  1. GTX 285 Black Screen

I've searched the forum but I haven't noticed that anybody have issue like this. Supermicro X8DAE motherboard Dual Xeon (8 cores, 16 threads) NVIDIA Geforce GTX 285, 2GB VRAM (DVi, HDMI, VGA) MacPro 5.1 Smbios definition I have installed Yosemite W/O any major issues but than came to a problem that I can not solve. What ever I do, if I boot normally, I get black screen/s. And I'm not talking about "DVI Signal Not Found" - I get black screen with cursor over it. I can move the cursor but that's it. (this happens after boot sequence, before login screen should come up) I can boot to Desktop with safe boot (-x) or with nv_disable=1, so I guess this is GPU issue What I have tried by now: - all possible different boot loaders (Chameleon, Clover) - default OS X driver and NVIDIA web driver (nvda_drv=1) - combination of different boot flags Does anybody have any idea what else could I try? Thank you in advance.
  2. Disk does not appears (Dell optiplex 755)

For some users 10.8.5 is OK and some started to have issues with that version. Probably for one group it could be solved with DSDT (IRQs, IDs, whatever), and those who had to use modified IOPCIFamily.kext before will need updated version that works with AppleACPIPlatform.kext from 10.9.0. Problem is that both fixes are not really easy (as far as I know), and people with deeper knowledge would have to help with this issue. On the other hand there are not many motherboards affected. Most of the Gigabyte and Asus models are OK, and that's probably what more than 85% of people using here (I myself have 5 Gigabyte hacks and one Supermicro with this problem). So, I'm not very optimistic that this will be solved soon (if ever). I have started first thread about this problem almost 6 months ago http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290371-no-hard-drives/?do=findComment&comment=1930336 and nothing really changed since than.
  3. Disk does not appears (Dell optiplex 755)

There are some motherboards that need modified IOPCIFamily.kext in order to work properly (http://netkas.org/?p=1072). Together with that kext you need matching AppleACPIPlatform.kext, or you'll get kernel panic. Since 10.8.5 and Mavericks, because of changes Apple have made, when you replace two kexts mentioned above - appleahciport.kext won't work and because of that there is no available HDDs. In one of earlier threads I gave temporary solution (replacing new kexts with IOPCIFamily.kext, AppleACPIPlatform.kext and appleahciport.kext from 10.8.4), but that's just workaround until somebody update modified IOPCIFamily.kext in order to work with 10.8.5 and 10.9.0. I would like if I could do that, but it is above my knowledge. Replacing IOPCIFamily.kext is not needed for most used Gigabyte boards, but for some more "exotic" MBs like my Dual Xeon Supermicro X8DAE or some Dell models it is the only solution.
  4. 10.8.5 out

Just for the record, Gigabyte boards X58A_UD3R Z77X-UP5TH Z77X-UP4TX With NVIDIA GTX570 and GTX 285 are fine after 10.8.5 update. No rollbacks and other s%&^
  5. 10.8.5 out

Exactly, and it would be great if some skilled dev could help updating Netkas IOPCIFamily.kext (http://netkas.org/?p=1072) to work with 10.8.5 and Mavericks . I was trying to figure it out, but it is above my knowledge.
  6. 10.8.5 out

I've built at least 30 hackintoshes, currently using 5 different, and never did a rollback before I started building one with dual Xeon on Supermicro board. I don't like to do rollback either but obviously for some motherboards that is the only solution ATM (I'm talking about AppleACPIPlatform.kext & IOPCIFamily.kext). Realistically there are not many people that can solve issues properly ( w/o rollback), and we can not expect that to happen - especially for a bit "exotic" configurations. Of course most of the rollbacks mentioned in this thread won't be necessary soon, but at least we now know what are possible problems and what should be solved.
  7. 10.8.5 out

Some users that are replacing AppleACPIPlatform.kext & IOPCIFamily.kext in order to have working hack, will have problem booting after 10.8.5 update (still waiting for root device). Situation is similar to this one I explained in Mavericks thread http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/290371-no-hard-drives/ If you boot in verbose mode you'll see that problem comes from AppleAHCIPort.kext (failed to load), so you'll have to roll back that kext too. Strange, it should work. Have you installed kexts with Kexthelper (S/L/E)? What does it say in verbose mode (com.apple.driver.AHCIPort has failed to load ... or something)? Do you see the drives in safe mode?
  9. No Hard Drives

Try using this combination of kexts (attached). kexts.zip
  10. No Hard Drives

Update: I have tried removing IRQs from DSDT as in The KiNG's post mentioned above, but the problem is still there. However I have managed to fix "missing HDDs" issue by using AppleAHCIPort.kext from 10.8.4. It is now loading properly and all HDDs are mounted (Mavericks DP2). Of course this is not perfect solution and we'll need updated IOPCIFamily.kext that will work properly with Mavericks (I see that a lot of people are using IOPCIFamily.kext from Netkas in their ML installations).
  11. No Hard Drives

There was two DSDTs in the archive (DSDT and DSDT 2), so I have made IOregs for both (IOREG and IOREG2). Thank you very much for your time! ioregs.zip
  12. No Hard Drives

I was sure that's raw DSDT extracted on Windows couple months ago when motherboard arrived (I usually do that first on new MB). Anyway I have booted clean MountainLion and extracted new DSDT. NEWdsdt.zip
  13. No Hard Drives

Here is unmodified DSDT and IOreg. I have updated to DP2 and the problem is still the same. Thank you @Rampage Dev DSDT_ioreg.zip
  14. No Hard Drives

Yes, AHCI is set in BIOS but after replacing AppleACPIPlatform and IOPCIFamily kexts, com.apple.driver.AHCIPort won't load. Safe boot with original kexts work fine and all drives are there. It will even boot regularly but it is painfully slow and unusable (I had same issue after ML) I suppose that something has to be modified in added kexts, in order to load AHCIPort driver. I suppose that issue can be fixed in DSDT but I have already went through drill with ML .... removing hardware, turning off one CPU, removing HDDs, changing GPUs, multiple BIOS variations - always the same result (extremely slow performance, but W/O crash). At the end only old AppleACPIPlatform and IOPCIFamily kexts (from Netkas) solved the problem. I have also tried checking IRQ conflicts, and although I know how to fix some things with DSDT (CPU alias, add GPU, orange icon fix, RTC fix, etc.), it is still above my knowledge after all this years Anyway I will see how to remove IRQs because I haven't tried that yet. Thank you for your help guys.
  15. No Hard Drives

No, drives are there before I replace two kexts. After that they are gone. I've Googled the issue and I found that couple of guys have the same problem, so this is not isolated case.
