  1. 10.6.2 update success EP45-UD3P

I am having a similar problem. I had a 10.6.1 retail install using the lifehacker usb flash method. Not everything worked (time machine, bonjour did not work) but it was a workable system. I accidently updated to 10.6.2 the other day and now its giving me kernel panic fits. I tried using the terminal method in this thread of replacing the 10.6.2 kernel with the one from my usb bootloader and am still getting panics (version mis-match between Kernel and CPU). I am hoping since technically the hard disk is a retail install, this will be "work aroundable." Can someone please help! Thanks Ben Now I have it loading to my desktop before the screen gets greyed out and it tells me to reset my system. maybe closer? I don't know....
  2. Hi Everyone, So I am searching the boards for help. My computer has been out of commission for a while and it has me paralyzed. The short of it, I have been using EFI-X to boot my system (with a retail leopard install + a few minor patches) for about 8 months. Prior to that, I was using Kalyway's OS install, but eventually wanted something easier, so I bought an EFI-X. A month ago the EFI-X died, fried my mobo, and I have been without a working system since. ASUS repaired my mobo, but now I can not get my system to boot. I really really don't want to have to do a fresh install, as I don't have a very recent backup. Is there any way to create some kind of USB so that I can boot the leopard install that is there? PLEASE. Any advice would be MUCH MUCH appreciated. Thanks. Ben
  3. Hi all, I just moved my stereo system in my room with my computer and am trying to use the SPDIF out to get digital audio from my system. I am running an efi-x system, 10.5.7, with the asus p5w dh deluxe mobo. I have always used the taruga patch to get analog audio working just fine. Now I plugged in the coax digital, selected "built in digital audio" in system prefs, and the sound works beautifully. However I have no output controls. In system prefs it says "the selected device has no output controls." Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks! Ben
  4. thanks for the replies guys...i have spent the day restoring my computer to 10.5.2 and getting everything working again. I think I might wait a little longer until I need the 10.5.3 to upgrade, but your suggestions will come in handy then.
  5. I'm having a similar problem...thought the update went fine but then aperture wouldn't open (said my graphics card wasn't compatible) and iPhoto isn't working properly. Any chance someone would be kind enough to explain how to make the nvidia card work again? I tried -v -x at startup to no avail. Help will be so much appreciated.
