1. Hey Fellas. Good info so far! I was able to get further with this method than any other. ###### just flashes the apple boot screen for a split second and reboots on me. Here's my question. As you can see in my signature, I have the GA-Z77X-UD5H. I get hung up at step 5 in the guide when I'm using my MSi R6850 card, it goes white screen on me right when the "Choose Languages" section should appear. I found a workaround by replacing the 6850 with a Gigabyte GT 520 card. I now see the install screen. I get through installation fine. I get through step 7 fine with finalizing the volume. Where I get stuck at next is with the bootup off of the main drive with the install drive disconnected. The last few lines on the screen when it hangs are crying about WARNING: IOPlatformPluginUtil : getCPUIDInfo: this is an unknown CPU model 0x3a --power management may be incomplete or unsupported. com.apple.launchd com.apple.mrt 38 stopping job... DSMOS has arrived [iOBluetoothHCIController][start] -- completed then it just hangs right there. So I found a workaround to that by placing the 6850 video card back in. I was able to boot this way. Once I was in I was able to install network and realtek audio from the latest ###### version. My question is, why do I have to swap out the cards in order to get to the install screen? Should I be able to use the 6850 (which is native I think) to do all this? Thanks much! Drew

post iatkos L2 monitor dimming

bump, anyone?
3. Hello, I have a successful installation on an Asus G71Gx Laptop using iatkos L2 which I had to install to a removed hard drive and then place back in. Works great! Only issue I'm having is with the monitor dimming when I unplug the power adapter. Up until the time I unplug the adapter I can use the Fn F5 to Dim and the Fn F6 to brighten. After I unplug the adapter, the screen takes a significant dimming and the shortcut keys no longer work. Even if I replug the power adapter in, the brightness doesn't come back and I still don't have control of the Fn shortcuts. What I've tried... Since this also dims slightly when I'm in the Windows side but don't lose control of the Fn shortcuts, I did the following... I've tried booting into the windows partition and making sure all the power settings were as high as possible. Went through advanced settings, everything is 100% on battery and on adapter. I've tried looking in the BIOS for an option not to DIM when off power. Can't find an option in the BIOS, seems pretty limited. I've tried assigning shortcut keys in Lion to other keys to see if I could regain control. Any other ideas? Thanks!
4. thanks for the reply. it shows under the "Video Card" display two lines that say "display" with the type being GPU and the Bus being PCIe. Under "Display" section: it shows NVIDIA, but says under kernel extensions that no kext loaded. When I open up front row, all is black. which card do you have?
5. Hi Everyone, I have a working hackintosh with a Geforce 8800 card but recently upgraded to the EVGA GTS 450 1GB DDR5 RAM Fermi card. Now I'm trying to get my Machine to work with it properly. I've tried the #####-GE. My procedure was... I booted from the CD and then selected my 10.6.3 Snow Leopard Installation image. I did the -x and pressed enter. Crashes. I was able to perform a clean install with iatkos s3 v2 but the video card doesn't work. I updated to 10.6.5, installed Chameleon V2 RC5. Installed the tonymacx86 NVIDIA Update and restarted. It boots into OSX just fine without safe mode, but I don't think it's finding my card properly. I have two monitors hooked up. It sees only one, and when I start Front Row to see if Qe is enabled, it's just a black screen. I can't change the resolution. With my old installation I could change all this and it was working ok so I'm pretty sure it's not functioning right yet. My system specs are below, following that is my com.apple.boot.plist file from my "Extra" folder, following that is my com/apple/boot/plist file from my Library/Preferences/System Configuration folder. I don't know what the difference is between the two, I'm not an expert on this stuff, but there are definitely differences in the entries therein. Following these entries is a list of kext installed in my Extra/Extensions folder. I'd be so grateful if anyone could tell me what I'm doing wrong, or suggest a workaround. I can reinstall as many times as I need to. 6. Hello good sirs and madams, I have an interesting problem. I can install iAtkos S3 v2 on my Asus G71GX without any problems. It boots up just fine. I have a firewire audio device that is having trouble being recognized however but I know that it can be recognized and here's how. I've installed iAtkos a few times with different driver configurations in order to try to sort out a couple bugs I was having and on one of those installations the firewire soundcard was working perfectly. The soundcard is a Steinberg MR816x. This installation would crash if I didn't boot with the -x-v at startup, but when I did, SL would boot properly and my soundcard worked. I haven't been able to reproduce the install that I had. Are there certain drivers ya'll would recommend I install off the iAtkos install disk under "customize" that might help? Also, is there a way to install these drivers after the installation has completed without having to reinstall the whole OS (which takes about an hour each time) That's getting old. The firewire device is a Ricoh RSC832 IEEE 1394 Controller Below is a picture of my hardware profile. Also, if anyone knows how to get an intel Wifi 5300 working that would be awesome too Thanks so much for taking the time. Cam
7. any chance that the Asus G71gx might be supported at some point?

Problem installing in VMware Workstation

bump, anyone?
10. Hi everyone, I've decided to try to do an install on the following system. Asus P5B Deluxe 4GB Patriot DDR2 800 Extreme Performance E6600 Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 I'm using VMware Workstation ACE Edition version 6.0.2 I have download several versions of OSX Tiger including the following versions. MacOSX_10.4.4DVDPATCHED_Myz MacOSx 10.4.3 8F1111A Patched Jas v4.2b I tell the VMware disc to boot from these images. I've also tried booting them from a virtual disc with Power ISO or Daemon Tools and I keep getting the following message. *** Virtual machine kernel stack fault (hardware reset) *** The virtual machine just suffered a stack fault in kernel mode. On a real computer, this would amount to a reset of the processor. It can be caused by an incorrect configuration of the virtual machine, a bug in the operating system, or a problem in the VMware Workstation software. Press OK to reboot virtual machine or Cancel to shut it down. I can even see the apple logo pop up on the screen behind this error message but can't get past it! Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I tried to search for it but couldn't find any info. If this is a common problem and I'm just not looking in the right area, please throw me a link! Thank you very much! Cam
