  1. Copying this over from the other major forum as things seem pretty dead over there. Didn't see a dedicated "builds" forum here so hope this is the right spot. People on other social media recommended coming here. Alright, so the build has commenced, just waiting on the power supply (ended up not realizing that I bought the compatible power brick for the HDPlex 400w and then bought the PicoPsu 160, so that is going back and HDPlex is on its way) and monitor to get here. Found a smoking deal on an Acer-K272HUL-Dbmidpx 27" IPS display through Newegg ($216 shipped to my door) that has gotten great reviews, be careful when looking for this as the EBmidpx (different model) looks the exact same but is a TN Panel and comes up in many of the searches. Anyways, here is specs for final build... - Mobo - ASRock Z370m-itx/ac [$120 amazon] - RAM - Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8gb [$49 amazon] - WiFi/BT - Lenovo Broadcom BCM94352Z [$13 ebay] - SSD - Samsung EVO860 1tb [$128 amazon] - CPU - Intel Core i5 8400 [$185 newegg] - Cooler - Noctua L9i [$40 amazon] - Case - Wesena ITX4 v3 [$97 perfect home theater] - PSU - HDPlex 400w [$95 hdplex] - PSU Brick - Dell PA-9E 240w [$37 ebay] - Monitor - Acer K272HUL 27" IPS [$216 newegg] Total: $883 (shipping included in prices, most were free shipping) This build will be mainly for your everyday computing needs, paying bills, watching YouTube videos and the occasional light photo editing session (have other expensive hobbies now so photography has fallen to the wayside). This is coming from a mid-2011 iMac 21.5" base model that is slowly dying (getting graphical artifacts on a constant basis now and the occasional sudden reboot). The iMac is no longer compatible with any new Mac OS upgrades (no Mojave) so I figured she had a good life over the last 8yrs and it was time to pick-up something new. Since I was fairly unimpressed with the specs for the money with regards to the new Mac Mini's I figured this would be a good chance for me to do a hackintosh. Install will be a Vanilla High Sierra build, since that is the only version I have access to on my iMac. From my research I have downloaded the following kexts for install. - Broadcom Fix (both the firmware repo and firmware patch) - IntelMausiEthernet - WhateverGreen - Lilu I am using the two following builds on the other forum as my baseline as they are very similar builds to mine. Suneys Mini Cube from the other forum and the Tiny But Might build from the same forum. With that said, I plan to use Morgonaut's guide from YouTube to build the hackintosh up (hopefully next weekend). Once everything is running stable in High Sierra I will hopefully be able to update to Mojave without any major issues and then keep moving forward with life. So, am I forgetting anything?

Mac Mini-esque build... what am I missing

Well I am finally up and running completely and stably. I was still having trouble with getting full graphics acceleration when a user in another thread recommended using a clover folder from someone else's build that he was able to get functioning. Well I gave it a shot and sure enough I have everything up and running perfectly now. I will probably take the next week to make little tweaks here and there to ensure everything is stable, then upgrade to Mojave. Once that is done and stable I can call this complete! I still need to go through the other users Clover>Kexts>Other folder to see what was different and also their clover settings.

Thanks I will give that a shot.
  4. So ran into an issue last night where I am now having the "AppleACPICPU failed to load" then 60s timer to attempt again. This will attempt 4 different times until it will finally boot to a black screen with nothing shown. Only option is to then shut the machine down. I attempted to boot into Safe Mode from Clover options (hitting spacebar at clove bootloader screen) but that results in the same error. No special bootflags going other than broadcom patch for country code. I was attempting to get my integrated graphics going when this happened. How do I get past this error to be able to get to my desktop so I can load the backup of config file (that I took prior to messing with the graphics stuff)????
  5. LOL... well I am dumb, realized after all that that I did not have my boot order set properly in my bios. So no matter having the boot stick in or not it was still attempting to boot from the UEFI partition for the os. So once I realized that and got the boot order situated I was able to get into my system and replace the EFI with a backup I had taken prior to messing with the framebuffer stuff.
  6. Well no dice... Got the card installed and while it will recognize it in the GPU Injector screen in clover, I cannot seem to get it to work. Clover recognizes it as a device ID of 6610 and a Radeon R7 250. Howvever, no matter what firmware I attempt to inject or anything it will not recognize more than 14mb of ram. Spent the last 3hrs messing with it on top of the fact that my case (wesena ITX4 v3 which is the US version of a Streacom FC7 minus the front ports and media slot) is just too small to fit any card other than one that is 15mm wide (which this particular R7 350x is). The graphics is the last thing that I am battling with and so I am just going to see if I can return the card and then upgrade to something like the Fractal Design Define Nano with a normal full sized card that is OOB supported.
  7. UEFI is enabled in bios... Did not put on thumbdrive, put on standard drive. Did luckily have a backup of my EFI folder like I thought. EFI folder is 23.8mb zipped... Any recommendations to getting it below 10mb limit?
  8. Ok tried it and didn't even recognize it as a bootable drive. Got the "insert a bootable drive or press any key to reboot" message.
  9. Oh and have the broadcom bcm94352z wifi/bt card to replace stock one.
  10. So WEG and Lilu has taken place of pretty much everything? Should have my R7 350x low profile card this afternoon, so once I get past my AppleACPICPU issue and install the card I should be good to go as long as I have WEG+Lilu installed?
  11. Probably should not that this is in the system in my sig line. Running updated versions of everything (kexts, clover, clover bootloader, etc.) and running of integrated graphics from the i5 8400.
  12. There is a post (dont remember if here or elsewhere) that says you need the RadeonDeInit (or something like that) kext to get them to work.

