No, that's news to me, but I'll certainly look into it, thanks.

It needed NullPowerManagement.kext (or something to that effect).

I'm clocking horrendously slow cinebench marks, something like 8,75 GL and 1,9 CPU. What could be amiss ?

Mine's fixed. My Mac Pro 4.1 had miraculously turned into a macbook pro 6.1, so one I set the device Id in the proper section of info.plist it was ok. Don't know how many cores I have though

The 'Unknown Chipset' issues like Whopper2005 is having seem to be related to the Chameleon bootloader. Patching to 619 solved it for me. However, tinkering with my sound has patxhed my Mac version from Pro 3.1 to a 4.1, GLbench scores dropped in the process form 3000 to 450, and editing the AppleGraphics etc. Has'nt helped. Now my sound is working but the graphics are shot. Nice !

    889 sound nightmare

OK, I'll have a poke at it tonight, thanks ! But won't ##### overwrite my Chameleon 619 with an older one ?

    889 sound nightmare

Right, I'm on a dsdt system, and installed legacy 889hda. The soundcard shows up nicely with all the connections in the hardware section, but under the loudspeaker icon there's NOTHING. I've tried everything, including voodooHDA, but I just can't get it to work. Does anyone care to explain to a nitwit how to get sound from this box ? Thanks in advance, Peter

Well, I installed 6.3, patched to 6.4, did #####, rebooted, patched to 6.5, installed Chammeleon 619, rebooted, installed the drivers and cuda, rebooted, and lo and behold, it works. I still need to speed it up by doing something about sleep or speedcontrol or something, but I forget what it is, and I have to get the blasted alc 889 to work.

    VoodooHDA

After installing 2.7.2 4 HDMI audio channels show up in my sound control panel. Since I use analog audio, i am thusfar soundless. Don't know how to fix it.

IIRC, there were two versions : 001 and 002 (duh !) 001 did not work for me. 002 did. So this is (in short) what I did : Boot with 002 after boot : take out bootcd, insert 10.6.3, wait a bit, press F5 : OSX DVD shows up. Select and install. After install (installation FAIL message), reboot, insert tony's bootcd, when the bootloader icons show up, select your osx partition and boot. Here I install my D-Link USB wifi stick, and reboot as above. I now have network. Now I open ##### and leave it there. Now I patch to 10.6.4. I don't go straight to 10.6.5, because as I found out yeaterday, that breaks it : nothing that's connected to a usb (keyboard, mouse, etc.) works after patch to 10.6.4, i don't reboot as asked, but i do de ##### thing, and do a user dsdt (which I downloaded from Tony and placed on my desktop as an aml file). I don't select any funky bootloaders, because none of them work for me, nor any of the 889 audio thingies, because they don't work eather. No nv inject, no nothing. Only the extra OSX utils you can install from #####, among which is kexthelper. After this, i run kexthelper an fix up stuff. I then again reboot with Tony's old bootloader (up to here I have used noting else), and i get a kernel panic. I press the reset button, and after I select my OSX partition from the bootloader, it now boots into 1024 x 768. Now I install chameleon 2 RC build 619. After this, I switch off the pc, and restart, without a dvd in the drive, and it comes up in 1024*768 I check for updates. If the 'graphics update' is still there, i deselect it, because it breaks the box. Now I patch to 10.6.5. Use kexthelper again and reboot. Now try installing the fermi drivers and cuda ( haven't gotten this far, because yesterday evening I broke the box again trying to install the nVidia stuff straight on top of aquamacs stuff i'd been using upto now). Note I still don't have sound, because I haven't figured out how to make it work. Rollback to 10.6.2 with HDA doesn't work, and voodoohda finds 4 HDMI audio thingies I don't have. I know this doesn't actually belong here, but if you must, please move it somewhere else, but don't delete it !

Diwad, See if you can find tonymac's old fermi test bootloaders, or send him a mail and ask. I still use it and it works for me. If he can't help you I can make you an iso, but I'll have to ask Tony if he's ok with it.

Yea, although you may want to rephrase that

    Wasn't the 100HAL.kext removed in the 6.5 udate ?

IMHO this only applies to a clean install. Since OSX does not have native Fermi support you wouldn't be able to install OSX. If you already have a working system (however badly it's working) this will not be an issue. The 4000, however, has a different hardware configuration than the 470. So it'll probably wreck my box, but hey, trying has it's own rewards !

    fermi/gtx 480/gtx 470

I will gladly try this out. It'll probably break the box, but I'll try it anyway. Thanks for the heads up, hombre !
