2. Hi everyone, I am really liking ##### 2.0+##### 2.0 install Method. Basically looks something like this: Obtain: Mac OSX Retail DVD (dmg2iso will convert dmg image to ISO that you can burn using Windows -- not sure if chamelon will boot a restored HDD version maybe need to try) ##### 2.0 (burn ISO to CD) Download following files and put on a USB Stick: 10.6.3 Combo Update Realtek (Ethernet) Driver - At bottom at OSX/Other section. NOTE: Apparently these drivers dont support X64??? - Anyone know why? ##### 2.0 Obtain a good DSDT.aml - this is work in progress. To Install it looks like this (off top of my head): 1. Burn ##### 2.0 ISO to DVD and boot from it. 2. Stick OSX DVD into machine and press F5 (it will refresh the menu options) and select OSX Install DVD. 3. Install OSX (GUID partition type etc, disk utility, etc.) 4. Boot using ##### and boot the installed copy. 5. Install 10.6.3 Combo update. Reboot and use ##### to boot again. 6. Install ##### 2.0 select proper options (can anyone give insight on this? it looks like it will have everything would need). Note that ##### will look for "DSDT.aml" on the desktop. It will also install Chamelon etc. Reboot (dont use ##### to boot anymore).... 7. I believe that is all (once again this off top of my head). The problem points: 1. Sleep doesnt work? (Can be fixed through proper/working DSDT.aml?) 2. No ethernet via X64? (No idea how to fix that one) 3. ??? Perhaps someone can post a set of links to the various DSDT.aml avaibable for this board with info on what kind of results they get with each? Thoughts? ~ dpc P.S) Was able to successfully install OSX using the ##### method (didnt get to installing ##### but the ##### works well! Kudos TonyMac)
3. Another EX58A-UD3R Rev 2.0 Build here. Running i7 930, EVGA Nvidia GTX 260 core 216, 6GB RAM etc. Looking to attempt this sucker today/in the morning (working on getting install media). I think we need to systematically establish what is doing what (kexts, DSDT, etc.), Put together a working package, and then make improvements from there. From what I have seen Kakewalk is pretty dead and perhaps we should try another method (I am looking at #####/#####). One thing I think we all can agree is that we need to create one solid DSDT for this board. I believe the only variations we should have would be processor (DSDT for 920, DSDT for 930) unless someone else sees a reason for other variations. Personally i think I will start with establishing what does what exactly (kexts, installer, etc.). Never fully grasped kexts however i think if we can identify what each one does we can get rid of bloat and make it lean and vanilla as possible. Easier said than done i know. Good thread. ~ dpc
4. Snow failed install

Really bad title and description. No idea what hardware, install method, etc etc. Test your RAM and HDD. Test your installation media. The error you are receiving is likely due to the installer checking the package integrity/hash/mD5/CRC and failing. ~ dpc
5. Read through the 4 pages of posts. For anyone having weird lockups please run a hard drive diagnostics (anywhere from 1-2 hours) and run a memtest+86 overnight (or two). Lets assume a hard drive was having issues it could through out random errors and cause the machine to behave sporadically. Same thing with failing RAM. Once you rule out that your hard drive and RAM are good it is easier to locate a root(er) problem. Interesting thread none the less for just some interesting issues. I am kinda starting to hate the 135 pages of posts for certain threads (waaaaaaaaay to much to dig through - maybe switch to wiki or something). Good info through them but many times the issues are resolved in a update or are one off cases. ~ dpc
6. Hi Phorte, Was actually just reading your other thread and want to see if you could clarify exactly which link from the Realtek site you used. This page seems most likely: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloads...p;GetDown=false And the download link I am assuming under the "Other's->Mac" section? Then we use kexthelper to install it? congsang - If I have any issues with audio i will post it but from what i hear it seems to well with the Kakewalk method. thank you, dpc
7. Hi Folks, Putting together a new machine for a friend and went for osx86 friendly components. 8. For anyone experiencing really slow slow SMB speed read this: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?sto...2&lsrc=osxh I have a FreeNAS setup and the SMB performance sucked really bad in OS X (fine in Windows). You will need to create the file he mentions in the link above and paste that piece of code in. Anyone with a little bit more info on the topic feel free to correct me. thanks
