  1. Hi all, I'm facing a problem with my Dell Latitude D520 equiped with a GMA945 (8086:27A2). When i install iATKOS S3 V2 on it, everything runs ok except the fact that it works good only on external screen ... I have to switch screens for external right before OSX boots in order to have it working. When i take a look in the "Video configuration" in SL, it shows only my external screen and i can't change resolution (stuck in 1024x768) ... I don't know what to do about it ... some people talks about DSDT ; SSDT ; boot rel3 ... i'm lost in all these terms could someone please explain what does they mean and how could i get rid of this problem ?! Thanks !
  2. Atheros AR9285

I would like to know how does a rewriting of a "kernel extension" from a BSD-like OS to Mac-like OS works ... I would like to do the trick and test it by myself but i think i lack some knowledge to do this. I just need someone who already managed to do the trick on another driver then i'll try to do the job. Perhaps if we are many needing this, in spite of asking for it, why should we couldn't do the work by ourselves ? See you i'll try to give a try on the building of a kext from a BSD driver ... I'll keep you in touch ! If you want to participate, don't hesitate
  3. Atheros AR9285

Hi all ! I installed iATKOS S3 V2 on an ASUS eeePC 1005-HA. Everything is running fine except for the WiFi part that is an Atheros AR9285 ... the famous one. I tried a lot of thing, adding the DevID to the kext directly but soon after i discovered that AtherosFix.kext that is located in the Extra/Extensions directory was doing the job for me. So i removed the line added from the kext (AirPortAtheros21.kext). I then tried to install the kexts that i found on my MacBook which is a SL 10.6.4 because they had a newer version number : IO80211Family.kext from 10.6.4 <key>BuildVersion</key> <string>12</string> <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key> <string>3.1.1</string> <key>CFBundleVersion</key> <string>311.1</string> <key>ProjectName</key> <string>AirPortFamily</string> <key>SourceVersion</key> <string>3110100</string> AirPortAtheros21.kext from 10.6.4 <key>BuildVersion</key> <string>2</string> <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key> <string>4.2.3</string> <key>CFBundleVersion</key> <string>423.9.9</string> <key>ProjectName</key> <string>AirPortDriverAtheros9380</string> <key>SourceVersion</key> <string>4230909</string> But these ones didn't contained more DevID than the previous one from iATKOS. So i thought that perhaps adding IO80211Locale and IO80211CountryCode directly inside the kext could do something ... but no ! I ended going on the atheros website and then i understood why the kext actually embedded could never make the AR9285 works. Despite the fact the the AR9280 and AR9285 are from the same family (AR928x) they are cleary not offering the same features. The AR9280 is a A/B/G chip with 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz radio. The AR9285 is only B/G chip with 2.4Ghz radio. So i'm stuck here with you guys, don't know what to do ... ?! Buying a new card for replacing the actual one surely could do the trick but it is the expensive way and i don't like it. See you ... Perhaps netkas can do something for us ... As it's this dev-team that made the AtherosFix.kext. It is just speculation, nothing else ... but i think this team surely understand better than us the way Atheros kexts works.
  4. Intel GMA 945 kexts ?

Hi ! I'm looking for a solution for my Intel GMA945 (8086:27a2) video card. I tried some kexts but no luck. Does someone can point me to a good tutorial about getting this video adapter to work in QE/CI. Thanks !
  5. Ok, so, do you think the Areca 1212 will work fine like your 1222 out-of-box as it is the same architecture (IOP348 & 256MB RAM) ? thanks !
  6. Hi all ! I'm looking for a cheap RAID SAS controller that can be able too boot a RAID0 on the OSX Installation. After reading all of your posts, i came to a conclusion that the only SAS RAID CONTROLLERS able to do it are the ones equiped with the IOP348 chipset from intel. What made me came to this idea is that "xhala_debru" (on page 3) said : So i made a search and found out that the only point that was changing from other controllers was the chipset. As the ARECA 1222 256MB is very expensive, i searched for others based on the same chipset/memory architecture and finally came on these points : - SuperMicro AOC-USASLP-S8iR (2 internals SFF-8087 connectors // 8 drives ; 128/256 MB DDR2 on-board cache) - Areca ARC-1212 (only 1 internal SFF-8087 connector // 4 drives ; 256 MB on-board cache DDR2-533 SDRAM with ECC protection) - HighPoint RocketRAID 4320 (2 internals SFF-8087 connectors // 8 drives ; Upto 256MB DDR2 Memory) The prices varies like this on ebay.com : - SuperMicro AOC-USASLP-S8iR :
  7. Ati Mobility Radeon 9600 (devid 4e50) on SiS Chipset

