  1. Clover General discussion

Ok so after finally getting my dual boot going with Clover.... It is now hiding my "Microsoft Reserved" partition which I was using to boot Win7. The change that caused this? I switched out my storage drives. Yup that's it. It was working fine immediately before. What gives? Is there something I can do to force it to show it? Edit: Something I did under OS X made my windows unbootable. This has never happened before in any install I've done, ever. Or maybe I did something under Windows... Ugh I hate windows. Nevertheless a reinstall got me going.
  2. Ok so further testing... (just takes me a while as I rarely have the time) USB 2.0 Flash drive works in the VIA USB 3.0 ports. However USB 3.0 External Enclosure doesn't mount when connected to the same VIA ports. USB 3.0 Enclosure works with Intel USB 3.0 ports. However USB 2.0 Flash drives does not.... Again, USB Mouse/All Peripherals? Work fine in all ports... This is just strange to me. At least I now have enough ports working (Bought a 4 ports USB 2.0 Header PCI bracket) that I can get anything to work one way or another. Stability.. I'll get back on testing that. I did switch Atheros kext, thanks @TheRacerMaster. Edit: Well no crashes so far, so overall solid.
  3. Alright, well I *think* things are a bit better... At first I thought it was working great, no crashes. Peripherals such as kb/mouse and USB sound card were working immediately after wake (not disconnecting). So I thought it was a great sign. However USB flash drives still disconnect. I've also realized there's a difference between the Intel USB ports vs the VIA ones. The VIA ones at one point weren't detecting any usb drives. Weird. Furthermore once I started actually using my USB HDD enclosure it caused a USB sound issue I had before. Where sound went out suddenly with Quicktime. Though this time relaunching QT seemed to fix it, as before I had to completely restart as it was system wide... My only takeaway thus far: USB Drives are a different animal than just getting my peripherals to work. I think peripherals are mostly working as intended so that's great. My USB enclosure caused 2 crashes in the short time it was connected. The KP report doesn't seem to suggest to it was USB related: *** Panic Report *** panic(cpu 1 caller 0xffffff80225448fb): "thread_invoke: preemption_level 1, possible cause: blocking while holding a spinlock, or within interrupt context"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-2782.30.5/osfmk/kern/sched_prim.c:2213 Backtrace (CPU 1), Frame : Return Address 0xffffff8134d9b230 : 0xffffff802252bda1 0xffffff8134d9b2b0 : 0xffffff80225448fb 0xffffff8134d9b340 : 0xffffff80225421af 0xffffff8134d9b380 : 0xffffff7fa344db77 0xffffff8134d9b3a0 : 0xffffff7fa4da78e8 0xffffff8134d9b3f0 : 0xffffff7fa344e2a8 0xffffff8134d9b430 : 0xffffff8022ad73b4 0xffffff8134d9b480 : 0xffffff7fa344e388 0xffffff8134d9b4a0 : 0xffffff7fa344d776 0xffffff8134d9b510 : 0xffffff7fa344d9a2 0xffffff8134d9b550 : 0xffffff80227a2d0c 0xffffff8134d9b690 : 0xffffff80228739dd 0xffffff8134d9ba10 : 0xffffff8022884bcb 0xffffff8134d9bb20 : 0xffffff8022884776 0xffffff8134d9bd40 : 0xffffff802288e8d8 0xffffff8134d9bda0 : 0xffffff8022a152c0 0xffffff8134d9be90 : 0xffffff80229f2eb6 0xffffff8134d9bec0 : 0xffffff80229ed3ab 0xffffff8134d9bf10 : 0xffffff80229ed2fc 0xffffff8134d9bf50 : 0xffffff8022a4bc56 0xffffff8134d9bfb0 : 0xffffff8022635376 Kernel Extensions in backtrace: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily(3.2)[247581D8-DFC5-3AAE-B079-3D13F5514C2B]@0xffffff7fa343c000->0xffffff7fa3467fff com.insanelymac.ALXEthernet(1.0.2)[6348F8DB-1233-3D33-A7FD-66E3ED3E7EB6]@0xffffff7fa4da6000->0xffffff7fa4db3fff dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily(3.2)[247581D8-DFC5-3AAE-B079-3D13F5514C2B]@0xffffff7fa343c000 dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.9)[D8F585E8-2EE9-3135-8E37-A034123FE45C]@0xffffff7fa2c47000 BSD process name corresponding to current thread: smbd Boot args: -gux_defer_usb2 -gux_no_idle kext-dev-mode=1 UseKernelCache Mac OS version: 14E46 Kernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 14.4.0: Thu May 28 11:35:04 PDT 2015; Could it be power related? I noticed Clover has a setting to give devices more voltage or something. Not sure what to try next.
