  1. thorazine74, you're a legend! =))))) Two of your suggenstions worked. These two loads chameleon from my grub2 menu: menuentry "MacOS X, chameleon, multi" { insmod hfsplus set root=(hd0,2) multiboot /boot } menuentry "MacOS X, chameleon" { insmod hfsplus search --file --set=root /boot multiboot /boot } Huge thanks man! Of course I'd like to send big thanks to everybody else that helped out here too. =)) And just as a side note: menuentry "MacOS X, chameleon +1" { set root=(hd0,2) chainloader +1 } menuentry "MacOS X, chameleon +2" { set root=(hd0,2) chainloader +2 } Both ends up at the screen with the: y-MORE-- text. Thanks again! Guess next challange is to boot snow leo directly from GRUB2 then? Will try the tips you have posted here when I have a bit more time at my hands. Cheers!
  2. And could you maybe give an example of how that would look? Been trying with this but can not get it to work. I have saved the MBR from the working USB-stick to /boot/chameleon.mbr and I have added this in grub.config: menuentry "MacOS X, chameleon" { set root=(hd0,2) chainloader (hd0,6)/boot/chameleon.mbr +1 } hd0,2 is the SnowLeo partition and hd0,6 is my Ubuntu-partition. I end up at a black screen with the text: y-MORE--
  3. Hi Rod! Glad to see that I'm not alone with trying to get GRUB2 working... I say trying because I can't for the love of God get it to work. I have a tripple boot system here. First I installed Win7 and after that SnowLeo. Lastly I installed Ubuntu 9.10 that ships with GRUB2 as default. I didn't knew that when I installed it but that was a (un)pleasant surprise. =/ SnowLeo is installed with the help of Contis brilliant myHack. The system is a dual XEON X5472 with geforce 8800GTS. All OSes runs brilliantly but can't get GRUB2 to cooperate. =/ As of today I boot chameleon from USB stick to boot into snowleo. Ubuntu and Win7 works fine from GRUB2. GRUB2 autodetects the snowleo partition and adds it with these settings: menuentry "Mac OS X (on /dev/sda2)" { insmod hfsplus set root=(hd0,2) search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set a0297dea90ce0b44 insmod vbe do_resume=0 if [ /var/vm/sleepimage -nt10 / ]; then if xnu_resume /var/vm/sleepimage; then do_resume=1 fi fi if [ $do_resume == 0 ]; then xnu_uuid a0297dea90ce0b44 uuid if [ -f /Extra/DSDT.aml ]; then acpi -e /Extra/DSDT.aml fi xnu_kernel /mach_kernel boot-uuid=${uuid} rd=*uuid if [ /System/Library/Extensions.mkext -nt /System/Library/Extensions ]$ xnu_mkext /System/Library/Extensions.mkext else xnu_kextdir /System/Library/Extensions fi if [ -f /Extra/Extensions.mkext ]; then xnu_mkext /Extra/Extensions.mkext fi if [ -d /Extra/Extensions ]; then xnu_kextdir /Extra/Extensions fi if [ -f /Extra/devtree.txt ]; then xnu_devtree /Extra/devtree.txt fi if [ -f /Extra/splash.jpg ]; then insmod jpeg xnu_splash /Extra/splash.jpg fi if [ -f /Extra/splash.png ]; then insmod png xnu_splash /Extra/splash.png fi if [ -f /Extra/splash.tga ]; then insmod tga xnu_splash /Extra/splash.tga fi fi } But I can't get it to start with that. I end up with a kernel panic saying: panic(cpu 0 caller 0x2ac8d5): "Incompatible boot args version 1 revision 4\n"0/SourceCaches/xnu/xnu-1456.1.25/osfmk/i386/AT386/nodul_dmp.c:542 There might be some typos in that. I typed of a crappy iPhone picture. =/ I can take another look if it's of any help...? I would really be fine with loading chameleon from GRUB2. I don't neccesarly have to load SnowLeo directly from it. I guess there'll be loads of people screaming for help in a few days when Ubuntu 9.10 is released. But if anyone know how to really get it working I'm open for suggestions. I have tried what's covered in this thread without success, just a nice smorgosbord of kernel panics. =/ Cheers /NEO

    Intel 82566 NIC

Unfortunately it does not work with 82575EB. =( Had hope it would. But seems like there won't be a fix for those nics.
  5. Aaaah... So My OSX beein unable to identify my NIC could in other words be the casue of this? There's no drivers for my Intel 82575EB chip so I'm currenty NIC-less on the OSX side...
  6. Hey folks. Trying to get FCP Studio 2 to work on my hackintosh. My HW is: Dual XEON 5472 @ 3ghz Supermicro X7DWA-N motherboard 8GB 800mhz FB-DIMM (Nvidia) Asus 8800 GTS 512MB What happens is that both FCP and Compressor dies upon launch. can't find anything usefull in the logs. Compressor log: http://pastebin.org/38439 FinalCut log: http://pastebin.org/38441 Motion does start but dies as soon as one enters a menu. I have tested all the different kernels that comes with kalyway (speetstepkernel, kabylkernel, nforcekernel, vanillakernel). Same with all kernels. Is there some other kernel out there that might help here? Oh forgot to say that i've tested it before i applied the 6.03 upgrade, it was the same then.

    Intel 82566 NIC

wow! That's some great work man! =) Do you think that this driver could work for the Intel 82575EB to?
  8. Still no one that have tested with this nic?
  9. Okey boys. I have to be totally honest. I have not tried it that much yet. But before I bang my thick skull against the wall for some hours I thought I ask if any one have gotten the Intel® 82575EB Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet Controller to work in OSX Leo or any other OSX? The motherboard I have is: http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherb...400/X7DWA-N.cfm Seems like it's not possible to modify the AppleIntel8225x kext. I added my 82575EB controller to it. Tested quite a few combos, for example: 0x10A78086 0x10928086 0x10518086 0x10508086 0x10298086 0x10308086&0xfff0ffff 0x12098086 0x12278086 0x12288086 0x12298086 0x24498086 0x24598086 0x245d8086 0x10608086&0xfff0ffff Where 0x10A78086 is my controller. Also tried to add it as 0x10A78086&0xfff0ffff but none of them work. Seems like that specific driver checks the controllers eeprom. So in dmesg i get errors like: i82557eeprom: checksum 0 incorrect Intel82557: couldn't allocate eeprom object i82557eeprom: checksum 0 incorrect Intel82557: couldn't allocate eeprom object [/code] Sad {censored}. =/ Is there some way to compile drivers on OSX from the intel provided source?
