread but it seems like qfei wasn't able to find a solution in the end, would you reccommend using that bios that u posted earlier or start from scratch with a new modified bios? > i'm a bit weary of tring a modded bios as it's kinda my uni pc but hey whatever happens right? edit: also i noticed this guy who has an A8JP removed some kexts from the kalyway installer to get it to work > http://insanelymac.blogspot.com/2008/09/ho...lyway-1052.html do u think that'd work for an A8JR, or would a modified bios be the more reliable method?
  6. Installing 10.5.2 on an Asus laptop

hey alex, thanks for the speedy reply, i read a few things about modified bios work arounds, but i wasn't sure if i wanted to brick my laptop with a modified bios, i'm checking the webby now and looks like it's been requested but nothing has been posted back so i guess we'll just see how it goes. hey alex, thanks for the speedy reply, i read a few things about modified bios work arounds, but i wasn't sure if i wanted to brick my laptop with a modified bios, i'm checking the webby now and looks like it's been requested but nothing has been posted back so i guess we'll just see how it goes.
  7. Installing 10.5.2 on an Asus laptop

i've had the same problems can't get past the bootup/code screen on my A8JR and i've already had 2 successful installs of kalyway 10.5.2 on 2 seperate pcs, just seems like the laptop doesn't want to play nice.
  8. hey mate, this caught my eye, i've had a lot of problems with getting FCP 6 and 5 working with my setup (q6600, 4gb ram, 8800gts 512mb on a gigabyte E35-DS3R) One of the problems i've had is that audio is often out of sync in that, if u press the play button (and i'm using aiffs here) he seek animation will play through the wave graphic but sound doesn't play till about 1-2 second sin, there is also no audio scrubbing, i'm really at a loss as to what to do with it, any insights would be greatly appreciated
  9. Final Cut pro 6.0 > audio lag problems

*bump* sighs about bumping own post but it's been a few months with no solution in sight
  10. Final Cut pro 6.0 > audio lag problems

hey mate, i figured it wasn't the cores i did a few system checks and it's showing that all the cores are active, i must have read an old post or something. and yeah i'm working with aiffs, they are at 44.1k tho.. should they be 48k for pal? i've also noticed audio scrubbing with the aiffs is almost non existent or verry laggy and inaccurate. i've also tested FCP 5 and i had the same problems. could it possibly be a ram issue or something? argh this is quite annoying
  11. Hello, I've had a near perfect experience with my setup until i installed FCP 6.0 recently. Everything loads up fine but i'm encountering 1 major issue. It seems that audio is always out of sync, when i drag the audio file to the preview window the graphic plays through the audio waves but the audio doesn't actually begin until 1-3 seconds into the song. Obviously this makes things a bit difficult. My system specs are: kalyway 10.5.2 Gigabyte EP35C-DS3R, Q6600, nvidia 8800gts 512mb (via chameleon), 4gb corsair ram. I'm using Realtek ALC888A drivers patched by pcwiz in an aggregate setup to run 4 channels (stereo 2x/ quadraphonic) I read elsewhere that i might have to use a bios patch to enable all 4 cores of my processor, however all 4 cores show up in the device utility altho the processor type is listed as 'unkown', i'm not sure if this will effect anything tho. Anyhow if anyone has any tips, let me know

  13. hello, i'm having a similar problem and funnily enough similar hardware i'm on a p35-DS3R. Both xp + leopard work fine by themselves when i change the boot order in the bios but they don't seem to want to play nice when i use chain0 xp works no problems but i get the usual boot error with leopard. Both oses are on seperate hard drives, and both os work flawlessly. i did use the kalyway 10.5.2 intel instal. Any guidance would be much appreciated!. [and yes i've gone through alot of the threads here to try and resolve my problem, even tried acronis boot loader but that thing seemed way to unstable and rendered one of my partitions as full when it had 250gb free on it..lol so needless to say that thing is gone]
  14. Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3x Control Center

hey mate just want to send out a big thank you for all your hard work i got my P35- DS3R up and running with relatively no problems except for a few peripherals which sorted themselves out in the end anyway. i did have a few issues with the onboard audio + my logitech z5500 but that was fixed by simply changing one of the plugs so now i do have QUADRAPHONIC SOUNDDDDD! lol altho 5.1 would be nice i don't think i can warrant using the headphone jack on the front of the case for centre/subwoofer. Unless there's another fix for that? anyway all the best man, thanks a bunch