I can't get to anything. Can't boot into safe mode, can't boot into regular mode, can't get it to boot from the USB installer without it going to the installer screen. NADA!! Actually I take that back... I think I pulled a copy of my entire EFI folder to a thumbdrive before I tried to make the change, but that would not show you what is currently wrong. Did that right after I got everything else working with BT continuity items in kext>other as well. Will have to check tonight (4pm PST).

Unfortunately I am stuck at an "AppleACPICPU" hang that eventually leads to a black screen. Can't get past that point right now even when trying to load safe mode.

Mac Mini-esque build... what am I missing

Ok so finally got everything working again and started trying to get the framebuffer taken care of to get graphics acceleration. Attempted using a "general" framebuffer guide as the Framebuffer Patching via WEG guide just isn't making sense to me and I am not getting any framebuffer dumps when using the two boot arguments. So here is where I am at. tried using a different guide that has been updated as of a few days ago from another site that had a similar board to mine. I am now stuck at a kernal hang. I get hung up on AppleACPICPU for multiple "Busy" signals then I will go into the Apple logo (quickly and very broken) and I get a black screen. Can't get past this even in safemode to get to my config.plist to swap it out for the previous settings. Any ideas how to get back to the system desktop to get this fixed?

    Hackintool v1.8.3

How does one go about renaming the ports in step 8? 8. Reboot with -uia_exclude_ss uia_include=HS01,HS02 boot flags • Change the HS01,HS02 ports to the ones you have your mouse and keyboard attached I get to this point and cannot change the ports needed on my board (HS01 and HS02) as they must be part of the front USB header and not on my rear IO?! And if I go through the steps without doing that and do the -uia_exclude_hs boot flag then I lose all USB ports period (as they are on the back). Also, while I have not gone through every post, is the first section depricated? While I am going through and attempting to get eeverything working it states for my USB controller (200 series XHC controller according to the tool) that I need the XHCI-Unsupported.kext however that does not seem to exist and all I can seem to find is the standard FakePCIID.kext file.

Any update on this? Having similar issue where I cannot get graphics acceleration to work in my system (see sig line). Not having any lock issues or anything like that just getting no graphic acceleration. This is in High Sierra 10.13.6 running smbios 18,3 (i think) as that is what corresponds with the device/platform-id that Hackintool is telling me it needs for compatibility (3E9B0007 if I remember correctly).

Good to know.. Recently purchased an OEM Dell R7 350x and hoping to get that working soon in 10.13.6 High Sierra.

