Lost Location Services with 10.14.3 Update

Appreciate the help. I reckon a fresh install would be the go. And bluetooth does work fine. Always has, including location services, but something about this upgrade didn't jive. At the end of the day, I can live without location services. Thanks again for the advice!

Lost Location Services with 10.14.3 Update

Handoff, iMessage, iCloud, Facetime, all work fine. Haven't tried this yet... would I try to use iMac Pro smobios? Looking at Rehabman's readme concerning the kext at https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-BrcmPatchRAM It says to use either BrcmPatchRAM.kext or BrcmPatchRAM2.kext depending on OS version. And to use either BrcmFirmwareData.kext or BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext depending on injection type. Originally I had all my kexts loaded in the other folder and injected via UEFI. However, once upgrading to 10.14.3 and reading that it's better to use a kext installer rather than the UEFI method I opted to use the BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext instead of the BrcmFirmwareData.kex (which can only be injected by UEFI) I'm going to try and revert to the BrcmFirmwareData.kext via UEFI to see if that changes anything. If that doesn't work I'll just hope that the next release 10.14.4 solves the issue...

Lost Location Services with 10.14.3 Update

Thanks for the reply and the advice. I tried your suggestion but unfortunately still no location services. I think you are right to think that the guest user not working as concerning as well. So something bigger happening here...
  4. Hello,I've updated via system preference fro 10.14.2 to 10.14.3 successfully. However, I've lost location services for Siri and Maps.Anyone else?I've tried a little trial and error troubleshooting but no luck...SysPref->Privacy->Location Services is enabled with all settings checked. I've tried to disable and enable, but not luck.I tested booting from previous backup of 10.14.2 install/uefi (pre update) and Location Services worked.Prior to OSX update I also updated to latest clover, WEG, Lilu, AirportBrcmFixup, AppleALC.So I tested by downgrading all of the above one at a time to the previous state, and still no Location services on 10.14.3I've used kext utility to repair any broken kexts.I've also tried forcequiting from activity monitor:com.apple.geodAnd I've Try Deleting:Library/Preferences/com.apple.GEO.plistLibrary/Containers/com.apple.geodI've booted into a guest user and this did not allow location services either. My build is using a native Broadcom BCM94352Z Dell DW1560 and BrcmPatchRAM2.kext + BrcmFirmwareRepo.kextAny thoughts?

  6. Okay So I have two PCIe controller cards, both 3rd party, unbranded from eBay. 1st runs off the Marvell 88SE92xx chipset. 4 Internal Ports. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PCI-E-PCI-Express-to-SATA3-0-4Port-SATA-III-6G-Expansion-Controller-Card-Adapter/264029216955?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 2nd runs off the ASMedia ASM1061 chipset. 2 Internal/ 2 External Ports (selectable by jumpers) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PCI-E-To-SATA3-PCI-E-SATA3-0-6Gb-s-the-SSD-Asmedia-Chip-Expansion-Card-ASM1061/191572577652?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 The hack is running stable no issues on 10.4.2 with an i7 8700k ASUS Maximus X Code as iMac 18,3 However, I wanted to add eSATA ports for some older drive enclosures I own, and some extra internal SATA ports as I've used all the SATA ports on the Motherboard. The 1st Marvell actually works OOB in Mac OSX. No kexts needed. Speeds seem good (350R/400W on an SSD 80R/W on a 5400 HDD) However, a few things don't seem perfect. 1) the AHCI version is 1.0. I imagine this could and should be a newer version? 1.2 or 1.31? If it should be updated, is this something only able to be flashed from a Windows OS? 2) It can't be used as a boot option. the Maximus doesn't recognise it as a startup option. Is this a possible AHCI version firmware issue? Is booting ever possible from these controllers? 3) TRIM was disabled in system profile. I know it automatically worked OOB for my NVME2 drives connected to the motherboard, But to enable Trim on an SSD 860 EVO I needed to submit the terminal command: sudo trimforce enable Now the second ASMedia controller I haven't been able to get to work. I've switched the jumpers (not sure which position is the 1,2,3) so I've made it so that one internal and one external will operate to test the card. System profiler sees the card like all the others as a "Generic AHCI Controller" with AHCI version 1.20 supported. However, I cannot get any drive to be recognised in the eSATA ports. I haven't tested the internal ports as I don't need these. I've attempted using two kexts (attached) AHCI_3rdParty_eSATA.kext and AHCIPortInjector.kext When I use AHCIPortInjector.kext the SATA device is recognised in system profiler as an ASM1062. However no drive works with this kext. And reading the chip itself on the card it says ASM1061. So not sure why it's preferring the 1062 entry over the 1061 since both are present in the kext. When I use AHCI_3rdParty_eSATA.kext that SATA device is not recognised at all in the system profiler. It disappears. I'm not using a custom DSDT for this motherboard and I've attached my config.plist if anyone has some insight on either cards. Cheers, Shark config-NOSN.plist AHCI_3rdParty_eSATA.kext.zip AHCIPortInjector.kext.zip
  7. thanks for your input. I think I'm pretty happy with my hack for now. running smooth and fast. My voltage is set at 1.3 already. so are you suggesting maybe lower the overclock from 4.8 to 4.7? Cheers
  8. Hi, New to DSDT Patching here and using my Hack primarily for Photo/Video Editing. I believe that my current configuration isn't using graphic acceleration to it's max potential and not sure where to really start. Everything is working with latest Whatevergreen, and exports/renders are very quick in Final Cut, but only 5-10% usage is being shown in iStats, and System profiler does not show the Intel UHD 630 (ioreg does). If I try and remove WEG, no signal over DP, which makes sense as I'm currently not patching the DSDT. Current setup is SMBOIS 18,3 using a headless IGPU 3E920003 Sapphire Nitro+ Limited Edition RX 580 ASUS Maximus X Code i8700k I know I can't use this DSDT you've provided in your clover zip as it won't apply to my motherboard, but what do I do to achieve the same result of disabling Whatevergreen and creating a DSDT patch? Or could this be done within clover as a Device Property for the PCIRoot I've attached my current config.plist Any guidance be great! config-NOSN.plist

