  1. Hi Guys, Posted this before, but hoping someone will actually help tis time round. I have a working 10.5.2 Build on my pc and all thats jazz. Trying to get internet running. I have an Intel 82566DC-2 Network ethernet card which I know is not work. It doesn't even show up in System Profiler. On the other hand in system profiler my internal USB WiFi shows up but i can not use it when I got into System Preferences> Network. This is a direct copy of what is showing up in system profiler. USB High-Speed Bus: Host Controller Location: Expansion Slot Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBEHCI PCI Device ID: 0x293c PCI Revision ID: 0x0002 PCI Vendor ID: 0x8086 Bus Number 0xfa 802.11 bg WLAN Version 0.01 Bus Power 500 Speed up to 480 Mb/sec Manufacturer: Ralink Product ID: 0x0004 Vendor ID: 0x15a9 I have tried the following: http://www.ralinktech.com/ralink/Home/Support/Macintosh.html but they don't seem to work. Can anyone help? I don't even know the proper name for this device. Only what is above. Please help I really want internet on my Mac OS so that I can use it as my main OS. TY for help and please comment ANY thoughts or ideas. I am willing to try anything to get my wireless or my ethernet running. Mitch

  3. Help a noob.

Bump. Hey guys Just waiting on this one problem so that I can swap over to Mac OS full time. I'm so sick of windows. Please help me. Even if you could just tell me the name of the device so I can hunt information for it down. Ty, Mitch
  4. Help a noob.

when i go into network preferences the only thing I am seeing is a firewire connection. I can't find anything even remotely hinting at airport or wireless or anything. when i click + at the bottom of the list to try and add the connection all i get is firewire info.
  5. Noob help.

Ok so I have read http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...=73952&st=0 (I_am...me's post) .... and I'm lost. .... I have to format my hardrive using the diskutil in tiger on my external HDD and make it a GUIB format. Then make the harddrive active etc etc Then I install my copy of Leo (Kalyway 10.5.2). Now I assume that if i wanted to I could leave everything at this and to use this computer which means I could press the power button and Leo would load all by itself without me doing anything special. Now once thats all good. I go into Diskutil from my fresh install and make a partition in Mac OS ext format. Once this is done... I delete that partition and reformat it as fat. Having done that I continue on and Install Windows Vista. Now the NEW big question! Once I have these two operating systems installed... what do i do? If i turn my computer off how do i make it boot into mac os or windows? will it boot into mac os automatically if I don't do anything etc etc. This is where i broke one of my last installs. I don't know how to set it up the boot systems... Have gotten completely lost a few times..... 2nd big question: This means what...........So after you get EFI v8 working you can go ahead and install windows, but only x64 XP or vista...........? which version do i use? 32bit or 64bit? Sucks not knowing all the jargon lol. ! Ty for your time whoever reads this, Mitch
  6. Noob help.

Yeah, Just found a forum thread in a place I ain't looked before on this site that clearly states multiple times that Bootcamp just does not work.... Ty for the help Stravaganza Mitch
  7. Noob help.

Hi, Got a HP m8190a, have tested the kalyway 10.5.2 install on a partition and has all worked well (except internet which I am hoping for help for in the hardware/wireless & lan section of this forum). Unfortunately.... Vista doesn't like being partitioned. I have caused a HFS+ partition failure and had to recover the entire computer back to factory default (yes i had everything backed up... not that silly). Since then I have tried compacting everything down and moving the MFT files which hasn't worked well for me aka. recovery no. 2. So the bright Idea: 1) Get my windows vista ultimate install disc... 2) get my OS X Leo install disc 3) wipe vista off my harddrive so thoroughly that I might just have to take a day off in celebration 4) Install Leo 5) Use Bootcamp to partition and install vista again 6) Enjoy my shiny new OS without vista causing the entire computer to not be able to boot. THE BIG QUESTION: Will bootcamp work with kalyway 10.5.2? The smaller question: Can I install Vista Ultimate 64bit or only 32bit? the smallest question: Has anyone done this before and is there a reference guide (yes even though Bootcamp is pretty point and click) Ty for the time peoples also TY to all the people who have done so much work to get all of this working and continue to develop for the OSx86 project. Mitch
  8. Help a noob.

