  1. Update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 combo fails

Good deal man. I wish I went with the 123 bootloader. But i've spent so many hours getting it to work with kalyway I don't wanna try the bootloader and have it end up not working. Unless it works with kalyway distro to just update as i please.
  2. How can I increase my Leopard partition size?

For those of you that are experiencing the problem of losing your active flag that DON'T have windows and whatnot to fall back on, try out the following: Boot from your install disk with the -s flag. After everything is loaded do the following: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 update write quit reboot This did the trick for me. You should also verify/repair the disk and permissions, though I noticed this will break the time machine fix, so you'll need to reinstall the IONetworkingFamily.kext and reset it's permissions to 755 and own it back to root:wheel.

  5. Update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 combo fails

did that end up working for ya computer?
  6. Update from 10.5.2 to 10.5.5 combo fails

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=109102 I was having a mad issues getting to 10.5.5 (only version that supported my 9400gt) but this did the trick for me. When i first did it i could only boot into safe mode (-x) but i finally figured out it was my video card crashing it in regular mode, which was fixed with nvinject and nvdarwin, so now i'm running 10.5.5 with, as far as i can tell, 100% compatibility.
  7. Kalyway 10.5.2 Rosetta Fix

whenever I don't know what to do for a certain file extension, I hit google. Did the same thing in this case. Just googled .7z and got the extractor for mac. Good luck!
  8. Kalyway 10.5.2 Rosetta Fix

I'm not sure. I haven't tracked down the actual REASON to why the PPC apps won't translate properly, just a solution. I'll keep you all posted on and findings.
  9. Hey all. So I'd been having a problem with my .apps running (notably WoW) and had to do a lot of searching aroudn forums and reading replies to posts to figure out how to get it fixed, so I thought I'd put a post here so if you're having the problem, you have an easy spot to come to fix it. Basically the problem is with a bad translate file preventing your hackin0sh from reading PPC apps correctly. (At least that's my understanding, I'm fairly new to this) You can get a new translate file that iSynic has kindly hosted at the following link. http://hosted.filefront.com/iSynic Once you have translate.7z downloaded, you need to unzip it to a directory of your choice. For simplicity sake, I unzipped it straight to my "Leopard" drive. Then you'll need to open terminal and execute the following: sudo cp /Volumes/Leopard/(your folder, if applicable)/translate /usr/libexec/oah Press enter, put in your password, and viola! You should be setup up and ready.

  11. World of Warcraft Installation

This is actually a rosetta problem, I have come to find out and you need to replace rosetta translator. There's a link to a fix on these forums somewhere, I'm too lazy atm to search for the link. Edit: Here's the link to the file http://hosted.filefront.com/iSynic It's called translate.7z. You'll need a 7z unzipper to extract it. I put the 'translate' file in the zip on my main partition "/Volumes/Leopard/Translate" and then opened terminal and typed the following. sudo cp /Volumes/Leopard/translate /usr/libexec/oah Enter your password, the file copies and bam, welcome to working PPC .apps.
  12. World of Warcraft Installation

I'm having this problem too. I get an error about Illegal Instruction though, but it won't launch. Anyone have a solution?
  13. Performance tweaks?

Heya, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any performance tweaks I can do for my Kalyway 10.5.2. I originally tried Leo4All but it would always crash in installation. But I'm running the following: OS: Kalyway 10.5.2 Mobo: Asus A8V-E SE with AMD Athlon 64 RAM: 1 GIG VIDEO: ATI Radeon 2600 HD HD: Seagate 500gig Barracuda SATA DVD: Samsung DVD-RW SATA I know with my setup I really shouldn't be having dock lag, nor dashboard lag, or itunes lag and such. Are there things I should get installed or tweaked? I'm totally new to the Mac OS in general, so I'm a little lost. Any tips are greatly appreciated!!!
  14. So after much hardware replacing (SATA HDD and CDROM) I got through to the actually installation with mouse. I'm a complete noobie at this and was just troubleshooting off of hunches and gleans of information, but I've hit a wall. Seems like no matter what I do, after the DVD verifies and starts installing, it freezes (no mouse movement) when the progress bar is about an inch in (anywhere from "1hr40" to "1hr20" left in estimated time). I don't have enough memory for it to be the memory problem (running 1gig of mem). MoBo: Asus A8V-E SE Memory: 1gig (2x 512) HDD: Seagate 500gig SATA CDROM: Samsung SATA DVD RW I don't know what other info you need, but I haven't been able to find anyone with this problem that knows how to fix it. I figure if I can get to this installation screen, I should be able to get it running on my system, but can't figure out what error I"m running into, or how to even log it. Please help!!! Edit: Last thing in the log before crash: Initializing new flat-package receipt. started (uid 96) Opened receipt database on '/Volumes/Misc/' with schema 17 Extracting.... After it starts extracting, it freezes. Please Help! Update 1: I've gotten the installation to go all the way through, but I had to install on old ATA HD?, which obviously gets stuck at 'waiting for root device' when I try and boot. So frusterating. Any idea why it freezes up on my brand new SATA HD? I'm currently trying to see if this disk cloner will do the trick by copying the ATA to the sATA. Wish me luck! Update 2: No dice on drive cloning. It locked up just like installations, which makes me think something is going on with my SATA drive. But I don't know anything about sata to know where to start, Could definitely use some help on this. Update 3: Returned and replaced HD with new one thinking maybe I just had a bad HD, but that's not that case. Sometimes the installation bar goes half way, sometime only like an 1/8th, but the fact is it freezes every time when I'm trying to install to sata HD. I don't know much about sata, but can you have two sata drives hooked up to the same port on the mobo like you can with IDE? If so I can try and track down a chord that lets me do that (ones that came with HDD/DVDROM only have two ends and are both plugged in to their respective SATA1 and SATA2 slots on my MoBo.