Is a New DSDT required after a BIOS update?

Thanks Herve, It is integrated into the motherboard. I've attached the run me app zip. Appreciate you looking into it. 10. Okay so after posting in this thread: I can successfully say I have figured out the culprit for the wake from sleep! After updating the Maximus X Code's BIOS to version 1801 and experiencing no difference with or without the Patched DSDT I decided it was time to unplug every USB device in the Intel Chipset and see what happens. With the DSDT patch removed, and all USB devices/hubs unplugged, the computer still immediately woke form sleep. After disabling the preference "Allow Bluetooth Devices to wake this computer" the computer stayed asleep! Not a deal breaker, but any idea why this would happen? My SSDT-UIAC.aml does have the correct connection type (255) for the bluetooth controller. At the end of the day I can live with pushing power to wake my computer, but is this normal for most Hackintoshes? Then I tested each Device/Port by port one by one. And found that one USB 3.0 to SATA adapter for SSD's/2.5" HDD's was another culprit. Whenever a drive was plugged into this, the computer woke from sleep immediately. Which I'm guessing can explain the wake reason I was constantly getting in my sleep log: localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: XHC However, the BIOS update did not resolve the issue of the ASMEDIA Gen 2 Ports ejecting devices after sleep. I'm using Jettison to temporarily resolve the issue and safely eject those external drives. So still searching for a solution to the eject issue...

Is a New DSDT required after a BIOS update?