9. Thanks for the reply. I am using 10.5.4 retail. I did the EFI String for Video after install but before first boot. Anyways I have downloaded an app called SwitchResX. I used it once, set the right setting, and removed the app (shareware). It now works great. Sleep works great for me btw. Thanks,
10. Hi everyone, Just did a fresh install using the Weaksauces Perfect Boot132 (Retail 10.5.5) method. Went with the HDD method (Q6600, EVGA 8800GT 512mb, EP35-DS3L Bios v4, SATA everything). Everything works except for proper video output. My main display (Maxent mx-42xm11) has resolution support of 1024x768. When OS X attempts to go into GUI the display blanks out and says DVI - No Support. I suspect OSX is throwing out wrong resolution for this display. Now here is the burn. Plugging in a second monitor (just some LCD have handy) allows me to tell the TV to display at 1024x768 and use it as the main screen. Disconnecting the second LCD results in the TV blanking out with error (DVI no support). Right now I have TV plugged in to port 1 of the video card (EVGA 8800GT 512mb). The second LCD is plugged into the second port. I am able to use the display in WinXP/BIOS/preboot (Anything before it hits up OSX GUI). I am able to see the loading of OSX (apple logo on grey). I have tried "Graphics Mode"="1024x768x32@60" with no success. Any ideas? thank you, ~dpc
11. I have just sat down and read through the guide. Regardless of what the guide is I would like to say Thank you for *actually doing it*. Too many scenes are plagued with vaporware. Having someone submit something with some sort of organization makes projects better. As for the guide.. Excellent. There is always room for improvement but for an essentially fan made guide it is one of the gems without a doubt. Congrats for a well put together guide. Two things: Current package has misc files from OS X (.DSstore etc.). Is it possible to remove them? Secondly the guide in a way feels like there is a mac somewhere (that user has) as a safety net. Very small but some vibe is still there. I think it would be an improvement from a windows only user perspective. Regardless great work and respect for the amount of time and effort. ~dpc
12. One last reply before I let this thread die... So its been roughly one month now. Here are some thoughts: Use 10.5.4 JAS (much easier) RAM arrived bad (sent off to RMA with newegg - hope next set works fine). CD drive seemed to act up so I RMAed that as well (just to be sure). Using 2gb (2x1gb) of crucial at the moment. Use CCClone to make diskimage for later reinstalls (keep it close to as to a OSX vanilla install to get the "perfect feel" - so no codecs/apps that are not absolutely needed) OSX runs like a beast on this machine - Super awesome performance. Not a single crash in OSX (even with the bad memory - XP was BSODing occasionally). Everything I have tried thus far works like a tank. XP works awesome on this thing as well. I have held some late night matches of TF2 and C&C3 and AOE2 and I love it. Nothing more to ask for. Definitely recommend this build - Other then the RAM (bound to happen to someone) I have had a great experience thus far. I have an Iphone and I am looking to possibly to purchase macbook (for fun). OSX has been a real treat to work with thus far. Good luck to everyone
13. Using Jas 10.5.4 works perfectly. Wifi, Sleep,Restart, Powerdown. Simply follow weaksauce guide after the 10.5.4 update (install the ACPI kext and chud/powerdown fix). Using efi studio to install video driver. Dont install audio driver (its already there). For Jas install settings I used: Ichx chipset driver SMbios 1066 ALC888 cleanup Have not test lan. Everything seems working properly.
14. Gigabyte EP35-DS3L Rev. 01 Bios F4 Q6600 2.4ghz EVGA 8800GT 512MB 4GB G-Skill RAM (2x2) SATA HDD and DVD ASUS WL-138g V2 (works oob with nothing installed) Using weaksacue guide everything works except for video - I have tried clean installs with EFI stuido, latest NV installer and nothing works. Whenever I install a driver and reboot the system it boots and has a black screen with a cursor. Wait and some icons pop up (you have to "erase" the blackness). Under system profiler it shows 512mb nvidia but core is software and qe is not supported. Resolution is changed however to 1280x1024 (monitor native) I am using Leo4ALLV3 with Ichx chipset, about this mac, SMB1066, and 9.2.0 Sleep Kernel. After that I follow weaksauces guide. I have tried a clean install using Jas 10.5.4 client/server and the graphics card works with EFI studio (click click and it works). Ideas? Thank you.
15. Leo4all Problem. Could this help?

Receiving Same error: Cannont validate Leopard 10.5.2 package. Will burn once more and try kalyway after that.
