  1. Snow Leopard on VAIO P(VGN-P90HS) working!

Thanks for the clarification, ryuu....again, sorry about your P....
  2. Snow Leopard on VAIO P(VGN-P90HS) working!

Thank you very much for clarifying, ryuu123....really appreciate it! Sorry, to hear about your vaio P breaking....I assume what broke is not covered by warranty if you didn't fix it..... I assume you are happy with MBA 11"...have thought about getting one too... :censored2: In my question 'A' you say ethernet works with USB ethernet adapter. That's OK with me, but do you need to use Apple's USB ethernet adapter...I have one from 4-5 years ago...also have other USB ethernet adapters by Trendnet, Belkin, and Sabrent.... Thanks, Mark
  3. Snow Leopard on VAIO P(VGN-P90HS) working!

Have read through the first several pages and the last several pages of this loooonnnnngggg thread... Would like to clarify and verify the following: A. Is ethernet working on any of the Vaio P's first or second generation? B. Is WiFi working on any of the Vaio P's first or second generation? C. Is sleep working working on any of the Vaio P's first or second generation? D. What is latest version of Snow Leopard that works well on working on any of the Vaio P's first or second generation? Thanks in advance for any replies. Mark
  4. Hope someone can please advise....trying to get OSX SL running on my new little Fujitsu laptop UH900 with 5.6" display, 2GB RAM, 62GB Toshiba half-slim module SG2 series SSD. I made OSX SL install on a USB flash drive using my MacBook and SL disk. At first tried installer from flash drive connect to UH900, but while USB drive could boot up installer app and at the intial startup disk selection screen it showed the SSD drive partitions (See photo below), after that when OSX installer ran and I used Disk Utility, it did not show the SSD drive at all. So, bought a SATA to USB adapter and connected the SSD drive to it and then to my MacBook. The SSD drive showed up on my desktop like any other drive, so, installed SL to it and then ran NetbookInstaller8.4 (per MechDrew guide, http://osx.mechdrew.com/guides/nbi4.shtml) and selected: Install Chameleon 2 NBI bootloader Install General Extensions Then put SSD back into UH900 and booted up... After initial bios screen, I see this Then I see this: That's as far as I get with booting.... Any suggestions as to what to try next ??? If not, I'll have to restore back to Win 7, and we don't want that! Here's pic of OSX install startup disk selection screen mentioned up above when I was trying to install OSX directly onto UH900 and then pic of UH900 with OSX installer running: Thanks for any and all help! Mark Install Chameleon 2 NBI bootloader Install General Extensions
  5. Bought a SATA to USB adapter today, pulled out my SSD from Fujitsu, connected it up to adapter and then MacBook. MacBook recognized SSD and so I installed OSX to the SSD after formatting it... That's the good news... The bad news so far is that while I can select the SSD to boot up from, it's not completing the boot process.....
  6. Want to try OSX on my new lil' Fujitsu UH900 mini laptop.. The good news is that my OSX USB Flash Drive is able to boot and run OSX SL installer... The bad news is that when I run Disk Utility app from installer on flash drive, the internal SSD drive is not showing up on the list of drives to select from on left side of Disk Utility window.... An odd thing is that when the installer on the flash drive boots up, it boots to a screen where you select what startup disk to use. On that screen are icons for 4 hard drives, one labeled 'OSX Install (my flash drive...), plus 3 others, 2 of which have the label 'NTFS' under them. SO, at this point the SSD drive partition are recognized as being there!.... I'm assuming that the reason it doesn't see drive is either due to SSD being formatted as NTFS or if not, then it doesn't recognize the SATA Controller on the UH900.... So, one thing I've done is run linux from another flash drive and then did 'lspci' in terminal... Interesting to see what UH900 has in it....one thing not shown in list displayed is a 'AHCI' or 'SATA' specific controller. There is an IDE Controller in list as well as 2 PCI controllers, and a SD Host controller, plus others.... Only other thought I've had is to do workaround if I can find a compatible external USB SATA Drive enclosure and connect it to my MacBook and install OSX on SSD drive that way and then reinstall SSD into UH900...according to what I've read, SSD has 2.5" SATA connector on it... Anyone got any suggestions??? Thanks, Mark
  7. Hope someone can advise on this issue, as I seem to have similar problem installing SL.... Trying to install OSX SL on my new Fujitsu UH900 little laptop with USB Flash Drive I prepared... Can boot up OK with USB drive OK and installer runs OK, but Disk Utility does not show my internal SSD drive. Wondering whether this is SATA controller issue or could this be related to fact that SSD drive is NTFS formatted??? If NTFS issue, then do I need reformat drive first? If SATA controller related, then how do I get it recognized?? Thanks, Mark
  8. Like others, it's not obvious about this new policy...as I had registered before new policy, it was not obvious from error message as to why I couldn't make a new topic...puzzled, I sent message to admin...who has not responded...luckily, I found this thread and figured out why I couldn't post... Would be great if error message explained policy... Thanks!
  9. Snow Leopard on VAIO P(VGN-P90HS) working!

    Don't think that's allowed....
  10. OSX on Netbooks (eee, mini note, acer one, etc.)

+1 for the Dell Mini9....overall, works great as hackintosh. Especially, after upgrading RAM to 2GB and replacing stock SSD with a RunCore 64GB SSD... Upgraded to SL and all is good.... Only thing I don't like is the low display resolution in the vertical direction (600 high)...cuts off a bit too much of windows or webpages...but not the end of the world.... Recently, bought a smaller machine, the new Fujitsu UH900, comes with 2GB RAM, Win7, 62GB SSD....works great, but now wanting to make hackintosh out of it too.... Tried OSX SL install today, using same USB flash drive that I used to install on Mini9.... Good news was that it booted up installer OK. Bad news is that when I opened disk utility it does not see the SSD, only shows my USB flash drive.... The SSD on the UH900 is a Toshiba half-slim SATA SG Series THNSNB062GMSJ. Any suggestions as to how to get installer to recognize this SSD, so that I can partition it, etc, and install OSX??? I did try to find info on this, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.... Appreciate any and all suggestions! Thanks, Mark
  11. Well, I see there's section on netbooks now....
