  1. didn't make any difference. the symptom is that when i choose USB from the F12 the screen freezes on that same screen and nothing else happens. looking at the flash drive, there is no disk access light.
  2. any tricks to booting off the usb stick? choosing USB from F12 does nothing. THe XPS just hangs til i reboot.
  3. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

Success! I set PCIRoot=4, as advised by kvonlinee and now all drives show up.
  4. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

Hmm, it saw 4 drives on 10.6. I moved drives around so I have a 2TB and 1.5TB in there now, so not the end of the world. Just nags me that it doesn't work right.
  5. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

I successfully installed 10.7.5 using the drivers pack from slave Zero (Dell XPS 410 Drivers 10.18.2012.zip) and everything works except the system only sees two SATA drives. Any ideas?
  6. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

anybody do the 10.6.3 update? Any gotcha's?
  7. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

Yeah, it will work. Your SB won't, but the on-board sound should work just fine. I'd upgrade the video card, but it's all good.

I'm now up and running with 10.5.8 & 10.6.2 without using a flash drive. my steps: 1 Installed Snow Leopard to a black HD using a real mac (Mac Pro) 2 used Rob G's files from this post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...38&st=1000# 3 Used Chameleon RC4 4 used netkas aty-init for my Nvidia 9500: http://netkas.org/?p=116 5 turned RAID on in Bios Everything works, including Audio and CI/QE.

Works now. Turns out I just needed to make the third terminal command for installing Chameleon point to the correct volume. It defaults to the boot volume and I was installing it another drive. If it helps anyone else: - Install boot to the partition's root directory: sudo cp boot / just added "Volumes/Snow" to it and all worked. Now I just need drivers for my ATI 2600 Pro.

Man, maybe I'm just too stupid to live, but even when after installing the boot1h from your Chameleon folder I still get the boot1h:error. I'm installing it using the normal manual chameleon method. Anything else I'm supposed to do?
  11. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

anybody get the full download? I'm stuck at the same spot.
  12. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

    Thanks! Seeders needed.
  13. Dell XPS 410 Resource Extravaganza

Ok, I think I'm getting close. It boots into the installer flash drive but goes black when it should go to the first screen. I'm fairly sure this is because I've replaced the stock 7300 with an ATI 2600 Pro (big speed boost). But what I don't know, is what to change on the flash drive so this doesn't happen. Sorry for the ignorant question, but my google-fu has failed me.

Cool, Now if you be willing, can you sum up all the steps you used for us slower students who are still stuck with on the spinning boot screen when we try to boot from the installer flash drive? Thanks.
