  1. Not much luck using these instructions on a Dell D830 trackpad. Things install fine, and scrolling is in fact enabled. However, mouse movement is so badly affected that I've had to switch back to the standard driver. With the 2finger driver installed, it is impossible to track smoothly with the trackpad -- the cursor will lurch forward and stall. Even with scrolling turned off, it's still nearly unusable. Playing with the speed scaling didn't seem to change that -- it would track faster when it was moving, but it was still very choppy. Weirdly, my trackpad is being detected as a Synaptics -- only changing settings in the Synaptics section affected anything -- but Windows detects it as an Alps.
