  1. Installing 3G EVDO Card into MacBook Air

@jeffberg Yes, it's called a mobile phone... Most modern mobile phones (especially smartphones) support "tethering" and DUN/PAN (look it up) over Bluetooth (and USB) with the right data plan! Many mobile phones with EVDO (Sprint/Verizon) or HSDPA (AT&T and many other GSM carriers worldwide) and Bluetooth 2.0 (1.x also works but often degrades throughput) like my Nokia N95-3 (which I use with my MacBook Air) work fine for this purpose.

@Listed1st.com I'm wondering why you used electrical tape instead of Kapton tape - the adhesives in electrical tape degrade over time and are sensitive to heat - not the best thing to put inside the MBA. Kapton tape is heat and abrasion resistant - it's also a lot thinner (it's Teflon coated mylar, essentially). Anyway, it's unfortunate about the WiFi and BT - but really, kudos on the mod! I don't have the guts do to something like this to my MBA despite doing some crazy mods myself: http://tnkgrl.wordpress.com/2007/05/07/oqo...l-02-hsdpa-mod/
  3. CPU: SSE2 (Pentium M 1.1 GHz, Centrino 852/855 GM/GME, 1 GB RAM) OS VER: 10.4.1 (deadmoo) PATCHES: maxxuss. 10.4.3 User-land SAFAR: Flash 8 works. DEER PARK (Firefox universal binary): Flash 8 does not work (black hole) Mail, Preview, iTunes, iPhoto, ect... apps work fine! The 10.4.3 User-land installer hung on me after hitting the 100% copied mark... I ended up restarting and repairing permissions and the update worked anyway. I tried the update again and it hung again the same way with an additonal "low disk space warning" dailog (with 31 GB free?). Weird! Xbench before: 28.92 Xbench after: 42.18 Wow Thanks for all the hard work guys.
  4. Intel (R) PRO/Wireless 2200B/2915

Perhaps I can help... I'm a software engineer (20+ years experience). I have a notebook with OSx86 & XP (dual boot) and with the Intel 2200 wireless card (recently replaced with a Broadcom card). I also have several real Macs. I have never used Xcode but I'm sure I can pick it up PM me!
  5. Averatec 1050

Update: I got QE working! My biggest problem right now is that I can't get my machine to wake from sleep - the screen goes black and the keyboard & trackpad stop responding, but the machine is not actually sleeping...
  6. [HowTo] Intel 8xx 1280x800 Full Support

Got the native 1280x768 resolution and QE working on my 852/855 Intel integrated graphics equipped Averatec AV1050 by changing the Device ID in the Info.plist for the AppleIntelIntegratedGraphics.kext and by copying the AppleIntel830.kext folder from the Darwin CD... I also used chmod and chown to fix the permssions, removed the AppleIntel915.kext, Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache, and then rebooted with the -F option. Thanks for the tip on page 5 of this thread!
  7. So I have OS X running on my Averatec 1050 10" subnotebook (Pentium M 1.1 GHz SSE2). The good: - Dual boot XP Pro & OS X - Rosetta support - Graphics OK (I tweaked the Intel 830 .kext file for Intel 852/855 - now works native at 1280x768, no QE, no CI) - Sound OK (Realtek AC'97) - Wired Ethernet OK (Realtek 8139) - Wireless Ethernet OK (I replaced the Intel 2200 MiniPCI with a Broadcom 4306 MiniPCI) The bad: - No FireWire (O2Micro) - No PCCard (O2Micro) - No wake from sleep Any suggestions on how to fix "the bad"? I've looked all over the forums for FireWire, PCCard advice... I'd try to add the device/vendor IDs to some .kext files, but I don't know which .kext files to edit! What about wake from sleep solutions? Thanks
