Is there any way for me to get these files? Thanks, board works great except for sound. 4. I followed this guide and it was very easy. a few things didn't work. i have the EP45-UD3P V1 motherboard, several sata HD's, and a 8800GT 512. Sound didn't work at first but simply switch the output to digital out and its all good. Bonjour didn't work, but i installed a little script to put en0 into promisc mode and that was done... Now the weird part. Majic mouse doesn't work but mighty mouse does. turns out you need to update to 10.6.1 for that. I download the 10.6.2 combo updater from apple and it says... "Mac OS X Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update" Perhaps i didn't search well but i can't find any posts about this. Maybe i am missing something really simple? All drives that are listed on the update have yellow triangles with exclamation points in them...even time machine disk. Can anyone help? Oh and the software update app shows i am all up to date, so it seems to know i can't update to 10.6.1 or 10.6.2. Thanks in advance.
  5. Radeon 4870 working in SL with Dual Monitor, QE / CI?

i have a 4870 by Asus 1GB of ddr5. it works fine with a single monitir but when i try my VGA projector on the second DVI port i get nothing. So far i have not found a solution. i'm using EFI10.4 with graphics = Y in boot plist. If someone knows how to get this to work please let me know. If not does anyone want to but a very lightly used asus 4870 card?
  6. 4870 and Snow Leopard with OpenCL Help

i never got this card working with the string in boot.plist. i had to use the EFI 10.4 and graphics = Y Also i did use the retail SL disc, but to use it i boot the computer first with a 132 boot CD, once it loads i eject that CD and put in the retail disc to install snow leopard. i tried using the installer file on the disc but had trouble with permissions. The graphics mode is what ever you want the boot to use like 800x600x32 or 1024x768x32i n my case it is 1920x1200x32 here is my boot.plist: <dict> <key>SMUUID</key> <string>xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx</string> <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1920x1200x32</string> <key>Theme</key> <string>Bullet</string> <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>-v</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>y</string> </dict> </plist>
  7. 4870 and Snow Leopard with OpenCL Help

i booted the install dvd from a usb stick with boot132 on it, and installed to a blank HD. then i added my bunch of kexts that i know work for my motherboard, and of course run the extra/extensions folder thru the kext utility to do its magic. I also install the chameleon 2 rc 3 then replace the boot (attached) with the boot from efi 10.4. set the graphics Enabler to Y. I guess i set my uuid or "Universal Unique Identifier" to the 3 places you are supposed to. And then i boot to the new drive. ( i also have a 10.5 system on another HD). in my system profiler i see my card as a 4870. ATI Radeon 4870 Series: Chipset Model: ATI Radeon 4870 Series Type: GPU Bus: PCIe Slot: Slot-1 PCIe Lane Width: x8 VRAM (Total): 1024 MB Vendor: ATI (0x1002) Device ID: 0x9440 Revision ID: 0x0000 ROM Revision: 113-B7710C-176 EFI Driver Version: 01.00.318 Displays: Cinema HD: Resolution: 1920 x 1200 Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888) Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Rotation: Supported Display Connector: Status: No Display Connected oh under pci cards i have : ATI Radeon 4870 Series: Name: ATY,Motmot Type: display Driver Installed: Yes Bus: PCI Slot: Slot-1 Vendor ID: 0x1002 Device ID: 0x9440 Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x1043 Subsystem ID: 0x0306 Revision ID: 0x0000 Link Width: x8 Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s link is only 8 because of my raid card on the other pcie slot. did i edit some other kext file?...hmmmm perhaps a search for ATY,Motmot might help you. boot.zip
  8. 4870 and Snow Leopard with OpenCL Help

com.apple.boot.plist in my /extra folder. here is the second half of that file. <key>Kernel</key> <string>mach_kernel</string> <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>-v</string> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>y</string> </dict> </plist> just edit using your favorite editor. i use Smultron free and works great. <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>y</string> is what you want to add to the file. sorry for the delay, i will try those open CL benchmarks and other programs. As far as the movies go... no there are no crashes. i just don't have two monitors at the same time. i guess i could set the resolution and swap cables. but i have just been using my 8800GT. OK i ran garage band.... no problems. and i ran open CL tests, no problems. i use efi 10.4.1 i think it is... chameleon 2 rc3 replace the boot file with efi from Netkas. Let me know how it works out.
  9. 4870 and Snow Leopard with OpenCL Help

I too am having problems with my 4870 setup. I have an Asus EAH4870 dark knight 1G, using a Q6600 quad on a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, 8GB ram. I use EFI10.4 with graphicsEnabler key string set to Y. I found almost everything was fine. i ran a world of warcraft game at good a FPS. ran x20 benchmark on it. no crashes. but the second DVI port doesn't work. i usually have this hooked to a DVI to VGA adaptor to drive a 1024X768 projector. I see the video during boot but when the OS X stuff comes on i get nothing. Display prefs does not show anything on second port. I have my 8800GT 512MB installed now and it works great. sleep, dual display, QE etc. After i post this i will boot my ATI 4870 hard drive setup and check it with the programs you mentioned. I'm curious if anyone has a fully 100% working setup using a 4870? (no crash and dual display) if so how do you do it??
  10. Does anyone know why i get a "You don’t have permission to open this page. You don’t have permission to view “RTGMac_v2.0.3.zip”." from the link?
  11. chameleon 2 and memory values

