1. Finally managed to get it working. Although I was using Kext utility for every try, i thought I give it a shot with Kext wizard. After installing I checked the repair permitions boxes on Kext Wizard. Now it's working Edit: Actually I realized why the network ia now working. Any time I tried, I was actually loading the AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext into Plugin folder of IONetworkingFamily.kext. Last time I was loading it directly into Extensions, and that's why it works.
2. I managed to install ML, everything works great except for network. Firts tried with the integrated controller! RTL8111B which worked great in SL and Lion with the RTL8169 kext. In System Information, the controller is correctly recognized, device ID correct, kext shows loaded and in use. Also tried with a PCI D-Link using a RTL8169S chipset which also is correctly recognised, device ID correct, kext loaded etc. The problem is I have no netwok connections in System Preferences/Network, and I cannot add any. I also checked in Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and there is no networkinterfaces.plist and the other .plist for network (don't remember how it's called) Whan can I do, what is blocking the AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext to work ? I tried many versions, includin official newest from Realtek, older from SL and Lion etc but all have the same problem. In the chameleon plist I have built in ethernet set to yes. How I installed: from usb drive folowing this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=280756&st=0. Then installed from ###### ML edition: Elliot Force Legacy RTC, Patched AppleRTC, Evoreboot, Chimera bootloader.
3. Yes, that was the problem. This was not in the guide when I first tried this tutorial. thank you. I managed to install ML after going trough video card/blacks screen issue with my 8800gts 512. Everything works except my network card, integrated RTL8111. The controller is correctly identified in system profiler, driver is loaded but there is no ethernet connection in system preferences, and i cannot add one. Tried many drivers, same thing. Tried a PCI Dlink card, also with 8111 chipsed, same thing. Any ideeas ?
4. My computer freeze when try to boot from USB. any way to port this USb instaler I made using this tutorial, to a double layer bootable DVD ?
5. I cannot boot from the built ML USB drive. It freezes my BIOS. Can I burn its content to a DVD and install ?
6. Use F7 BIOS, with any other BIOS my setup was no good. Only f7 works great for me.
7. It's your appleRTC that causes the problem. In my instalation I guess ##### installed that automatically with Chimera. Here's my AppleRTC file below, this should solve your problem. Also I highly recommend to use F7 bios version. I have built a hackintosh with the GA-Z68X-UD5-B3, Asus HD6870 EAH6870DC2DI2S1GD5 and OCX Vertex 3 SSD and 16GB Corsair Venergance 1866. I have installed vanilla 10.7.2 from USB drive (prepared with Kakewalk). After the first boot I used ##### to install Chimera, the DSDT.aml from tonymac, iMac 12.2 system identifier. That's it. Only modification to BIOS (version F7) was HPET set to 64 mode and SATA mode to AHCI. I also disabled onboard audio because I don't use it. The system works just like a mac, power management works great, even on the Ati 6870 int works just like an Apple card, without any intervention, sleep works (but you have to keep clicking the mouse until you see the desktop). I stressed the system in some benchmarks about 3 hours and it's rock solid. So that Asus video card I used seems a better solution than the Nvidia 580 because it works vanilla OOB. AppleRTC.kext.zip
