  1. NVIDIA G103M

I have a Compaq Presario CQ71-410ED with a G103M. Never mind, I was wrong on the graphics card in my laptop which is an Intel.
  2. Waiting for DSMOS, Lion

Thanks for the FakeSMC hint. Now my Compaq CQ71 boots, be it very slowly... but we'll get to that! ;-)
  3. Hi all, first post! ;-) I got a (free!) Compaq CQ71-410ED with a semi-broken screen (black stripe runs over the middle, deviding it in half). Goal is to get 10.7.5 running on it. Tech specs: Finally found them here: http://nl.hardware.i...ario-cq71-410ed - MB: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) - CPU: dual-core Celeron T3100 @ 1.90Ghz - RAM: 3GB - Ethernet: Realtek RTL8101e - WLAN: Atheros AR9285 - Audio: onboard - Webcam: hp webcam-101 - Graphic card: Intel GMA 4500M (1600x900 under lUbuntu) Stuff used - Mac Mini (my 2006 MacBook Pro didn't work; pre-install restart took me to host Lion, and not to the USB HD) - retail Lion install DMG, extracted from original App store installer - Apple 10.7.5 combo update - 80gb SATA HD in external enclosure Kexts used - VoodooHda: http://www.osx86.net..._installer.html - FakeSMC: http://www.osx86.net..._10.7-10.8.html - Trackpad-Synaptic Gesture pack: http://www.osx86.net...&id=1448&page=2 - Atheros AR9285 fix: http://www.osx86.net...ar9285_fix.html - Realtek drivers: http://www.osx86.net...do=file&id=3048 - VoodooBattery Lion: http://www.osx86.net...do=file&id=1384 - Patched X3100FB kext: : http://www.osx86.net...4_bit_kext.html Progress 1. install 10.7 on the HD, mounted externally in an USB enclosure from your Mac. 2. start up the mac from the external drive and upgrade to 10.7.5 there 3. Install Chameleon bootloader on the target disk, select customize, choose Graphics Enabler=Y 4. copy the kexts to /S/L/E on the target disk 5. install the HD into the Laptop and boot with -v -f -s 6. /sbin/fsck -fy and /sbin/mount -uw / 7. cd to /S/L/E and execute chmod -R 755 and chown -R root:wheel on all new kexts 8. type exit and voila: Lion starts! Boot time is about 50 seconds, and the machine feels FAST! Which is a nice side effect of course. ;-) Uname -a reveals it's the X86-64 version. 9. install VoodooHda. It's an installer package, just do the default install. 10. Install the AppleIntelGMA4500FB2A42x64.kext using the Kext wizard. The first time restarting after the GMA4500 install, the screen turned black. But the machine worked, as I could login blind, start iTunes and play a song. The readme of the patched GMA4500 driver stated that I should put "GraphicsEnabler=Yes" in the com.chameleon.Boot.plist, which Ihad done manually, because Chameleon didn't create one. As I didn't trust Chameleon anymore at that point, I put "GraphicsEnabler=Yes" at the boot prompt, and it worked! 1600x900 resolution. Some of the zippyness of the GUI seems gone, and if I connect an external monitor, now and then the screen moves left to right a few pixels. No problems when no external monitor is connected. Youtube movies didn't work as well in Firefox. I found out that a process Firefox Plugin (Shockwave) was causing the fan to go in overdrive. When disabling that in Activity Monitor, the fan went quiet again. So I disabled it in Firefox, and voila: youtube worked again. I guess Firefox switched to the HTML5 youtube player. Working - WLAN (though the light on the laptop won't go blue when connected) - USB - Trackpad - Keyboard - battery monitor - audio (althought the volume panel in the menu bar does not change the volume, for example iTune's and Garageband's volume settings do) - video (system profiler states it's a GMAX3100 with 144 VRAM, device ID 0x2a42) Not working (yet! ;-) ) - QE/CI. Which means: no Apple Pages, no Apple Numbers, no Apple Keynote - webcam (one entry on the HCL for 10.7.3 states that the CameraController app works sometimes. Not for me though... http://www.osx86.net...pplication.html) (This user says he solved it, but didn't post how. In the category thanks, but no thanks http://www.osx86.net...2hd75b1-b2.html ) - external VGA. When I omit GraphicsEnabler=Yes with the external monitor connected, I get the dark canvas background when the loginscreen is there. The laptop screen does not work then. When I log in, I can see for a second the desktop coming up, then the external screen goes black as well. When I do add GraphicsEnabler=Yes, the external screen stays black, but is detected correctly with the correct screen resolution. Although the screens are both detected with the resolutions they need, I think I might need to edit the EDID... ;-) http://www.insanelym...edid-injection/ Thanks! Thanks all on the forum for posting all your experiences with OS X on pcs. My geekness has limits and I couldn't have done anything without this community. ;-) I'd like to know which kexts are essential in running Lion on laptops, any input is welcome! I will keep this post updated.
  4. Source code from China

Would this code be applicable to WIFI cards as well? I have an Acer Aspire with an acer IPN2220 wifi card and would love to have that work under OS X... and I can imagine there are more that try to get their Acers to work.
