    Fly Paper or Plastic?
  2. Take One, Leave One

Halo 3 If only for the 12 year olds on XBox live at 2:00am ---------------------------------------------- Canon or Nikon
  3. 8-core baby..

Great... Now I need a change of underwear. Next time, warn me when I need the plastic pair! That is sweet though!
  4. What to buy...

Well, when you put it that way you have a very good argument. I'm too old to rely on my parents anymore Not to mention I have a Son who relies on me! God help the poor kid. LOL!
  5. What to buy...

Congrats!! Now you're walking down a slippery slope. If you bank on what you might make what happens if you don't make as much as you thought you would? If you don't have the money in hand I wouldn't suggest spending it beforehand. Once again, just my $0.02 Djork
  6. What to buy...

If you have the money go with the 2.4 MacBook Pro. With your discount you'll pay less than I did when I got mine from the CompUSA closeout. Portability isn't an issue for me with the 15", and I've converted mine so that I can use it for work (I'm a Network Administrator) all day everyday. And you really do get what you pay for. I know I'm not that much help, but I'm pulling for you to get the MBP. Just my $0.02 Djork
  7. Welcome to the support group. We're here if you need us (except for loans on new Apple Hardware). I've been a financially oppressed Mac Lover for a long time. Then I cashed out a 401(k) for a move (Thank god I did, it would have been gone by now with the market taking a dive) and had enough for my MacBook Pro 15". Now, as you can see from my sig, I've added a few more. Working on converting my desktop and my wife's old laptop to Leopard. We'll see how that goes.
  8. Another "Other" here. Always been into Apple's as I started on a non-functioning ][ in elementary school and managed to get it running. From then on I got pulled out of class to fix them. Junior High was spent programming on Lego-Logo (Tell me someone else remembers that). High School was spent working on Video Editing and Graphical Arts. Worked on the Senior Video from Freshman year up till I dropped out. Between High School and now was working at menial jobs until I landed a good gig in IT and could afford a real Mac. Now I have a menagerie. Since I now own a few True Macs I'm looking for another challenge. Hence OSx86 on my desktop. Got tired of playing FPS's so I might as well do something with it.
  9. Install OSx86 10.4 on new Mac Pro 8-core?

Ah. Didn't know that! Learn something new everyday. I don't know the ramifications of just mirroring the drive, but then again it may be worth a shot. Good luck to you!
  10. Worst Thing about Macs

Uh...What? Coach, that's ridiculus... I bought a Macbook Pro in December (Before Cash-Mas) because the price was lower than that of the Desktop 'I' wanted. Okay, the the desktop 'I' want is a little more than most...But isn't that why I'm on a OSx86 board now? Oh...And...Um...Steve Jobs for King!...Yeah Right! Bring Back WOZ!
  11. Install OSx86 10.4 on new Mac Pro 8-core?

Can't you just buy a copy of 10.4? I'm sure there is a company out there that still has it for sale. Not to mention you don't have to worry about the legality of downloading a version. And I'm in the same (sort of) boat. I want my Son (18 months old) to play Number Munchers (abandonware) and Oregon Trail like I did when I was a child. So I bought him a PowerMac G3 at Value Village. I'm not saying I'm better, but I would look into the legal realm before looking at other options. Djork