Mac Mini-esque build... what am I missing

So looks like this ends up being a continuity issue with Bluetooth. What I didn't realize from Rehabmans Broadcom thread is that while the Z2 wifi/bt chip is supported it is not NATIVELY supported, so looks like I will have some other work to go through and get BT continuity working properly. Ok ran into some other issues last night with an ACPI error that would not let me get into safe mode or anything. Not really sure what I did but I couldn't get macOS to load so I reformatted and started again. Getting everything else working first (USB ports, Ethernet, WiFi/BT) then I will worry about the iGPU. Here is the weirdest thing, there are two builds on another forum that use same board, same processor with slightly different other items and installing Mojave and/or High Sierra and both were able to get their setups working right away. Not sure where I am going wrong. Mobo- ASRock Z370m-itx/ac with 3.10 BIOS (I believe, need to verify in BIOS tonight and looks like there is an updated bios with minor fixes) CPU - Core i5 8400 Monitor is an Acer k272HUL IPS display connected via Display Port (has 2xHDMI ports available as well) Oddity that I noticed last night and believe it is associated with the USB port fix that needs to be done, is that while the board has two gigabit lan ports, only one works for me. I had the second working at one point but not working OOB like I thought. Have installed IntelMausiEthernet.kext to resolve ethernet issue in the clover>kexts>other folder. Really starting to wonder if there is something up with my board too. Get an oddity, will have to take a pic with my phone, when booting into the boot device selection screen where I get all kinds of graphical artifacts. I did end up winning an old bid I put in on a Dell OEM Radeon R7 350x low profile card that should fit my case and that will be here on Friday. But the bid in before I realized that there may be some compatibility issues with the card OOB (great another thing to mess with) but that will at least give me an idea of there is something else going on here.
  20. So I am starting a new thread because I was clogging up the other persons (old) thread with my questions to Allan but the systems specs really didn't match as he was using an i3 8100 and I am using an i5 8400 (which should natively be supported vs. the i3 having to have the platform id/device id spoofed). This is for an 8th Generation CPU - Coffee Lake board (mini-itx in my case) running macOS 10.13.6 native and higher. (my current system specs can be seen in my signature line) I have been running into an issue where I was getting and IGPU incident at boot in verbose.... This was determined because there was no hardware acceleration for my i5 8400 as I am currently attempting to use that as my full graphics solution. I have run through two main guides: - An Idiots Guide to Lilu which gives great information what is needed to get things moving and understanding how you go about getting the information for framebuffer for your internal gfx. Main thing with this one is that you need to know your Device ID (in my case since I am running an Core i5 8400 - 3E920000) and the Platform id (which is dependent on the particular board you are using (in my case CoffeeLake has two main platform id that work according to Toledo's framebuffer guide, 3EA50000 (default if the system doesn't recognize your system) and 3E9B0007 - in this case for DESKTOP solutions). When using this solution the steps are pretty clear on how to get the necessary information, place it in your Device > Properties fields (I am using the latest version of Clover Configurator) and what things you need to be sure are either disabled or removed. - The other guid is Toledo's Framebuffer patching for WEG. To me this one is probably the most confusing as there seems to be a lot of detail that is left out as to where certain items are found or should be input. For someone like me that is completely new to this, the Lilu guide was much easier to follow (especially since I am using Clover instead of what looks like another script editor or xcode in the framebuffer guid screenshots). Items that will be needed for this work... - Hackintool - gfxutil - Debug version of Lilu - Debug version of WEG (best way to get this with the xcode project it to go to the debug page for WEG and download the .zip file from the top right green button - see @Allan's post in this thread) - Clover Configurator to edit your config.plist (or whatever item you prefer to edit config lists) - Xcode or another Script Editor to run the debug of WEG - Kext.utility to clean-up your kext files when you have been making changes (this does a permissions repair and should be used for that purpose ALONE) - A kext installer to install your kexts in the S/L/E or L/E folder(s) After watching multiple videos on trying to get this working properly there is one thing I have learned.... to know pretty much right off if you DO NOT have graphics acceleration working is to look at the Dock. If the dock is a solid color (not transparent) then you do not have graphics acceleration working. Once the dock becomes transparent, that should be your first indicator that it is working. This can be confirmed, for both, by looking at your System Report and looking at the General Tab of Hackintool. In Hackintool this can be seen multiple ways: - Lack of PlatformID when opening - Lack of Framebuffer Info when opening - QE/CI and Metal = NO So this comes to the point that I am currently at and hopefully @Allan will be gracious enough to continue with me on this journey while I figure this out. Of course if anything is off in this or incorrect, please let me know ASAP and I will edit the thread.

Ok starting my own thread instead of taking this one up. Will be sure to throw in what tags I can so other complete newbs like me will have a better understanding (at least until things change again).

Ok thanks so much for pointing this stuff out to this idiot. I am pretty spent on this. Had it for awhile that I could bypass the IGPU kernel panic in verbose but went through to edit and see if I could get the gfx acceleration to work but no dice. Tried going through the Idiots guid to lilu a second time (which is how I got rid of the IGPU issue in verbose in the first place, and now I am back to having the IGPU issue. Downloaded like you showed, installed Lilu debug in the root folder then hit the play button. Says the "build completed" but then when I go to look for your directory there is nothing. Here is what I am seeing on the video. I don't know if I am just this dense or it is really this confusing to get the integrated graphics to work. wegbuild2.mov

Intel i3-8100 & UHD 630 no HDMI output

Well getting somewhere. Realized that I was not adding the data values properly (added an extra 0) when doing the changes in my Clover Config. So this was causing the system to still pause while booting in verbose at the IGPU framebuffer not identified line. Noticed this randomly while I was looking at the Hackintool main page because the system was showing my Device ID and Platform ID incorrectly. Now that that is fixed verbose boot screams through all the lines and then goes straight to the Apple Logo loading screen. However, I am still not getting any hardware acceleration. When I pull up Hackintool the platform id dropdown is blank and there are no items in the menu.

Intel i3-8100 & UHD 630 no HDMI output

Yeah here is what I am talking about with the Lilu debug file that I downloaded. there is an item in the MacOS folder that looks similar to the gfxutil application. So I am assuming that is used for the debug in cd desktop command on terminal correct? Also, here are my settings when adding the ig platform id to Add Properties under device. Based on the guide, I am running an i5 8400 with device ID of 3E92, so the recommended platform id should be 0x3e9B0007 which would translate to the code of 07009B3E if i did the translation right. Looking at it now I am wondering should I be adding the information under the "Properties" tag like that or should it be going in the "Add Properties" section above? Or both.