I found the smbios.plist in this link to be wrong. A simple typo but it doesn't work that way. The Key and String for the memory manufacturer, part number, and serial number, are reversed. I used this as my blank smbios.plist , filled in all the info, put it in my extras folder, and my "about this mac" and memory slots are all listed correctly. I hope Beerkex'd doesn't mind i just edited his smbios.plist. (too lazy to type out the whole thing when cut and paste work so much quicker) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>SMbiosvendor</key> <string>Apple Inc. or Apple Computer, Inc. depending on mac model</string> <key>SMbiosversion</key> <string>boot.rom.string.goes.here</string> <key>SMmanufacter</key> <string>Apple Inc. or Apple Computer, Inc. depending on mac model</string> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>mac, model goes here</string> <key>SMsystemversion</key> <string>1.0</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>serial.goes.here.doh</string> <key>SMfamily</key> <string>for Mac Pros put 'macpro', for iMacs just put 'mac'</string> <key>SMboardmanufacter</key> <string>Apple Inc. or Apple Computer, Inc. depending on mac model</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Apple.motherboard.model.goes.here</string> <key>SMexternalclock</key> <string>Your CPU FSB in MHz, non-multiplied</string> <key>SMmaximalclock</key> <string>Your CPU max speed in MHz</string> <key>SMmemtype</key> <string>put 19 for DDR2 RAM, 18 for DDR RAM</string> <key>SMmemspeed</key> <string>Memory speed in MHz</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_1</key> <string>For example Kingston Technology</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_2</key> <string>Or OCZ or whatever you have</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_3</key> <string>Or OCZ or whatever you have</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_4</key> <string>Or OCZ or whatever you have</string> <key>SMmempart_1</key> <string>your part number here</string> <key>SMmempart_2</key> <string>your part number here</string> <key>SMmempart_3</key> <string>your part number here</string> <key>SMmempart_4</key> <string>your part number here</string> <key>SMmemserial_1</key> <string>your SN here</string> <key>SMmemserial_2</key> <string>your SN here</string> <key>SMmemserial_3</key> <string>your SN here</string> <key>SMmemserial_4</key> <string>your SN here</string> </dict> </plist>
  12. Cannot correct Model Identifier = MacPro3,1

    I found that the key and string is reversed on the memory info in this guys smbios.plist For my system using a Q6600 running at 380 FSB (3.42GHZ CPU) i use the following as my smbios.plist located in my Extras folder. Memory is shown with correct brand, part number, speed and serial number. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd"> <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>SMbiosvendor</key> <string>Apple Computer, Inc.</string> <key>SMbiosversion</key> <string>MP31.88Z.00C1.B00.080209154<</string> <key>SMmanufacter</key> <string>Apple Computer, Inc.</string> <key>SMproductname</key> <string>MacPro3,1</string> <key>SMsystemversion</key> <string>1.0</string> <key>SMserial</key> <string>G87421B908S</string> <key>SMfamily</key> <string>macpro</string> <key>SMboardmanufacter</key> <string>Apple Computer, Inc.</string> <key>SMboardproduct</key> <string>Mac-F4208DC8</string> <key>SMexternalclock</key> <string>380</string> <key>SMmaximalclock</key> <string>3420</string> <key>SMmemtype</key> <string>19</string> <key>SMmemspeed</key> <string>760</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_1</key> <string>Walton Chaintech</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_2</key> <string>Walton Chaintech</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_3</key> <string>Walton Chaintech</string> <key>SMmemmanufacter_4</key> <string>Walton Chaintech</string> <key>SMmempart_1</key> <string>NU2G082-800P500</string> <key>SMmempart_2</key> <string>NU2G082-800P500</string> <key>SMmempart_3</key> <string>NU2G082-800P500</string> <key>SMmempart_4</key> <string>NU2G082-800P500</string> <key>SMmemserial_1</key> <string>D8042323</string> <key>SMmemserial_2</key> <string>E59C2222</string> <key>SMmemserial_3</key> <string>1A052322</string> <key>SMmemserial_4</key> <string>37052324</string> </dict> </plist>
  13. Silicon Image Raid + p5w + won't boot

I have a P5W dh Deluxe motherboard, i was using 2 drives on these silicon image E-Z raid ports on windows and in OS X. then something happened and they would not be recognized sometimes. Now after a few months of not using these drives i decided to try to get them working. I find that if i try to boot the computer into the bios setup things will happen ok until i get to the bios setup screen and after 5 - 10 seconds the computer will freeze. If i try to boot into OS X it will go to a white or a black screen and freeze. I assume the hardware is faulty, as i can't get the computer into a bios setup screen without crashing when drives are plugged into these ports. with no drives plugged in everything works fine. It just seems weird that more than one person has had this problem. Or perhaps this is a more common failure?
  14. OSX Server

I received a couple of CD's from apple with osx server 10.5.4 on them. just wanted to report that the install went well on my system. Asus P5W DH Deluxe Intel quad core 6600 nVidia GeForce 8800 GT
  15. Same for me. iTunes 8.0.2 OS X 10.5.6 Asus P5W DH Delux I first noticed music videos playing in iTunes were not smooth. They would look jerky. Then i noticed even my mouse would stick when moving. If i quit iTunes everything goes back to normal. all 4 cpu cores are under 5% while this is going on. I'm hoping some one knows whats going on.
