    Hard drive device names changing?

I'm assuming it can't be THAT uncommon given that OS X deals with it well. It's just VMware Fusion that's having issues. I wonder if it's related to my drives being marked "External" in Disk Utility? Does anyone know how to make them internal? I fixed the External problem by changing my IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext from: <key>Physical Interconnect</key> <string>SATA</string> <key>Physical Interconnect Location</key> <string>Internal/External</string> to <key>Physical Interconnect</key> <string>SATA</string> <key>Physical Interconnect Location</key> <string>Internal</string> Only time will tell if this fixes the device name changing problem.

    Hard drive device names changing?

Has anyone else seen this before?
  3. It was the JMicron controller. I disabled it in my BIOS and now everything works perfectly with the full 8GB.
  4. Has anyone else noticed the hard drive device names changing between reboots? My main drive seems to go from /dev/disk0 to /dev/disk2 to /dev/disk1 whenever I reboot. I wouldn't have noticed it had VMware Fusion not used it to set up the Boot Camp VM. It forces me to recreate the VM when it changes. Any ideas how to make it stop changing? Thanks.
  5. Do you have 5.1 working? I tried your DSL modifications and kexts but I end up with one output for each channel. So, I have something in Sound Preferences called "Line Out" which appears to be my front 2 speakers which are plugged into green, and something called "Internal Speakers" which appears to be my back 2 speakers plugged into black. They're both analog. I can switch between them and hear it go from front-only to back-only. Any idea how make both of them into one output? Thanks.
  6. It's vanilla 10.0.0. I did some more research and it sounds like it might be related to the JMicron IDE controller on my board. I'm going to try disabling it when I get home, if possible.
  7. I'm having a problem that seems to be related to the amount of RAM I have. If I boot with 8GB installed and no boot options, I get this: /dev/diskXsY: Can't initialize disk cache This is followed by a failed attempt to fun fsck. It goes downhill from there. If I boot with maxmem=4096, everything works fine. Has anyone seen this before? The motherboard is a ga-ep45-ud3l. Oh, I'm also using the 32-bit kernel and extensions, if it matters. (VMware Fusion is making me)
  8. Weird. This fixed it for me. What's the bug this is a workaround for? I have 8GBs of RAM. Is that too much? :-)

ACPI (DSDT) Patcher for BIOS and AML

Does anyone have a DSDT for the P5W DH Deluxe? Ideally I'd like sound (it has an ALC883 built-in) and video (I'm using a 7950 GT 512MB) working, but I'll take anything to start. It doesn't matter which BIOS version it's based on ... I'll flash whatever it is. Here's 2801 for reference: http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket...Deluxe-2801.zip Thanks for your help!
