  1. Hey, thanks for that and for your help in the other thread too. I updating clover and also your config file but I'm still getting stuck. The verbose boot always finishes but then I always end up stuck on some sort of black screen with a cursor. Usually it's one with the apple logo and loading bar but occasionally I get other UI elements appear too.
  2. Not just a little laggy, it's laggy beyond being even a little usable. I'm on 10.13.6 and I'm running the 40.105 drivers. About This Mac shows PNY Nvidia GTX 970 4GB and the NVidia tray icon shows Web Drivers. Also my dock is see through. But that's where all the good news ends everything is EXTREMELY laggy: 1. clicking things in safari doesnt work, I have to right click and select open 2. hovering over the dock takes 3 seconds for the zoom animation to work and only has 1 frame 3. the terminal app wont update the output until I click it or resize it (macOS installer had this problem too which concerns me) 4. A lot of the times I still boot to a black screen with a cursor and have to try again. Other times I have a cursor with the apple logo. One time it booted all the way to my desktop (I have auto login on) and the boot screen fadeout animation never finished so I could see my desktop behind a semi-transparent black apple logo.... 5. Clover just freezes when I go to the "mount EFI" tab 6. Dragging windows around is quite laggy 7. Videos don't play on youtube.com (it took a long time to even get safari open and loaded to youtube to test this) It's honestly hard for me to say if these are GPU problems or somehow other problems with my hackintosh given how weird some of the issues are, but everything just seems SUPER sluggish. I have also tried unticking "inject intel" but it didn't fix the problem. The only thing on the GPU page I have ticked is "use web drivers". and platform-id 0x59120003 (my iGPU is connectorless and I boot with HDMI with the 970). I'm on Skylake though and don't know if I should be using this ID or if I need 0x19120001. Honestly I don't know what this id is for. My specs are: Specs: Alienware X51 R3 Intel Core i7 6700 3.40GHz Skylake PNY Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 / Intel HD Graphics 530 RAM 8GB Sound: Realtek ALC898 Realtek RTL8168/8111 gigabit Ethernet Adapter / Intel dual band Wireless AC 7265 BIOS settings: https://github.com/Macmee/x51r3/blob/master/50023985_1183002448530270_2506874944982351872_n.jpg https://github.com/Macmee/x51r3/blob/master/50031923_389201901815271_1822434394120388608_n.jpg https://github.com/Macmee/x51r3/blob/master/50071375_1621750064635454_6064802625805615104_n.jpg https://github.com/Macmee/x51r3/blob/master/50116063_554462538367168_8409211722623090688_n.jpg https://github.com/Macmee/x51r3/blob/master/50247539_225020681712864_7158360737419624448_n.jpg https://github.com/Macmee/x51r3/blob/master/50325144_227021061512614_2354690977941159936_n.jpg https://github.com/Macmee/x51r3/blob/master/50565902_292917658247017_408955026304663552_n.jpg and I've attached my EFI and config. config.plist
  3. Aaah. Thank you for this, it was helpful. I compared our plists and I realized I made two bad mistakes: 1. I was continuing to inject NVIDIA and had "web drivers" checked off even after installing web drivers in high sierra 2. My SMBIOS was set to iMac18,1. I tried your MacBook one but it didn't work so I switched it to iMac17,1 and now my NVIDIA card is recognized! I still have two problems though: 1. The UI is very sluggish and stuttery. For example hovering over the dock takes 3 seconds for the zoom animation to go, and its just one frame (jumps right to being zoomed). Same for dragging around windows etc, very laggy. It's weird because About This Mac shows the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4095 MB now. Also the NVidia tray icon shows that it's on the web driver, and I can even plug in and use my external HDMI monitor now fine. But it's still all really laggy, I don't know why! 2. Most of the time when I boot up I get stuck on the apple logo screen with the progress bar at different percentages (this is after the verbose part is done so I cant see why). I'd say the system successfully boots 1 in 4 times.
  4. Problem: When I boot up, I get to the apple logo and loading bar. The loading bar fills up to random spots, 50%, 75%, 100% and then the cursor appears in the top left. I can move the cursor, I can SSH into the machine, I can even VNC into it (which shows the loading screen too). The login screen never seems to display. ALSO I tried booting with the -v flag and it never hangs, it all passes and goes to the loading screen where it proceeds to get stuck. Therefore, I have no direction in terms of what to debug. Steps I Did To Install High Sierra: 1. Made a usb stick with clover 2. Stuck OsxAptioFix2Drv-free2000.efi in drivers64UEFI to make it boot 3. added nvda_drv=1 and injected nvdia drivers and set platform id to 3 4. installed MacOS 5. it booted fine the first time 6. followed this guide exactly to install web drivers: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/fix-for-failure-nvidia-web-driver-on-high-sierra-black-screen-panics.234390/ I installed version 105. 7. rebooted and got a black screen, but DVI worked (I was using HDMI) and so did remote desktop. The Mac at this point detected the GPU just fine, but only DVI would work 8. It never booted again, and always now gets stuck on the loading screen with the mouse Not really sure what to do at this point. It doesn't hang with -v since it continues to the stuck screen with the mouse so I can't see any error logs or anything here. I have the latest Lilu and WhateverGreen. The only thing I can think of is maybe I need to disable my iGPU? The problem is though, I don't see a way to do that in my BIOS (screenshots attached below). The funny thing too is that I get stuck on the apple bootup screen but I have a cursor, I can SSH, I can VNC into the device (which also shows the stuck bootup screen). And if I just leave the computer in this state it will even put itself to sleep. It's as if the entire system is up and running, but I'm stuck on this loading screen, and also HDMI and displayport don't work. Does anyone have ANY ideas what I can do? 5. screenshot of the issue: https://i.imgur.com/MLw2Cdy.jpg my system is an Alienware x51 r3 with a 6700 i7 and gtx 970 running esxi 6.7 high sierra vm latest NVidia drivers installed "virtualization" enabled in BIOS and the GPU is set to being passthrough'd to the VM problem: I go to the web client for ESXi and start the VM, and it boots up but it's not using the gtx 970. After logging into MacOS and going to system profiler, it just shows the GPU as "NVIDIA Chip Model" and the NVIDIA system prefs pane doesn't show any devices connected at all.
  6. I have an iMac now but this $400 deal on the Acer Aspire Intel Core 2 Quad 8200 is too good to pass up. I want to run OS X on it (obviously). Would it play nice: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...=&langid=EN
  7. Installation went beautifully, but after installation I noticed the device wouldn't recognize USB devices. I turned off the machine then plugged in my USB thumb stick and turned it back on, it was then recognized. For a device to be recognized I have to turn off the device, and even after this it can only recognize ONE usb device at a time. It doesn't matter which port I'm using.
  8. Hey, I posted on EEEUsers but they don't allow discussing Hackintoshes. There are tuts for installing on the EEE, but none that show how to dual boot OSX and XP. If someone could show me or send me a guide, I would really appreciate it. Thank you, Dave
