  1. @denodra simply use the generic DSDT.aml to install OS X on a 755. Depending on your graphic card, you could have to customize or download a specific DSDT from this thread. I use a GT610 with no modification, HD5450 needs patch, ... To get sound working, replace /S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext by the Macpeet's V2 version from post #197. Still working after 10.11.3 upgrade.
  2. Hi, update to 10.11.2 was easy on my Optiplex 755 MT. Nothing to restore after update. Even AppleHDA.kext ! And SATA devices are now visible in System Information @ernani. If your target disk has the same size or is larger than the source. You can use dd. The best method is to boot from an install disk or usb or HD recovery. Launch Terminal from tools menu (just after choosing installation langage). Verify twice the numbers of source/target disks with "diskutil list" before dd . #dd if=/dev/disk# of=/dev/disk# bs=1m You will get a perfect copy (same EFI/HFS/Recovery, same UUID). You can swap the disks when copy is finished to test the target clone.
  3. When using a patched DSDT.aml from this thread, all DSDT fixes by clover can be unchecked in config.plist : <key>DSDT</key> <dict> <key>Debug</key> <false/> <key>DropOEM_DSM</key> <false/> <key>Fixes</key> <dict> <key>AddHDMI_8000000</key> <false/> <key>AddIMEI_80000</key> <false/> <key>AddPNLF_1000000</key> <false/> <key>DeleteUnused_400000</key> <false/> <key>FIX_ACST_4000000</key> <false/> <key>FIX_ADP1_800000</key> <false/> <key>FIX_RTC_20000</key> <false/> <key>FIX_S3D_2000000</key> <false/> <key>FixRegions_10000000</key> <false/> <key>NewWay_80000000</key> <true/> </dict> <key>Name</key> <string>DSDT.aml</string> <key>ReuseFFFF</key> <false/> </dict>
  4. Hello, you can inspect the crash reports with console. Each Firefox or other crashes must produce a dump. You can try a boot with no graphic card. Screen connected to the internal VGA (with no acceleration). If you have an other machine, you could test a remote connexion (VLC or AppleRemoteAccess). I already had same issues with faulty memory. Solved after testing memories and removing one. It's easy to test after removing one and another... many tests (and hours) to identify the culprit (local graphics, memory,...)...
  5. Multi-boot may be off-topic but mostly outdated. Virtualbox is our friend
  6. Hello Every Optiplex 755 owners, Yet another patched DSDT I applied usual patches to the original A22 for Optiplex 755 : IRQ, HPET, SMBUS, LPC, insert HDEF, PEGP, DTGP, ... and cut some useless devices (SPK, COMA, COMB, FDC, WMI, ...) EHC1&2 are renamed EH01&2 for 10.11. My first version crashed early during boot (like owbp some pages before). I spent hours to compare and modify the generic and my patched version and succeed when I transferred "MEMP" from generic to the patched version. Who knows why ? Everything is OK but unfortunately, as with generic dsdt, System Profile can't show anything about sata (an error occurred...). I tried many injections in dsdt and even old kexts from 10.8 when ICH9R was in compatibility list but no luck. ...No obvious advantage compared to the generic version Let's be satisfied to run ElCapitan on these ancient machines DSDT-Optiplex755-fromA22.aml.zip
  7. @MacNB, Many thanks for your patched DSDT. I failed appliing your solution and patching _INI in the DSDT of my Vostro 200. The Vostro rebooted or hanged at wake up. As a last test, I put your version for Inspiron (from post #16), I only added an injection for HD5450 graphic card Now I can sleep/wake the Vostro 200 under OS Yosemite 10.10.5
  8. Unfortunately, these versions are not better. V3 : No device at all V4 : outputs OK, only rear In Line appears and is functional. Front mic is not visible I am ready for further tests. @owbp I have a microphone but any sound device with a jack cable could do the job
  9. I found a mono mic and Audacity to test my 755's sound inputs. Line input works great but nothing comes from front microphone input Almost perfect. Using rear port is an easy workaround. @jackeyg1 RCscripts are useful on our non-UEFI machines at least to dump nvram to /nvram.plist at shutdown and reload it at startup. It is necessary to identify the DefaultBootDisk "LastBootedVolume" in config.plist. You can also declare "sudo nvram Clover.MountEFI=Yes" to mount EFI partition at boot time.
  10. @MacPeet I installed your patched AppleHDA.kext from post #197 (v2) on my Optiplex 755. Sound is OK to rear line-out and front headphone , inputs are visible (but not yet tested). I used the "patched AppleHDA" method : no clover patch in config.plist and no realtekALC injector kext, SIP 0x03, refresh cache and 2 reboots I am glad to throw away VoodooHDA which needs a LaunchAgent script to refresh setup and stop static/input noises after each reboot. Thanks a lot for this thread

    AppleHDA ALC662 10.9.2

Thanks. This AppleHDA.kext for ALC662 is the only patched kext working on my old ga-g31m-s2l. OK on Yosemite 10.10 GM3 with the above DSDT patch and Chameleon-svn2399

    OS X Lion Sources OUT!

@tle88 : my old Samsung printer works fine under Lion. I installed Foomatic-rip+Ghostscript+Samsung-gdi for Mac OsX www.linuxfoundation.org/collaborate/workgroups/openprinting/macosxsamsung-gdi With a minor customization to use european A4 paper without margin problem : I had to add "-sPAPERSIZE=a4" on the gs command in the printer ppd file in /Library/Printers/PPDs/Content/Resources/en.lproj. I tried Splix with success, without paper size problem, but the rendering was poor (few gray levels). Foomatic-rip gives best results. Phil

Lion does run with pentium DC E5200 on my ga-g31m-s2l and speedstep is OK with Chameleon.

    Dell Optiplex GX520

I tried again to upgrade my gx520/pentiumD from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 on a spare disk with legacy_kernel-10.6.8. It runs with major issues : - runs very slowly, - usb devices not mountable (but visible in sys.profiler) - airport (add-on pci card) is broken Simple workarounds (replacing IOPCI, IOUSB...) do not solve the problems. Gfx gma950 OK with QE/CI. With DSDT, no need to replace AppleIntelIntegratedframebuffer.kext.
