Vega Frontier Edition on High Sierra

Finally have some success with my ASUS ROG STRIX OC. admittedly im not 100% sure what i did to get it working... its also not perfect yet. But im getting good luxmark speeds and no jet engine fans. I think turning off EnableZeroRPM and setting Accoustic Limit (RPM) to 150 maybe be something. Im idling at around 1000rpm... which is pretty quiet really and liveable with for sure. I might look in to it further if it starts to annoy me. Thanks for all the help you guys have put in to this.... especially @CMMChris RadeonVegaLowFansSpeed.kext.zip vega64-mac-pp_table-gen-V1.5 ASUS ROG Strix .numbers

Vega Frontier Edition on High Sierra

Im using a ASUS Vega 64 ROG Strix on 10.13.6 (with latest security update) I still have issue that once fans start going they don't stop. I think ive tried everything in this thread. (probably a few times each) Ive tried Injecting the powerplay table in to Clover and in to RadeonVegaLowFanSpeed.Kext I can modify clock etc. so the tables are working ok. Although i dont think any of the Fan control stuff is making any differnce.. like MAX RPM etc. just no matter what i set once the fan goes it just wont stop... its like a jet taking off. one other anomaly... somewhere along the way the terminal command to show fan speed, core clock etc. has stopped showing me fan speed info. maybe its related? any other ideas or stuff to check? or anyone with this card would like to share their clover? Thanks!!
  4. What did you do to get webdrivers working? i just get black screen when i enable.. have Lilu and nvidiafixup but my 4k display just black... wont boot.
  5. So if we have display port its not possible to use Web Drivers yet?
  6. Enabling CPU EIST in bios seemed to give me a big performance jump.... I had voodoo set to 19 and had built a custom ssdt... but I will try yours to see if it's better. Thanks! I'm getting about 30k on geekbench and 2300 on cinebenvh. Which is close to my windows score.
  7. Took nullcpupowermanagement.kext out... similar results... i think it was in Surfchinas EFI which i used as a base Ive attached a cinebench too... which looks a bit better... but im getting 2500 on Windows. so still something up
  8. So i haven't made any progress on the power management but i was able to finally get my Alpine ridge thunderbolt card running.... took a clean install of windows and a lot of turning things on in th right way to get it to show up so i could update firmware... but once that happened it worked first time in Sierra... Winn... I now have my UA apollo back.. woo. So back to power management.... Ive Followed Surfchinas over clocking guide (well i added the relevant stuff in my BIOS)... and it didnt seem to make much differnce. Im still hovering around the 20k mark with Geek bench. Ive tried a whol bunch of stuff but it never gets anywhere near my score in windows... which seems about right. Im sure its something stupid im doing or not doing... as this is my first non standard hackintosh ive never had to deal with power management so i dont really know where to look. Ive attached a bunch of stuff including Various tests with different stuff on and off. Any help is very much appreciated.
  9. I couldn't boot installer from USB either so used my MacBook to install a copy on to a clean SSD in a caddy then I used (the beast of which we must not speak) then cloverconfgurator with Surfchinas earlier EFI as a base... just had to change from Amd to nvidia graphics. First boot with nv_disable =1 then use nvidiafixup kext Once web drivers are installed. Will attach a proper file later as I'm just on my phone but here's a drop box link to my booting EFI https://www.dropbox.com/sh/nngfpp27t08jd1j/AAAFaYIFLcGGlAn3BVvQKdNTa?dl=0
  10. Just in my phone here so don't have Intel gadget stuff here but I've sceengrabbed a bunch. I'll post tommorrow. I think there is one of mine in this thread. I have plugin type at 1... Hadn't checked c2, c6, etc.. Will try that tomorrow. Thanks for the help! Really appreciate the time you out in to this
  11. i used the updated pmdrvr.kext first... Got 6 speedsteps and about 18-20k f2f 1600 in cinebench ssdtPRGen got me to 20-22k gb 1400-2000 in cinebench. Ive tried various frequency vectors still nothing getting me in to 30k In Windows i was running about 50-60 degrees in full turbo so I think cooling is ok. In cinebench the cpu freqs are all over the place.. Don't look stable at all. I'm totally new to this and could be missing something obvious but I've been reading tons of stuff and have tried to be pretty scientific with how I've been modifying settings to see where I'm getting gains and losses. Might try a high Sierra build although I only have nvidia gpus so not sure that would work yet.
  12. Still can't get this power management sorted, I've tried a bunch of stuff, was starting to think i had a duff chip but did a Windows install and was hitting 36000 in geekbench multicore with a stock bios profile. Only getting 21000 in sierra. Would the gigabyte UD 4 just not be workings same as the gaming 7\9 etc.?
  13. TBH I have no preference for nvida or AMD just what works.. I'm mostly using the 10 cores for cinema 4d rendering. I havnt got in to GPU rendering too much so I don't need that much GPU horse power other than to power one 4K and one 1080p display which the 780ti seems to handle. If I move to GPU rendering I will look at whatever is the fastest option at the time. TBH I have no preference for noida or AMD just what works.. 14. Thanks! Yeah I have that CPU-S... I've had 8 steps at one point I think with the PMd 2 driver. Bit it didn't do much for the GB score
  15. Awesome thanks... yeah I did use the bios settings from some person on some other site. I will give this a go.
