  1. Hi AREOS. I made a lot of test with both version of OSX, with both version of drivers and here is a little summary: ====== Mac OS X 10.9.1 ====== Apple Driver: Internal Screen: nothing VGA: working with full acceleration HDMI: Fix light grey image just like before login screen should appear nVidia Web Driver: Internal Screen: nothing VGA: nothing HDMI: Blinking screen (like it was founding some signal then immediately lost it again and again) ====== Mac OS X 10.9.2 ====== Apple Driver: Internal Screen: Reboot when desktop should start VGA: Reboot when desktop should start HDMI: Reboot when desktop should start nVidia Web Driver: Internal Screen: nothing VGA: nothing HDMI: Blinking screen (like it was founding some signal then immediately lost it again and again) I hope this will help you understand what's going on. Thanks for your help.
  2. Hi. So with 10.9.2, VGA Screen goes black when the desktop is supposed to be launched. I try with both drivers but with the same result. My internal screen never worked, but VGA did until 10.9.2. HDMI just make a light grey screen with 10.9.1 and nothing with 10.9.2 (it's like the setup program before the onset of the welcome message). Normaly the nVidia GTX680M should be supported out of box by OS X as this card is sell with iMac high-end configuration. So I realy supposed that's a detection port problem. If you want me to make some tries just ask. Streight before the desktop startup I can see 2 shorts messages about unsupported ship by nVidia thermal sensors program, but it's very fast and I never find a way to get it in some log message. Maybe there is some clue here. Thanks for your help.
  3. Hi ! I start a new topic from the one from gazzacbr since it's solved (http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/293967-solved-asus-rog-laptops-with-kepler-cards-not-detecting-dp-2-connected-lcd-display/page-8?do=findComment&comment=2008724). I have an Alienware M17X R4 and with 10.9.1 I can have full acceleration on a VGA display but nothing on internal monitor (120Hz connected with display port). With 10.9.2 nothing is working. I put a ioreg export in attached file. I know AREOS find a way with efi string to tell driver the good port to use. If you have any solution, I will take it. Thanks ioreg_10.9.1_VGA.zip
  4. Hi. A little up for Areos. Did you find any solution for me since last week ? Thank you for your help.
  5. Hi. Thanks you for taking some time for us. I make a fresh installation of 10.9.1 and make a save with IO Registry Explorer v2.1. I hope this time it'll be correct. You can find it in attachement. ioreg_10.9.1_VGA.zip
  6. Hi, @AREOS: Sometimes ago, you help me with my Alienware M17XR4 to try to make the screen work. I'm in the same situation now. I have a 120HZ screen and a GTX680M. With 10.9.1 I can boot with a VGA screen attached and get full acceleration on external screen and nothing on internal one. With 10.9.2 nothing work. I try VGA, HDMI and internal without success with both drivers (Apple and Web). I boot up removing all NVDA*.kext (not web) and without nvda_drv=1 in order to get to the desktop and make a ioreg dump. For now DMOS is a bit a mess because it's hard to work on it without screen ^^. I hope you can make magic for me. Thanks a lot. without_nvidia.zip

    Anyone mobile Kepler 6xxM working?

Hi. Some Google research with "unlocked BIOS alienware m17x r4" will make the job. Most of the time, constructor make full BIOS for developping purpose and then lock it with only common option to avoid damage by end user. Some people remove this lock from official BIOS and you have to flash it using dos boot key. But be aware that this kind of BIOS is dangerous if you don't know what you are doing. Moreover, flasing eeprom is always risky as you make brick your computer. Good luck.

    Anyone mobile Kepler 6xxM working?

Hi. I made a lot of test but it hangs with the same results as previous string. I also try the way they talked in the forum you mention but I have the same problem with installer. When I see nVidia driver in the lines of startup, the screen turn black. So something might be specific with my computer. For information, I use an App Store purshased version of Mountain Lion for both installation (10.8.3). Maybe we can try to directly made change on dsdt ? Thanks for your help.

    Anyone mobile Kepler 6xxM working?

Hi ! So I try with this EFI string and my internal screen is still black, the VGA screen turn light grey, and HDMI doesn't have any signal. So not better but it made something. Just in case I'm doing some mistake, I put a screenshot of how I do the injection. Thanks for your help.

    Anyone mobile Kepler 6xxM working?

Hi ! Yes, in my case, I think my 120 Hz screen save me because of the incompatibility with Intel card. I update to 10.8.4 and install nVidia Web driver changing my smbios to MacPro. I can see that kext from web driver are loaded even if display pane doesn't show it. But my internal monitor is still black. Here is a new ioreg export. I hope we will make this work. Thanks for your help. export_10_8_4.zip

    Anyone mobile Kepler 6xxM working?

Hi ! I attached two files. The first one is a complete dump with IOReg and the second a screenshot showing details about my graphics card seen by OS X and my external monitor which is actually working. Thanks a lot. export.zip

    Anyone mobile Kepler 6xxM working?

I'm not at home until tomorow but yes I have a 120Hz screen. I'll try to make IOReg then. On Linux, on Xorg logs, it was cleary said that driver can't find any screen plugged in. Most of the people said that was because of the integrated card. But in my case, the Intel card is not compatible with 120 Hz screens. So the screen is directly plugged to the graphics card. Xorg now report DFP-4 as link to the screen with the new driver.

    Anyone mobile Kepler 6xxM working?

Hi ! I currently have an Alienware M17X R4 with an nVidia GTX680M. I also have the famous black screen on startup but it seems that OS X is still working in background. When I start with a VGA screen plug in, I can see my desktop with full hardware acceleration. With HDMI it hang on a grey screen. Both are not working if i plug them after startup. The interresting part was that I get the same comportement with Linux and the nVidia driver (not nouveau) until the release of the 325.15 version. My screen is connected to dfp-4 internaly and wasn't found at all by the nVidia driver but nouveau. I think your are right. The nvidia in the currently version available on OS X can't get the right infos from the screen. I will be happy to make some test if you have some time to help other people. For example, do you need Xorg log from my current Linux distro ? Thanks
