    10.5.5 update broke my Finder

We're happy for you, Wizi Which fix worked for you?

    10.5.5 update?

I'm running vanilla kernel (10.5.2 kalyway install, system updated to 10.5.4 on a quadcore intel), and I've encountered a problem with DAVKit.framework. What happened was I had to reboot a couple of times (-f -v -x) before I finally manage to boot into normal mode, only to find Finder continuously crashing and a few programs cannot be launched (iCal, Mail). This is how I managed to fix the problem, including the reference thread from apple.com which identified the problem: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=126309 After that single problem, so far it has been smooth sailing for me.

    10.5.5 update broke my Finder

I've found the same problem and fixed it by doing the following steps: 1). Download this file: http://boxstr.com/files/3550397_erzx1/DAVKit.framework.zip 2). Run terminal (use spotlight if you don't have it on the dock, hit command-spacebar and type 'terminal' , enter) <do the following commands in the terminal> 3). sudo -s (then enter your password) 4). cd /Users/(your username)/Downloads 5). unzip DAVKit.framework.zip 6). chown -R root:wheel DAVKit.framework 7). mv /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DAVKit.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DAVKit.framework.orig.10.5.5 8). mv ./DAVKit.framework /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ As soon as I did step 8, the finder window pops out, and all the non-working program can be launched (iCal, Mail). 4. $2400 was the price 2 years ago (when I bought mine as well), the newer model is retailing for just a little over $1k nowadays.
  5. This is a really risky update. I've tried it a 2 times following everything to the letter, once on my existing install which got {censored}ed. Second on a newly installed Kalyway 10.5.2. Both instance never recovered after 10.5.3 kalyway comboupdate. I will be trying Jas's next.

Topic Shuttle SN25P - Leopard Kalyway

Kericoul, sorry to post in english How did you cope with the no-sound problem? I have a sn25p as well, and may convert it to hackintosh if it's usable as a mac! Merci!
  7. Also looking to get one of this Does sleep\wake work on it? TIA
  8. thanks very much pcwiz.
  9. Thanks pcwiz! By perfect, you mean it acts just like a real mac (resume on <1 second)? that's awesome. I don't suppose you can recommend me a specific notebook make/model or even a specific chipset/configuration to achieve that?
  10. @PCWiz: Thanks a lot for putting down the effort to share such wealth of knowledge you have on this issue I have a few questions.. how good does standby\resume perform for these hackintoshes? One of the best 'feature' of Mac notebooks is how fast it resumes from standby. Probably averages less than 1 second from opening the lid, the system is up and usable. I've tried googling and searching youtube for videos of this, but I've only seem to find references when people are having problem not being able to use standby\resume at all, or when they have problem not getting the display back.. nothing about how quick\slow when they work. And what it is that we should look for, in regards to compatbility with such feature? Thanks a lot, mate! PS: I'm looking to get a MSI Wind to run hackintosh... after positive review here of course
