  1. Do you mind writing a piece on how you successfully installed Snow Leopard on the 1558? I am trying to do the same thing, and some documentation on the process you used and any problems you ran into would be really helpful.
  2. Here is my setup: Dell Latitude D630 Nvidia Quadro 135M iAtkos 1.0 install I updated yesterday to the Kalyway 10.5.3 combo update, and since then I have been having very weird keyboard behaviour. Specifically, once and a while my typing will become all caps, and I am not able to send messages in Adium, or trigger any functions like See Desktop by moving my mouse to the corner of the screen. The only way to solve this is to restart. Also, sometimes when I am typing letters will not appear when I have pressed the keys, and 7s will randomly appear in my typing. Has anyone experienced similar issues, and what did you do to solve it?
  3. cant boot into OSX?

You need to set your mac partition as active, and then possibly install the PC-EFI bootloader. Search for instructions on how to do that.
  4. Some Dual Booting Questions

iAtkos is another distribution of Hackintosh. The most popular are Kalyway, iAtkos, and Leo4all, and each has its different versions. You only need one, but if that doesnt work you can try using others. P.S. If you can't seem to find much help using the search function in the forum, try opening google, and searching site:insanelymac.com "search term".
  5. Chain0...what?

    1. Open up your windows drive root in Explorer 2. Go to folder options, and enable viewing hidden files, and uncheck "Hide System Files" 3. Right click on boot.ini and take off the read-only check. 4. Open boot.ini in notepad and add C:\chain0="Mac OS X86" as the last line of the file. 5. Download the chain0 file (http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Chain0) and place it in the root directory of your windows drive (Usually C:\)
  6. Mac Compatibility

Piccolo is right, your processor must support SSE3. Check that all of your individual hardware parts are compatible here: http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.4.3 http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL
  7. Just a quick question..

You most certainly can run OSX in ATA, although you may need to install in AHCI. If that is the case then just switch back after install. However mine worked fine the whole time in ATA.
  8. Bios Setup for Leopard

My advice is to disable multi-core support, and then try the setup. When you run into problems search them on the forum, and you will likely find out which settings you need to change to fix that problem.
  9. Help Installing OSX86 10.5.2

Go into your BIOS and disable multi-core support, and Intel SpeedStep. Try again. If you are still stuck on the IOAPIC: Version 0x21 Vectors 0:23 error, go back into BIOS and change your SATA mode to AHCI. (You will not be able to boot windows while in AHCI mode, so change it back to get into windows.) This should take care of the vectors error. Do this and post the last couple lines now. I had the com.apple.driver.ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin error trying to install Kalyway 10.5.2, so I used iAtkos instead, it worked fine.
  10. Hey guys, first post . I've been trucking through the installation process, and I've decided that I won't ask any questions until I first contribute something to the community. So here is how I solved the waiting for root device error. I saw many unanswered threads, so I hope this helps. Situation: Installed iAtkos 1.0 on Dell D630. Updated using the Kalyway 10.5.3 Combo Updater, rebooted with update -v Error: Two yellow lines declaring that the AHCI driver was not loaded properly, then farther down a line about an ItunesPhoneDriver, and finally repeating instances of "Still waiting for root device". Solution: Rebooted into BIOS, and changed the SATA drive mode to ATA, and disabled multi-core. Rebooted and booted with update -v.