Thanks for sharing. Interesting way of seeing of both sides. I can see the benefit of not having to implement a DSDT if Clover is able to fix it all on the fly. The only benefit I've been able to see at the moment is the PCIE device showing in System Hardware Profiler. It still hasn't resolved my remaining two issues. Maybe I'll try removing this current DSDT patch and see if anything happens now with the BIOS since it has been updated and ASUS described this update did address a USB issue. I guess my remaining question is, if I'm still experiencing issues with Sleep and USB devices ejecting on the Gen 2 ASMEDIA controller, is there another way to fix this problem without a DSDT patch? Cheers, Shark
  13. Hey Everybody, I was hoping that the recently released BIOS update for the ASUS Maximus X Code (version 1801) would resolve my two remaining issues of sleep/ USB 3.1 drives ejecting from the ASMEDIA controller. I have a seperate thread here describing the problem in detail: https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/337048-almost-successful-asus-maximus-x-code-i7-8700k-amd-rx-580/ As of yet it the update hasn't resolved the issue. But could someone clarify if a new DSDT.aml file is needed once upgrading a motherboard's BIOS? I am currently using the one from this thread: I've already created a working SSDT file for my 15 USB ports, this is more in relation to the ASMEDIA 3.1 ports and sleep not working. Cheers, Shark
  14. Hello Everybody, First Hack here, and I have a fresh vanilla install with Mojave 10.14.2 closely following this vanilla installation: https://hackintosh.gitbook.io/-r-ha...p-guide/config.plist-per-hardware/coffee-lake I was surprised how well it worked initially with the above suggested settings. Only a few minor things (USB SSDT, signing the Bluetooth Kext, and switching from VritualSMC to FakeSMC) needed to be adjusted to get were I am currently. I built this machine to be a video editing/photography workstation. And so far pretty happy but would really appreciate if anyone has any knowledge or solutions with the few problems I'm still experiencing: 1) FIXED (SEE COMMENT BELOW) Sleep issues waking up from sleep (maybe due to the ASMEDIA USB controller) -FIX WAS UNRELATED TO ASMEDIA CONTROLLER BUT DUE TO PREFERENCE OF "ALLOW BLUETOOTH DEVICE TO WAKE THIS COMPUTER"/ AN EXTERNAL USB 3 to SATA Cable for Hot plugging SSD's/2.5" HDD's. With USB to SATA adapter unplugged/ Bluetooth preference changed, Mac now sleeps uninterrupted. 2) The ASMEDIA USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports ejecting after sleep 3) Am I currently using the correct setup for graphic acceleration with a connector-less ID for the UHD 630 and Radeon RX580? Specifically for optimized performance with FCPX. 4) Normal Power Consumption? I've attached my config.plist, ioreg.zip from RUNME app, SSDT-UIAC.aml (created using Rehabman Method), and my DSDT.aml (from this post for the Maximus x code courtesy of @MaLd0n ) If anyone has the time to take a look and maybe shed some light if I've done something wrong that be awesome. And for anyone looking to build a similar machine, I would highly recommend it, and feel free to use these settings. If these minor last things are addressed, this is a really solid hack. Cheers, Shark Detailed below is What is Not Working, The Build/BIOS Setup/Install Process, and What is Working. NOT WORKING: 1) Sleep: If I put the computer to sleep, or it falls asleep on it's own, it wakes up immediately after sleep. I’m getting these errors in terminal trying to figure this out using the following two commands: Command: pmset -g sleep 10 (sleep prevented by powerd, sharingd) Command: log show --style syslog | fgrep "Wake reason" localhost kernel[0]: (AppleACPIPlatform) AppleACPIPlatformPower Wake reason: XHC Here are my current settings: Clover: Boot -> Darkwake=0 (tried 1 and 2 as well) Energy Saver Settings: Nothing Checked EXCEPT Put Hard disk to sleep when possible Would like Power Nap Enabled for the purpose of Time Machine, but doesn’t seem to be an option with Hackintosh? Using Terminal I have disabled the following: sudo pmset -a ttyskeepawake 0 sudo pmset -a proximitywake 0 sudo pmset -a standby 0 sudo pmset -a autopoweroff 0 2) USB 3.1 Gen 2 For the 2.0/3.0 Intel Chipset, I’ve tried both the @headkaze Intel FB-Patcher v 1.6.8 and @RehabMan instructions on creating a SSDT. The FB-Patcher did not work completely. So I continued with @RehabMan method, created a SSDT, and sacrificed 2 x usb 2.0 ports and 1 internal RGB LED header to reach my 15 port max with 3.0 speeds on all SS ports. The ASMEDIA Ports work OOB with full 3.1 speeds. However the Eject issue can only be resolved by using an App like Jettison. And using that app doesn’t solve the sleep issue, computer still wakes. I’d rather figure out why the disks keep ejecting on sleep and if fixing issue #1 would resolve issue #2 or vice versa? Do I possibly need a power management ssdt? And how would I create one for the ASMEDIA chip? I've now tried using the attached DSDT.aml in my Patched folder. I can now see it's working as my PCI devices in System Profiler are now populating (before it was stating no PCI devices). However still experiencing sleep and eject issues. Ioreg Reads for the ASMEDIA 3.1 controller as: The 3.1 controllers for the back USB gen 2 ports are controlled by: RP05@1C,4/IOPP/PXSX@0/PXSX@01000000 PRT1@01100000 (type C) (3.1 speeds) PRT2@01200000 (type A) (3.1 speeds) PRT3@01300000 (type C) (2.0 speeds) PRT4@01400000 (type A) (2.0 speeds) The 1 x 3.1 type C port on the front panel is controlled by: RP07@1C,6/IOPP/PXSX@0/PXSX@01000000 HS01@00300000 (2.0 speed) SS01@00100000 (3.1 Speed) There is also a SS02@0010000 under this controller, and as far as I can tell it does not have a function. Is there a way to disable, such as when creating an Intel Chipset SSDT? 3) FINAL CUT ISSUES/ GRAPHIC ACCELERATION: Currently it doesn’t appear that the IGPU UHD 630 is doing much in iStats. In Apple System Profile/ Activity Monitor GPU window I only see RX580, no UHD 630. Is this how it should be? Or is that what connector-less ID should look like? With FCPX there is no crashing, glitchy exports, or rendering issues, however not sure if Graphic acceleration is being used to its fullest potential. The IGPU uses 5-8% Memory/ Processor when playing/scrubbing in timeline. And only 5-10% of the IGPU Memory (no processor) is used during any render or export of footage. The RX580 is still doing most of the hard work. My Bruce X times are quick 14-18 seconds, but I’m curious as to why the IGPU isn’t doing any of the lifiting. Is this expected? I'm pretty happy with how Lightroom and Final Cut are performing, I just want to make sure I've set the hardware up correctly. 4) Power Consumption I have a general understanding of building computers, but not an expert especially with first time building a Hackintosh, overclocking, timings, voltages, etc… In HWMonitor the CPU Package Core reads blank, CPU Package Total is anywhere from 3.52w to 4.8w, the CPU Package DRAM is anywhere from 1.12 – 5.08. Is this normal, or high? My temperatures seem fine and idle between 45-57 C, And Max shortly at 85 during stress tests. So just not sure if the CPU Power Consumption HWmonitor reporting is normal or abnormal. I've attached two HWmonitor screenshots 1 normal idle cpu, one while FCP rendering.
