  1. Card with Display Port working?

    Thank you very much
  2. Card with Display Port working?

I'm considering to get the Apple 27" LCD display, however this display only have a single Display Port, I'm using a 9800GTX+ but it doesn't have a Display Port, so I will have to get a card with Display Port to work with this monitor. Is there any NVidia card with Display Port work using EFI string something like that? Thanks.
  3. I have a vanilla installation which everything works great. Using Chameleon RC4 with PC-EFI 10.6, customized DSDT which makes the sound work and also EFI string for video. I also have a Synology NAS which support Time Machine backup, so I have enabled one of the share to be for Time Machine backup, but it doesn't show up in Time Machine preference. But sometimes this volume will show up in the "Shared" section of Finder so Time Machine can use this volume to backup. The backup went smooth and files are created and backup to that volume, but when I reboot the computer, the Time Machine network volume gone. Since my primary backup solution is not Time Machine, I just leave it. Occasionally this drive will shown again in the shared section in Finder, and the Time Machine can use it again. Is there any hint so I could make that volume to be use by Time Machine every time? I have moounted that AFP share but no luck. Any hints will be greatly appreciated, thank you!!
  4. Thanks. But unfortunately I'm still stuck at the same place....
  5. I have a SL installation using retail disc on my EP35 board with NVidia card runs smoothly, but on my other spare PC, which is a HP DC5700/Q963/C2D E4300. I have installed Chameleon RC3 with PC-EFI 10.3, with these in /E/E: Disabler fakesmc NullCPUPowerManagement OpenHaltRestart PlatformUUID On a small partition and the SL disc image on another partition, I can boot into the Chameleon bootloader, and choose the drive to boot, which is the SL disc. I checked in verbose mode an dit always hangs at Hangs at ACPI:System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3) Is there any clue on fixing this issue? Thanks!
  6. Tried this boot image and it works on my EP35-DS3R/Q9300, while you might want to remove the Natit.kext and add your own EFI string if you are using NVidia card. This image works for me to boot into the 10a432 installer and boot to SL 64-bit. While there is still some other issue like iMovie quit when importing AVCHD (I can do it on another SL installation) and not able to boot into 32-bit mode since I need VMWare Fusion. Download the image and restore it to a small partition exclusively for installing and placing bootloader stuffs. And after that I also install Chameleon RC3 on top of it. http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1246771
  7. SL on Intel DP35DP

Put the VoodooHDA in /E/E , make the Extensions.mkext using kext utility, repair partition. See if this could help.
  8. SL on Intel DP35DP

If you are using a spare disk for the snow installation, try re-partition the whole disk as GUID partition then try the install again. I got the same KP but this KP gone after I re-partitioned the disk. Although I'm stuck at another problem -- waiting for boot device...
  9. I got a working Kalyway 10.5.3 which connect to my NAS using either SMB or AFP without any problem for long time. I have installed the latest iDeneb 10.5.7, everything works well, including networking but just the SMB and APF thing not work as expected, it shows a message when I try to connect to the share folder on my NAS: The entered URL must be the correct one as what I entered on my running 10.5.3, but just not working on this shiny new installation which I would like to migrate to. Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  10. Which video card are you current using? The resolution 1280x800 looks like it is on a laptop. First you should try to install the proper driver for the card so you could have proper hardware acceleration for those effect only available if you have QE(Quartz Extreme) support such as the ripple effect when you start a new widget in Dashboard. If your driver is not yet supported, you might try to modify /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist and add the following 2 lines before the </dict> tag: <key>Graphics Mode</key> <string>1280x800x32</string> Not sure it this work but you can try to see if it help.
  11. ALC889A and AD1988b share same device ID?

I have some more experience on the installation of the ALC889a sound device on the Gigabyte P35-DS3R board. I was assumed the sound glitches problem was solved by the default installation of Kalyway 10.5.2. After used for a few days, I have tried to update with the Kalyway's 10.5.3 combo update and kernel update. I followed the readme instruction to install the combo update, don;t restart then install the kernel update. I don't know which kernel to choose during the kernel update so I just choose the one "original from Apple". After that, the sound glitches comes back! Sound from the VLC during video playback glitches and quit after a while. I then try to update the kernel again but this time I choose the "modbin_kernel_9.3" as shown in the attached. After reboot, the sound works perfectly again! I think this might also work with Leo4All as well but I have no time to test now, perhaps I will try to test on that later. The problem seems to be the compatability issue between the sound driver and the kernel.
  12. ALC889a sound glitches

I have tried some of the solution found here such as installing drivers pack for the Gigabyte P35-DS3R board, change the idlehalt parameters but it didn't help. Now the problem have solved by installing Kalyway 10.5.2 and the sound card works perfectly right out of the box...
  13. ALC889a sound glitches

Thanks for the hint, after did some seearch, the parameter should likely to be "idlehalt=0", let me try and see if this will solve me issue tonight. Thanks.
  14. ALC889a sound glitches

I've got the 889a on my Gigabyte DS3R work out of the box with Leo4All v3 install, I'm ok with the 2-ch sound, they work's well on Apple applications such as QT. But the sound will have glitches and sometime stop during playback on applications other than Apple such as VLC player, MPlayer and Realplayer. Is there any workaround for such issue ? The applications are the most update one. Thanks!