  4. Alright, trying patching the Apple kext instead, will post results ( fingers crossed). IOReg dump, I think I did it right: EnzoFXIOReg.zip
  5. My usb issues are strange. On a Z77x-UD3H. Using the genericusb kext, and the gux-dever-usb/gux-no-idle flags. Other than that it's a pretty minimal config with Clover I believe (new to Clover). I'll attach it in case anyone wants to look at it =P. But anyways, sometimes a port just stops working, even though they all can work. Furthermore after sleep it's very likely one will stop working. Also, after sleep some stuff unmounts, mainly my kb/mouse which is annoying. The latest revelation is that moving my mouse to my monitor's hub allowed to remain connected, which is strange because it's still connected to a USB 3 connection at the back of the board (My board has no rear USB 2.0 ports). Ugh... USB should not be this hard to get it work haha. Other notable settings: In bios: CPU PLL overvoltage disabled. XHCI auto and also tried enabled. XHCI/EHCI hand-off enabled. Tried sudo pmset - a standby 0 and sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0 Not sure what else to try next besides the dsdt edits in the OP. config.txt
  6. Z77X-UD3H here, Just got clover going with this new board. I noticed that after sleep, while kb/mouse does wake the computer, it doesn't wake the display. I have to press power button for it to turn on. Also, kb/mouse (maybe other devices as well) aren't responsive for about a good minute until after it wakes. Can someone point me in the right direction. I'm also new to Clover and it's expansive feature set. Always used Chameleon before with a no fuss board (With appropriate dsdt edits) that got me from like SL to Mavericks. Edit: Ok so after disabling CPU PLL overvoltage in BIOS, the display wakes as it should with a kb/mouse press when waking from sleep. (BTW is Clover the reason it takes like 10+ extra seconds for the computer to shutdown after the display goes blank? that's on top of what I think is already another 10 seconds from log-out to display sleep, grr)
  7. Yeah, but I deleted the module as per the guide. Yet it remains, I will delete it again since I am not using the module. I just don't understand what it does or if and why and when I need it hah. The official forum post for the module doesn't say any of that (or the guide I followed), so more researching is needed... or leave it be as it's working lol.
  8. Ah that worked, haha, shoulda known as I did it more than once before too. Can someone shed some light on that filenvram in /extra, that guide has me delete it at the end, then restart. However when I restart there's still an nvram.00000.plist in there. Last time I deleted it again, and all was well. Am I supposed to leave it? I don't even know what it does so I should probably figure that out first...
  9. Just updated to 10.9.2, and now can't login to Facetime or Messages. Something along the lines of "error occured, try again" Man I was so glad to finally have them working after the great rampagedev post: http://rampagedev.wordpress.com/os-x-tweaks/how-to-create-a-recovery-partition-and-enable-all-features-of-icloud-and-imessages Perhaps something needs to be updated on my end? On the plus side, I think this updated fixed the Quicklook lag for me.
  10. So I just installs Mavericks on a partition and one of the first things is the text in the browser. The rest of the system text maybe was a tad smoother or more aggressive with it's aliasing? or smoothing. However in some sites it just looks plain awful and hard to read, i.e. not easy on the eyes. I think the same sites look a tad better in Safari, but still not as crisp as it was in 10.7 I tried disabling smoothing in the system prefs, but it doesn't seem to change those particular sites where it looks bad. Any ideas? Edit: Well after a couple of restarts I think it's finally reflected the change of no font smoothing. I will try now turning it up a some and see how it goes.
  11. Yeah, there's always just the BIOS. It just seems like it's something that should just work. Oh well. Clover also something to try soon.
  12. So I'm still on r1627VS and still on 10.7, which was a icloud/facetime patched version IIRC. Anyways, I've tried more recent versions, and they've behaved the same. I did try out 10.8 on a separate drive, and ran r2048. It boots ML fine, however only from my USB drive. I tried migrating my main SSD's chameleon install to the same, newer build, however it won't boot my 10.7 install. This wasn't a big deal as I never made the jump to 10.8 due to other software bugs/issues. But it did make it annoying having to go into that 10.8 install. Anyways, now I'm looking to jump to Mavericks, and it's the same thing. I think I've tried now r2255. I before thought maybe it was a cham bug that needed to be worked out, but now I'm thinking it's something with my configuration? Anyways it can boot the 10.9 installer, but said USB installer with r2255 WON'T boot my trusty 10.7. Only my old, main r1627VS can seem to boot it. I don't understand what could be causing this. Any suggestions? Thank you for your time.
  13. I think device_hfsplus_0.png isn't being rendered in r2255. Made three different installers earlier with three different versions (for other reasons =P) and found it interesting that this latest one didn't show the theme properly.
  14. Clover Themes

Ah, sweet, thanks Slice! Right after I churn out Mavericks'ed theme blackosx =p.