Finally, does someone managed to get the ATI Radeon 9600/9700/... to work with Leopard ? I have a laptop which includes an ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 with 128Mb dedicated and i was hoping to get it to work with Leopard but all i read until now was that the kexts was only PPC binaries so no hope to see this type of card working someday. Do someone managed to get the famous QE and CI with theses cards with Leopard ?
  8. Hi all ! I'm running an iPC 10.5.6 really fine on my IBM Thinkpad X31. Excepts VGA that is in VESA mode without QE (nor CI) ... because it's a Radeon M6C-16H (Radeon Mobility 7000 ...) ............. The real problem is that i finally got a wireless card (extracted from an old laptop) that is expected to work with leopard ... and as i installed the kext iwi2200.kext, when i arrive in Leo, the Airport icon is shown and when i click on it, it says : "No Airport card installed". -> So i click on it, i go to the NetworkPreferences pane and when i add the Airport card -> CRASH !!! It does this systematicaly. I don't know what to do !? By the way, if someday my card works (which i doubt ...) will it be managed as an Airport device or will i have to use the nsGUI.app and networkselector for managing it ? Here are the errors : system.log Network Preferences Pane Crashing Hope that someone could help me resolving this problem !
  9. I'm back ... and sorry guys, i have tried everything i could but i ended with no luck. I think the fact that Leopard is working under OpenGL 2.0 is the problem + the fact that the video card has less than 32Mb ... -> AGPgart v2.7.1 : works well and enables fast writes throught AGP. It recognizes the card : 1002:4c59 (ATI Radeon Mobility 7000 // IBM M6C-16H) -> Natit Universal : seems to detect the card as it should (the Info.plist include the card as "M6" // "Mobility Radeon". But when used, ends with black screen before LoginApplication shows up.(even if i remove AGPgart) -> Callisto b008 : Do the same as Natit Universal ... black screen just before the LoginApplication. (same thing if AGPgart is removed) -> OpenGL.framework (form Tiger : v1.4) : Tried replacing and it has done the same result when Natit or Callisto loads. If i remove Callisto or Natit, Leopard loads up LoginApplication but when i type my password and validate, it stays blocked just before showing up Finder. So ... i don't know what to do ... perhaps buying another Laptop ... or just buying a MacBook 13" aluminium ... But if i do so, i wouldn't have anymore the spirit of moding kexts Of course ... a PC that has mac is a revolutionnary thing ! but if we take the reverse situation : a mac with windows ... it's just a good joke :censored2: See ya ! PS : idumych or ozeinab87 ... if you've got some more luck than me or if you're more dev than me (as i'm not) let us know !!! PS2 : perhaps there is no way of getting this card to work under Leopard. It appears that Apple made some drastic changes from Tiger to Leopard ...
  10. Hi guys ! For the moment, i have still no luck with the radeon M6C-16H (Mobility Radeon 7000) with its poor 16MB. (Which are shown as 15MB in the darwin boot ... stranges things ...) I installed AGPgart (v2.7.1) and Natit which seems to detect the card but no luck, i get a blackscreen and nothing more when it changes resolution before going to the loginApplication. Strange, but i feel some sort of gain. I hope i will get a fix to this blackscreen thing. I'll keep you informed
  11. This afternoon, i'll give a try on my (perhaps future) HackBook x31 I'll give reply on this thread to let you know guys if this M6C-16h (formerly ATI Radeon Mobility 7000 with its 16Mb of VRAM) works with Leopard
  12. Hi all, After reading many posts, i finally came to a solution for this video card ! 1/ You have to assume that your Vendor & Device IDs are : 0322(Device) 10de(Vendor) 2/ Go in /System/Library/Extensions and delete : "NVDA*.kext/plugin/bundle files" + "GeForce.kext" -> and every AGPgard.kext ; titan.kext ; natit.kext ; nvinject.kext ; nvkush.kext ; ect ... 3/ Copy the ones in the archive attached in this post with KextHelper (just to make things easier ...) 4/ Restart your mHACKintosh ... ========== Your system should boot fine and you should get QE/CI enabled right now ========== But ... as GeForce FX5200 support stopped on 10.5.5 release, you should get some strange behavior with graphics. In order to fix this, we're going to swap the CoreGraphics.framework to the old one which was supporting the GeForce FX5200 (version 10.5.5) 5/ On boot, press F8 and add "-s -v" arguments to boot into single user command line mode (-s) and verbose mode (-v) 6/ Delete the 10.5.6 version of CoreGraphics.framework like this : "rm -R /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework" 7/ Copy the one from the archive with "cp -R <folder of the file without the last /> /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/ 8/ Fix the permissions on it : "chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework" "chown -R 0:0 /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CoreGraphics.framework" 9/ Then "reboot" 10/ You should now have a working 10.5.6 system with GeForce FX5200 without any strange behavior nor artifacts ! Enjoy ! LINK : FX5200 Package for 10.5.6 by SimKard.zip
