  1. How to install without burning dvd?

To comment on this, the ISO mounting feature within VMWare doesn't fully support/recognize HFS+ volumes. This may lead to problems while installing. Most people recommend that you mount the image with Alcohol 120%/Daemon Tools, make the drive available to VMWare and use that instead to install.
  2. The A8N-E has the nForce4 chipset, right? Well, are you trying to install to a SATA drive? If so, nF4 SATA does not work. You must install to a PATA drive. If the aforementioned is not the case (you are installing to a PATA drive), then have you used Disk Utility to partition/format the drive?
  3. MacOSX_10.4.8DVD AMD SSE3 TEST 1 on piratebay!

This must be the best OSx86 install DVD ever! Everything works out of the box!
  4. MacOSX_10.4.8DVD AMD SSE3 TEST 1 on piratebay!

Just hash check it with your BT client. It will then download any damaged parts.

I believe there are mixed responses about installing via the VMWare to native method. So, does installing via VMWare work for you?
  6. Does anyone's system crash upon the completion of OSInstall.mpkg? I'm testing the new kernel and I'm wondering if there is any adverse effect on the newly installed system (the new install works)? Specs are in sig if anyone wants to know.
  7. Did you mount the filesystem as writable? mount -uw /
  8. I've installed 10.4.8 with the new kernel using the pastebin guide on my system (see sig) and everything appears to be fine, except the fact that I get errors stating that ApplePS2Controller.kext and AppleAC97Audio.kext have been improperly installed. So, this leaves me without any working audio and mouse (strangely enough my PS2 keyboard still works). Now, I've tried repairing permissions via Disk Utility and under single user mode (following the pastebin guide) to no avail. So, has anyone got any suggestions?
  9. I'm glad you posted this, as I'm getting the same error. Our specs are very similar, especially the video card. Edit: We should have read the FAQ first. Simply delete Geforce.kext.
  10. semthex "nebukadnezar" test results

The VIA C7s? Sorry to go off topic, but has anyone gotten OSx86 (more specifically, the new kernel) working on these chips? They do support SSE3...
  11. is there a program to format ntsf to hsf+

Can you not simply use Disk Utility to repartition/format the drive?
  12. You're supposed to use Titan with the new 10.4.8 (Darwin 8.8.1) kernel.
  13. Just hold out for a bit. A new 10.4.8 ISO (based off of the 10.4.4 restore disc) will be released shortly and will contain the new kernel.
  14. Should be of type af, I believe.
  15. how long

When I had installed OSx86, I used the VMWare->Native method, which took ~40 mins to install. I guess the speed was due to the fact that I had mounted the disc image instead of burning it onto an actual disc and using that to install.
