  1. I have xp on hard drive 1, all 1 partition. and i have osx on 1 of 2 partitions on hard drive 2. idk how to boot into osx and i tried using the chain0 you wrote, but it just gave me a chain loading error or whatever. any help? is this b/c i have it on 2 different hard drives?
  2. Would this be fixed if I put the SATA drive in an enclosure and used it as an external USB drive? Is this possible?
  3. So basically I have to try different discs b/c I can't disable the SATA ports...since that's where I need to install Leopard. Edit: What kexts would I have to put on it? Where would I find them?
  4. How do I do that? If it's from the CD then I can't do it b/c I can't get that far yet. Please explain if it's otherwise. Also, one thing I had heard was that it could be a messed up MBR, so I tried fixing that, to no avail.
  5. That gray screen is just when you don't choose verbose boot mode. So you probably never saw it b/c of that. I will try what you wrote within the hour I think and let you know ASAP. Edit: So I tried using that boot command...Same result. Still can't get to any sort of options like disk utility or install screen. Attached are pictures of the errors.
  6. I cannot even get to that screen. It stops way before I get to any kind of screen to choose any options.
  7. Alright, I'm trying to install Leopard on my computer. iATKOS v4i, but every time I tried, it froze on the gray screen with the Apple logo with a No kind of sign in front of it. When I booted into verbose mode it came up with a firewire error (I don't think it's the error b/c it goes on, if it is important, I can let you know what it is), and it goes on, then stops with the message "Still waiting for root device." I've looked into it online and I've tried one or two things, but to no avail. I have yet to really find a clear or definite fix for this problem, or at least one I understand. I guess I should get into my specs now, huh? I've attatched my CPUZ results in both html and txt as the text file seemed a lot more verbose (a.k.a. Gibberish-y) to me. Those should have the info about my processor and my board and memory... -Intel® Core2 Duo CPU E4600 @ 2.40GHz -Intel P35/G33/G31 rev. A2 -2 modules of DDR2, PC2-6400 (400 MHz), 2048 MBytes, OCZ memory And from what I've read, these are all okay, right? But for my drives it's a little bit more confusing... I have 2 DVD drives... -AQ5008E WMC690X SCSI Dvd drive (This drive is IDE) -TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-S202N Dvd drive (IDE as well. This is the drive I have the iATKOS DVD in to install from) I then have 2 HDD's... -I have one that is 149GB's formatted to NTFS and this is my main drive and has my Windows install on it. It's IDE. This drive is an ST3160023A HDD. I have another drive, this drive I just bought new on NewEgg and have done nothing to it, no formatting, no partitioning or anything, just plugged it in. It is 500GB's and I want to make 150GB's formatted for OSX and the rest (350GB's) as NTFS for shared storage (I'd used NTFS-3G for this I've been told). It is a SATA drive. It's a WDC WD5000AAJS-22YFA0 HDD. Now going back to my problem, when installing OSX, the "Still waiting for root device" error comes up and keeps repeating. Is this caused by the different configuration between IDE drives and SATA drive? Is it a problem with me doing nothing to the new drive? Does it need to be formatted and partitioned prior to trying to install OSX? Is there a problem with the MBR? Or am I just effed I really really really want to get this working! I'll try everything you guys suggest! I feel like I've given you all the info I can, but if you need more I can try and find out for you. Umm....yeah...I think that's everything...I don't know what else to say...haha! Please help! Thank you soooo much in advance! CaptJ AIM: JJMaul5 E-mail: CaptJesus@gmail.com cpuz.htm cpuz.txt
