  1. After many hours of tweaking and testing a hundred different ideas, I finally gained control of the recovery partition. Most methods of tweaking it end up breaking it, so that "Find My Mac" and Filevault won't work, since they require a valid recovery partition. The few times it didn't break it, the recovery partition would still try to download the installer instead of using the full offline installer. It turns out it is actually not that difficult to change it, but it does require a few preliminary steps. Because it is a decently long post(I wanted to be detailed as possible), I will link to it. If that is not okay, I can copy the post over here. http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1598564

    Help buying laptop

http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t=#entry1445047 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...hp/t221429.html The first two laptops on your list just outright will not work. The third one will install leopard, and with more than a little work, Snow Leopard. Same with the 4th one, however none of them will be perfect. Save for netbooks it is almost impossible to find a perfectly compatible notebook. Feel free to pm me if you need further help.

    Hard disk space

After deleting the files, did you empty your trash? The trash is used as a sort of purgatory for files, until you empty it.

    The official custom AppleScript thread.

I am having trouble with an Applescript app Im making. I have it set up to run a script on launch to find the disk number, and pass that as a property. Here is the code: property diskNumber : {} property listOfDisks : every word of (do shell script "diskutil list | grep EFI | grep -o -e disk[0-9]s[0-9]") as list on launched theObject if (number of items of listOfDisks) is greater than 1 then display dialog "Multiple EFI partitions have been found. Please choose a partition:" buttons listOfDisks set the button_pressed to the button returned of the result set diskNumber to the button_pressed else set diskNumber to item 1 of listOfDisks end if log diskNumber end launched The problem is that when I launch it, it just throws an applescript error: No result was returned from some part of this expression.(-2763) No display dialog ever comes up or anything. Any ideas why this isn't working?

    SnowyWindOSX Final

Not hard to create a Vanilla distro really. I installed Snow from a retail disk onto a partition along with the 10.6.2 update, then wrapped that partition into a package. Then it was as simple as creating a package that identifies the EFI partition, to install the bootloader and kexts onto. That is how I can tell you that it is truly Vanilla!

    SnowyWindOSX Final

Hey guys! I just thought I would let everyone know that SnowyWindOSX is finished. Check out the insanelywind.com forums for more information. Verified to give a perfectly working 10.6.2 install on the MSI Wind and all its clones, as well as the Dell Mini, and possibly other netbooks! Simple as burning the disk, install, and reboot. Leaves you with a perfect install. If you choose a GPT partition scheme, then you can install an included package to remove all the hacks from the filesystem, and set up the EFI partition for you.