Hi, Ok so I have a fully working Leopard install on a HP m8190a desktop. Except for my internet. Now I know that the Intel 82566DC-2 Ethernet card I have ain't going to work though some people, I have read, are making headway on this. What I am hoping to get working though is my wireless. Unfortunately I don't know what the device is actually called. Leopard is recognising the device in system profiler but I don't know how to get it to use it for internet connectivity. The following is verbatim from Leopard System Profiler USB High-Speed Bus: Host Controller Location: Expansion Slot Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBEHCI PCI Device ID: 0x293c PCI Revision ID: 0x0002 PCI Vendor ID: 0x8086 Bus Number 0xfa 802.11 bg WLAN Version 0.01 Bus Power 500 Speed up to 480 Mb/sec Manufacturer: Ralink Product ID: 0x0004 Vendor ID: 0x15a9 Ok so?? Does anyone know the name of this device? Better yet does anyone know how to get it to work. Is it just a case of turning it on or do i need drivers or to hit into kexts? Please help me, I desperatly want to make this my main computer OS; I hate vista so much, especially after how many times it crashed while I tried to get leopard up and running. Ty for the time guys, I look forward to someones reply helping a new hackintosh user out Mitch
  9. Hey having some troubles, I created the partition in vista and accidently formatted it. So i went back and deleted the partition then created a new simple partition without format. Since then I have been getting this error whenever i tried to verify or repair the disc in Disk Util GUI on leopard Invalid BS_jmpBoot in boot block: 000000 Also when i try to erase the partition it comes up with failed mediakit is illogic or some such ty for help to anyone, Jak
  10. Hey, Ok Successful first install of Kalyway 10.5.2. Now my problem.... When i Log into vista i can no longer see the partition i made... therefore I can't setup my damn bootloader the simple way (EasyBCD) because the drive isn't there to select from for the setup..... When in OS X I can see my vista folder though? Sooo any thoughts comments etc? Am i missing something super simple like permissions or something? I really wanna get this working Jak
  11. Ok so, Installed onto a HP m8190a (australian ed) got everything working with Kalyway 10.5.2 except internet!! Now I usually prefer to go with an ethernet option but since the Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connecter isn't working yet (even though windows vist thinks it's connected via PCI) I decided to try my wireless in the vain hope it would work. So my wireless..... All i can identiy the {censored} thing as is a Lite-On USB Wireless 802.11 b/g Adaptor through this port: Port_#0001.Hub_#0003. Edit: Identified the usb wireless as a Ralink with Product ID: 0x0004. Donno if this helps a lot but.... Just to confirm this is not a external wireless adapter but built into the desktop while still being classified as USB??? Booting Leopard it is recognising the USB Wireless but I still do not have any network options for it? I have confirmed that it is working on windows etc. Does anyone know what I can do about this. I really really really want some internet on it so I can go make Leopard my main OS. Ty for your time. Jak
  12. Trouble finding a Motherboard

thanks, hey would you know what settings I would need to use in the customisation window for my mobo and processor etc? downloading kalyway now (damn 6 hr wait!) ty again Jak
  13. Hey, Got a Intel 82566DC-2 Ethernet Connection and a Lite-On USB Wireless 802.11 b/g Adaptor. Planning on using a kalyway 10.5.2 install and just wondering what kexts i should use since i can't find these pieces of hardware mentioned (unless they have another name that i don't know?) Ty for the time guys Jak
  14. Hey guys the story so far. I have a premade computer running vista 32bit and I want to have Mac OS X Lep on there as well. So far i have found out what things I need for most of the parts but! I'm can't find any info pertaining to my mother board. If anyone could possibly tell me which install would be best (was thinking of Kalyway) and possibly link me to a install guide that includes setting up my damn GFX card kernels. One other question I have. What do i have to do to switch between OSx and Vista when i start the comp once i have this installed? Is this what i need? http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/Vista_bootloader Got a: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz Geforce 8600 GT (has 512mb on board but uses 512mb from system RAM ~ donno exaclty what NVInstaller to use) Realtek ALC 888s Chip set Audio Asustek IPIBL-LA Mobo that supports P35/G33/G31 - I believe i am using the G33 part. Obviously the computer handles SSE3 etc or I wouldn't be asking. Specs can be found here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documen...=reg_R1002_NZEN TY for the time Jak
