  1. After update to 10.4.9 only 1.6 Ghz

I have a pentium 4 531, and usgin Jas updater my cpu is detected as 2ghz and not 3ghz (booting with nohpet kernel, hpet kernel simply restart my computer). Very bad Xbench performance. I get the latest kernel from irc (nohpet), and passing kernel parameter fsb=200 and system goes fast, better xbench and 3ghz detected properly, but it's not as fast as in 10.4.8 and with poor Xbench. I will mantain the 10.4.8 partition as my main OS, and the other partition with 10.4.9 to test newest kernel.
  2. Hi, I have a MB asrock 775dual-vsta, with alc888 using the kext made by skippyretard. So, I have 6 output channels. If I heard some 5.1 sound throug VLC, all the speakers are working fine. But the most part of my sounds are simply steros. What I would like is some stereo to 5.1 upscaling, all speakers working: Front and rear left same sound, front and rear right same sound, subwoofer, and if possible, center if left and right sound are the same. Anyone knows if this is possible in OS X?
  3. ALC88x 10.4.8 Kext

It works!! thanks. But now the volume control doesn't work. Is normal no working volume control using aggregate device? (the volume control of itunes works well.
  4. ALC88x 10.4.8 Kext

Hello Skippy, I have tested the alc888 package and my results, on an Asrock 775Dual-vsta (alc888) was: installing: 6 chan+digital -> no sound (and no devices found) 6 chan -> 4 output lines found, but as independent devices: I can select only one of the output line, and have sound from front speakers. Selecting other output, I have sound from rear speakers. Selecting the third line out, sound from central speaker and subwoofer. Selecting the four line out, not sound at all. 3 chan + digital -> detected one line out (the front speakers) and digital output (not tried) 3 chan -> only one line out. All the configurations with working sound have at least (I don't remember exactly) two input . I hope I can have 5.1 sound. From only 2 channels out and no input (with azalia), going to 2 channels out and mic (first alc888kext from skippy), now we have 6 channels (the 3 lines out) and input, but lines out are not working at the same time. Skippy, you are in the good way! Thanks a lot. If you need more info, or you want me to test more pkgs, please tell me.
  5. Hello, atteched is the alc888 I have installed without problems. I renamed the AppleAzalia also. The kernel I'm using is the semtex kernel from de Jas 10.4.8 reseed, and the sound and the mic works fine. I wish I can have 5.1 audio output, but we must wait for skippyretard to make a full working alc888. ALC888.zip
  6. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

I have your same board, and I have the AppleHDA working with 2 channels out and mic working, using the kext provided by skippyretard a lot of post ago... (I have in my home's computer a backup of the kext if you wish).
  7. Hi thestevo, I have the same board as you, and I have the mic working. I have two channels output also (all using the back connnectors). All of this using the AppleHDA.kext that provided skippyretard in post http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...2859&st=160 What's exactly for the "colonels system..."?
  8. Hello, I have 10.4.8 from the JaS DVD reseed on my machine with intel proc, using the semtex kernel tha come on the DVD. Is safe for me to install the update, or I will need to apply the patch or install a new kernel? thanks
  9. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

No, I renamed Azalia.kext to Azalia.kext.old This way, for the system is no more a kext and don't load it on boot (I renamed it because I like have a backup of that kext if I have troubles with sound later)
  10. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

For me is working fine (after renaming the AppleAzalia kext). I have sound from the speakers and the mic works using the rear connector. My mobo is the Asrock 775Dual-vsta
  11. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Skippyretard, you're the man!! I have my ALC888 whith mic in! sound out ok, but also works mic, using the rear jack, not the front jack. It's the only I've tried at the moment, but for me, it's a great step to have mic!! (My mobo is the asrock 775dual-vsta)
  12. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Hi Taruga, I send you the ouput of the codec for my ALC888 (Asrock 775dual-vsta). I hope you can do a kext for this codec. Thanks alc888.txt
  13. AppleHDA Solution - Work in progress

Please Taruga, any chances to have this working for a ALC888 (my mb is asrock 775dual-vsta) Thanks a lot
  14. Error with ALC888 in Semthex 10.4.8 (SOLVED)

Hi, I have your MB and I have soun d (2 channel, input? not tried). I have one time the same error message about appleazalia.kext, and I reinstalled the appleazalia using the Jas 10.4.8 DVD, selecting the package, and changing the file as said m.muller in the thread: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...25533&st=20 I can see you have a HD ATA (I think no SATA). What are your xbench results? I don't know if I have to buy a SATA to have more speed in HD or I have something wrong in my system.
  15. Asrock 775Dual VSTA

My results are: Results 26.34 System Info Xbench Version 1.3 System Version 10.4.8 (8L2127) Physical RAM 1024 MB Model ACPI Drive Type HDS722512VLAT20 Disk Test 26.34 Sequential 24.55 Uncached Write 22.98 14.11 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 21.92 12.40 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 30.80 9.01 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 24.19 12.16 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 28.40 Uncached Write 11.93 1.26 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 38.23 12.24 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 83.50 0.59 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 52.92 9.82 MB/sec [256K blocks] Strange, because I run Xbench this morning and the results in random where low (about 7 mb/s and 14 mb/s the best result). The only thing I do betwen this morning and now was restart the computer to check the bios option, and I haven't changed anything in the bios or in the system. Do you think my results now are "good" for PATA? Thanks
