  1. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

INPUT IS WORKING!! Thanks very much, Jimmy.
  2. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Serious enough to own a cherry burst LP and a couple other 6 strings but not enough to record/release anything. Had no problems w/10.5.6. Anyone have any ideas?
  3. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Jimmy, still no luck with input on my P5K SE/EPU. I did a completely clean install and followed the updated guide. Is anyone else having this issue or am I missing something simple? When I use Garageband I can hear the selected effects but nothing comes out except noise. Tried all 3 inputs but no luck....
  4. [GUIDE] Leopard on an XPS 1330/1530

Thanks Ace, much appreciated. Turns out I missed a crucial step that is just so silly I'm embarrassed to admit it...........I forgot to install the kexts from the boot 132 iso. Dumb. Here's a quick rundown of my complete DB install: XPS m1530 -modded retail disk to read MBR -use disk utility to create 2 partitions (1ex journaled, one fat32) -install 10.5.6 retail -use system update and get all system updates -install chameleon and follow the excellent guide on how to do it correctly (1st pg) -install kexts from boot132 iso -reboot -insert other OS disk, boot from it. -install into fat32 partition -when install is done, use gparted live cd to change boot flag to OSX -DONE! thx to all for your help and to wingrunr for a great tut!!

I believe so. I followed the instructions on the first page. Can boot from the cd with no problem.
  6. [GUIDE] Leopard on an XPS 1330/1530

Guy's I'm having a major bootloader issue. It hangs at the gray screen and loops. My problem might lie in the fact that I did a retail install of 10.5.6 and updated straight to 10.5.8 via system update? I followed the bootloader instructions on the first page, and can see the appropriate text as well as the option to boot into W7, but when I choose Mac it just hangs. have the XPS M1530 nVidia 8600 card. Here's the crash log: "Process: blued [166] Path: /usr/sbin/blued Identifier: blued Version: ??? (???) Code Type: X86 (Native) Parent Process: launchd [1] Date/Time: 2009-08-08 20:22:25.954 -0600 OS Version: Mac OS X 10.5.8 (9L30) Report Version: 6 Anonymous UUID: 6A7F9DD0-B93F-4ED4-A2ED-54FC7AEF8E51 Exception Type: EXC_BREAKPOINT (SIGTRAP) Exception Codes: 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000000 Crashed Thread: 0 Application Specific Information: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: attempt to insert nil value (key: 0782 - Machine Model)' Thread 0 Crashed: 0 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x92102e94 ___TERMINATING_DUE_TO_UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION___ + 4 1 libobjc.A.dylib 0x90956e3b objc_exception_throw + 40 2 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x92102dcb +[NSException raise:format:arguments:] + 155 3 com.apple.CoreFoundation 0x92102e0a +[NSException raise:format:] + 58" There's quite a bit more but hope this is adequate. Any thoughts would be great.
  7. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Roger Jimmy. I'm sorry Jimmy, but I am at a loss here. I can still hear the guitar through the speakers and can control the volume with the voodoo prefpane but still can't get garageband or the system itself to acknowledge it? Help?
  8. P5K-SE - Retail Leopard Instalation

Hey guys I've got the silliest problem here. I've read and read til my eyes hurt and can't find the prob which likely means its in front of my face. Everything is working 100% except Garageband. I can plug the ole' Les Paul into any input jac, front mic, rear, line etc, and through the Voodoo HDA prefpane I can manipulate it and get sound and volume control but it doesn't show up in the sound system settings or midi. And, Garageband doesn't detect it. What the heck am I missing ??
  9. 10.5.7 Released

Update worked fine on my XPS 1530 retail install, just had to reinstall audio kexts. Also noticed ethernet is working now (might have been working earlier and just didn't notice)

  11. [GUIDE] Leopard on an XPS 1330/1530

I can't speak to the stability comparison but the retail version is much faster and way easier to update. It's not difficult at all to edit the .mpkg for MBR recognition. Just get your hands on a retail version and follow this excellent tutorial : http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=116505&hl=
  12. [GUIDE] Leopard on an XPS 1330/1530

I am currently dual booting Windows 7 and Retail 10.5.6. What I did was (following a guide) edit the Mac install image to recognize MBR instead of GUID. Then Use Disk Utility to create 2 Partitions (the one for mac extended journaled and the one for Windows fat32). Install mac as usual then install windows on the second (fat32) drive. Windows needs to format it but it works after it has done that. After successfully installing both OS's I installed the EFI bootloader from OSX86 UNIVERSAL INSTALLER (i couldn't get chameleon to work for me). I am now dual booting and everything is great!
  13. Excellent tutorial. I am now dual booting W7 and retail 10.5.6 on my XPS 1530 's 300 gig drive. Many thanks!
  14. Dell XPS 1530 Kalyway guide

  15. ATI 9550 / X1050 AGP QE

I really hate having to post this but I have done so much reading and keeping getting confused. I have an Asus p5p800 mobo and and ATI 9550 / x1050 agp video card. Everything is working great, stable LAN, Sound etc, I just can't get QE enabled and have tried many things. IS there something I'm missing? Any help at all wld be greatly appreciated. If the card itself will not work, I'll gladly take recommendations. Thanks.
