  1. Completely screwed my EFI partition boot - wrong magic number type errors! Worked fine on another box using /Extra. Do a backup - obviously
  2. MLDP3 Installed using 6.55 on Apple RAID 0 drive and everything works perfectly on first attempt. Totally painless! Thank you so much your continuing excellent work DD. Kev
  3. Updated my GA-X58-UD5 (6Gb RAM) based system to 10.7.3 without any problems/interventions. I'm booting off 4x750Gb drives RAID 0 so I thought I'd be likely to run into problems but no - very pleased! I did test 1st on a little eSATA I had spare Display resolution was wrong on 1st boot after update (on 2 x 1900x1200 monitors), now fine. CPU (i7 920 @ 4.2Ghz) runs a bit cooler - 40-42C idle, hasn't gone over 80C under load. Previously it would go way too high (90C+). Best of all, graphics performance is much better! Cinebench GPU test has gone from 33fps to 42 - wow! X-Plane 10 frame rate is up quite a bit too. (GTX285) There must have been a glitch somewhere on the 10.7.2 set up because no way would an 'improved' driver give such a boost. (?) And I finally got iCloud working too! All in all a very productive evening! As always, many thanks Maj / DD for your continuing hard work and all the other contributors to this wonderful project. K
  4. I'm using this FW800 card - http://uk.startech.com/product/PEX1394B3LP...re-Card-Adapter Since upgrading to DD's 5.01 script my hackintosh (very similar to your spec except OC to 4.25GHz and a nvidia 285) has worked perfectly - no problems with any of the power mgmt or sleep functions. I have 2 external FW800 drives and the M-Audio Ozonic on the FW400 permanently connected. I regularly connect a DV camera to the on-board FW400. No problems except it slows Win 7 boot times noticeably. Glad I could help.
  5. Have you considered devices like the Tascam US 122 (USB) or M-Audio Ozonic (Firewire) instead of the traditional sound card? You can find the US 122 for the price of a high-end card. I use both these devices on my hackintosh and am really happy with the quality - like you I had a bit of click and pop with the on-board audio. Lacie do a small FW800 card that is OSX compatible but I've found any with Texas Instrument or Oxford chipsets do the business. Hope this helps...
  6. I used this excellent guide back in Nov 09, shortly after it was posted, to install SL on my then new water cooled overclocked hardware - it worked like a dream and has been a very reliable setup ever since. Stuck at home today by the heavy snow I decided to update everything and ended up installing a brand new SL on a 4x750Gb RAID0 setup. Once again your script worked perfectly and I was up and running in no time - man does it boot up and run fast! I just wanted to say thank you - clearly, a considerable amount of time and effort has gone into this script. Thank you! Keep up the good work. Kev
  7. Introduce yourself

Hi I live in the UK. Been lurking here for years but only posted for the 1st time today. Been messing with computers since 1969 (yeah I'm that old!), UNIX since 1976, was a MCSE during the NT era and worked in the industry for over 20 years. Now a motorcycle paramedic. Hated all things Apple (except my Apple][) until I discovered the hackintosh in 2007, now have an i7 17"MBP (mine), Mac Mini (under TV), 13"MBP (son at uni) and 13" white MB (son at school). Plan to buy my lovely wife a new MacBook Air 11" for xmas! Run 10.6.5 (as of today) on a watercooled i7 920 @ 4.2GHz with GTX285. Don't need to turn the heating on in the office! Thank you everyone who puts in so much hard work to make this stuff work! BK
  8. 10.6.5 Released

Updated to 10.6.5 without any problems. Cinebench showed slightly better GPU performance (up from 36.07 to 36.32), CPU remained at 7.28. i7 920 @ 4.2GHz GA-EX58-UD5 6GB RAM NVIDIA GTX285 Original OS X install using Digital Dreamer's excellent guide.
