  1. [Guide] Installing Mountain Lion.

Hey all, I have installed on a Dell Inspiron 530 that has Lion working perfectly (separate partition.). During the install I did receive an "install failed" message at the end, but ML will boot and run fine.... UNTIL I try to repair permissions; then I have an error message appear: "Error: No installer packages can be found for this disk.". There is another thread that references the problem being a corrupt ML image, but I have tried two different images and installed fine on two MacBook Pros with the same image, no problems. Any thoughts, or ways I can fix this prob?
  2. I have this same problem with ML gold master; I have installed three times, each time I get an "installation failed" at the conclusion of the installer. Then, everything reboots and ML works fine until I try to repair permissions. Is there anything I can do at this point to fix this? By the way I have used the same ML gold master image to install on two MacBook Pros without any problems, I think my .dmg is fine. Thanks for any help!
  3. 10.7.2 - All Apps Closing?

Update- It actually looks like it's trying to restart... all apps close (including finder), gray screen appears for a few seconds, then back to the desktop. Very strange, I have a feeling it's related to the newer Chameleon build but I'm curious if anyone else is seeing this problem.
  4. I recently updated to 10.7.2 after running 10.7.1 with no issues whatsoever... I have a new strange problem; about 20-30 minutes after booting, all of my apps will close (both windows and actual applications.) I have no idea what could be causing this, any help is appreciated. BTW, I'm running a Dell 530 w/ C2Quad6600, Nvidia 9800GT, no problems at all prior to this update.
  5. Hey all, I'm running along fine on my Dell Inspiron 530, I am using Netkas' modified ApplePIIXATA so I can boot. This unfortunately does not allow me to see my SATA 5 & 6 ports, which contain another hard drive and DVD drive. Has anyone found a way to get around this (in 64 bit mode), or has there been another modified Intel ATA kext that would help me? I've searched, but so far not found anything.
  6. Dell Inspiron 530 Success?

Chameleon will see all of your drives, but once SL starts loading it won't see them- if that makes sense. Also, I install all kexts to the System/Library/Extensions folder, not the Extra folder, I was having problems with the Extra folder. Lastly, in your BIOS settings it needs to say IDE, our only other choice is RAID and that won't work.
  7. Dell Inspiron 530 Success?

I'm using Netkas' ApplePIIXATA, installed into /System/Library/Extensions. However, I have two hard drives, one DVD, and a Bluray drive... I can only see SATA 0 and SATA 1 (boot holding F2 to go into setup, and you can see what you have plugged in where.) Netkas has said his fix does not enable SATA 5 and 6, which worked fine under Leopard. So, I'm patiently waiting on a fix from somewhere so I can see my other two SATA ports. How are you booting now, from an external USB drive?
  8. Dell Inspiron 530 Success?

I copied my DSDT.aml over from my Leo installation and that worked fine. As for the KP's after boot, boot into safe mode (-x) and then run Kext Utility, which will repair all permissions and rebuild the Extensions.mkext file. Then you should have no more panics.
  9. Dell Inspiron 530 Success?

I've got my Inspiron 530 running fine with Snow Leopard; I'm using VoodooHDA 64, netkas's ApplePIIXATA fix and an EFI string for my Nvidia graphics. Also, I copied my DSDT.aml from my Leopard install over, and I'm using a USB ethernet dongle for network. I followed this guide: link and added the items above. My only wish right now is for a better Intel ATA driver, right now I can't see SATA 5 or 6 under SL
  10. VoodooHDA

Almost everything works, just no support for the internal microphone.... would be nice to use with skype, ichat, etc. I don't think the problem is the volume being too low, but at this point I'm not sure.
  11. VoodooHDA

Thierus, any chance of something similar to your modified kexts for the HP Mini 1000? I tried yours, but no luck.
  12. [HOW TO] Getting IDT Audio Working

Anyone have this working on a HP Mini 1000? VoodooHDA is nice, but it would be even better to have the IDT Audio working fully including internal mic.
  13. Installing on Dell Inspiron 530

Hey all, I have been running Kalyway 10.5.2 (up to 10.5.4) for the past couple of months, never got restart/shutdown working right though.... I just changed a couple of days ago to a retail install, following this post: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=86167 Works great, I now have shutdown and restart... the only thing I had to fix was the Time Machine issue, see the post-installation sticky for the IONetworking patch 581 fix, that corrects that issue.
  14. OK, I have almost everything working fine, but... I have a USB external HD that I want to use for Time Machine and/or Super Duper. However, Super Duper gives me a "UUID 35" error, saying can't spotlight on the external, and Time Machine can't find the external. Any thoughts or ideas how I can fix this, I can copy items manually to the external just not with Super Duper, Carbon Copy, Time Machine.. Thanks.
  15. I've installed with the v4 package, everything clicks right along and I wind up with the welcome video, sound working, sleep, shutdown, restart, etc... all working. I did change the AppleHDA file in the v4 folder with one of my own (Taruga for ALC888) Then I go into EFI Studio, make an EFI string for my nVidia 8500 GT, and reboot. Now I have 1920 x 1200 video w/ QE/CI, but I've lost sound. Is there an easy way to get my sound back? Or can I make and EFI string for that? I'm running this on a Dell 530 Q6600 w/ nvidia 8500 GT, ALC888 audio, USB/ethernet adaptor. Thanks for any help.
