ATI HD 5770

Thanks, got it working now. For some reason I wasn't able to get it working before, but now it's working flawlessly. CPU=i3 530 @ 4.2 GHz GPU=XFX 5770 1GB Luxball glass Scene, 800x600, CPU*2+GPU, 55.2 sec. GPU only = 56.1 sec My Model Identifier is set to MacPro3,1 Also noticed that with three displays (DVI/DVI/MDP->VGA), one of my DVI ports won't initialize the display after a reboot until I sleep and wake the monitors (thank you hot corners).

Finally got my XFX HD5770 single slot working last night! Dump BIOS w/GPU-Z in Windows #####-5XXX-3 install w/10.6 10.6.4 Combo update w/reboot Graphics Update + ##### install Replace with Mohamed Kairy's boot GraphicsEnabler=Yes, UseAtiROM=Yes Put BIOS in /Extra Detects all three outputs but I'm waiting on my MDP->VGA adapter before confirming it all works... don't expect any issues! Sleep + auto-sleep working fine.

Radeon HD 5870 / HD 5850

Anyone having troubles with resolution of 2560x1600? Every so often when I turn on my monitor (computer still on) it is filled with random pixel "snow". My side monitors of 1600x1200 rotated have no problems. I have to rearrange my plugs and reduce resolution down to 1280x800 (single link) and then back up to 2560x1600. It will then proceed to confuse my side rotated monitors and display something like 1200x1200. Sometimes it randomly blinks a blank screen and back to my desktop (repeatedly) when waking from sleep and I'll have to reduce res to 1280x800 and bump back up to 2560x1600. Radeon HD5870 1GB w/boot7 method. Attached displays: 2 x Dell 2007FP, 1 x Dell 3007WFP-HC (through Sapphire active dual-link DVI display port adapter)
5. Try using d00d's DSDT and put LegacyHDA.kext in /Extra/Extensions That setup works great for me.
6. Got my R2G using DSDT in this thread minus: - Firewire hotplug will only work after sleep - Haven not yet played around with audio (I use an external USB sound card) Hope to have some more time to work on this and get it 100%, but it looks like Firewire is a tough one to crack. As a heads up, the DSDTs in the thread do not have the proper C-states so I had to remove the information, recompile, and then use Chameleon w/mozodojo mod, and GenerateCStates=yes boot flags. After that setting that up I was able to get the turbo ratios 1112 enabled and no more AppleCPUPowerManagement timeouts in console. There are a lot of devices that could be renamed to bring it closer to a real Mac. That will be my project for the next week.

With the boot7 method, is there a way to change the framebuffer to Langur from Uakari? Are there any benefits? I am getting a weird screen blinking (it blinks between black and my desktop) if I wake the monitor from power saving mode. To fix it, I need to switch resolutions to 1280x800 and back to 2560x1600. It is hooked up with an active DP adapter. To answer the question about Chameleon resolution, I don't think it's detecting it properly. That could be because I'm using multiple monitors and it's stretching a secondary 4:3 display to 16:10.

Got mine working on three displays as well! Reference Sapphire HD5870 1GB PCI-E 2.0.

Triple monitors with ATI Radion 5000, 5xxx

Does your 30" ACD start flickering if you let it go into sleep? Once it woke back up with crazy noise (pixels dancing everywhere), and usually it just does a full screen of gray noise for a fraction of a second flicker. I have a similar setup with all Dell LCDs and first I was blaming it on my video cards (tried various nVidia, and now on a 5870), but it seems like it happens only when using 2560x1600.
10. Sorry I had interpreted your original post as the speeds were the slow again only after you patched up to 10.6.4. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...6771&st=864 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1496982 Try grabbing nvclock and checking what speed your video card is running at.
11. Documented issue with 10.6.4 and nvidia cards... set your SMproductame toMacPro3,1 and try again..
12. Looks like it's an issue with my motherboard as it's still showing up even on a fresh SL install. There is a sticker on my motherboard that shows the proper GUID but somehow the ROM or something got messed up. Still haven't found a solution and Gigabyte support is rather slow. I reflashed my board without keeping DMI, and still the same problem. AWDFLASH and those utilities don't even detect the proper flash type for me to use the /nvguid parameter. I was curious to get auto-sleep working, and bought a Pioneer DVR-218L, then I realized this FireWire GUID problem is preventing auto-sleep! With the DVR218 + FireWire disabled, it goes to sleep on its own no problem.

It's quite competent @ 2560x1600 on High settings. Ultra felt slightly choppy even though it runs smooth in Win7. One thing to note is I only played the Beta on Win7 and not retail. BTW my HD5870 is watercooled so I don't have to worry about the stock fan not ramping.
