I had the same problem. What i did was to change my HDD. (i had a backup one) and yes....SATA PATA and SATA II are all compatible from what i know...
-
Look into Logitech. they are compatible and offer support and drivers for Mac OSX. Not very expensive and quality/price ratio is quite good.
-
I am also waiting for an answer on that. If i wanted only 2 of my 6 speakers to work, i would use my onboard sound... but untill now no help. Might get lucky with a wireless sound card...but for that, I need some other parts on my computer... like...let's say...a witeless card lol I don't want to buy a soundcard that will not work so, therefor i am still in testing and waiting mode.

Logitech Elite is the one i use. (along with Logitech MX310 mouse but that is another story) Works great, many controls, many shortcuts, and 100% compatible with OSX
-
I have MX310 (old school ) and works just right. (soon to be replaced with a Razer). Just imagine how cool it would be if these mice had 4way scrolling capabilities...

I'm from Romania, too, and i agree with you on some level. In Romania, the piracy level is quite high. Some afford to buy software (usually businesses because they can be fined), some don't want to buy software, if they can spend that money on something more practical...non essential stuff like...food, clothing, paying the bills and stuff like that... I earn as much as you and if i had to pay for all the software I use or used throughout the time, I should work for no money for about 1 year, at least.... But, stupid me, I chose to use cracked software and buy myself some parts for my PC... As for apples, in Europe, the price for any Apple product is calculated like this: in the States... MacBook Pro ---> $2000 more or less... in Europe (Romania for example)---> take the $ sign and convert it into Euro sign, and after that add VAT tax (19% of the product value) now the MacBook pro costs 2380 Euro (that is $3673)..... affordable...isn't it? ($1=0.647 Euro)

Speech recognition works just great. I know it is an old feature, but now it works better than before. You can create your own commands with a little apple scripting, which is more than cool and very simple. Key Codes are found on that link (click on "Key Codes" ). and the coding is as simple as tell application "Safari" to keystroke "t" using {command down} This makes a new tab in safari...save it with the name you want to access it and than tell the computer that exact name, and it will execute it. see how simple? and to change it for Firefox, just replace the name of the application I am in the middle of coding every command i can think of...Made so far voice command for Shut down, accept, cancel, volume up, volume down, max volume, mute, next, back....and so on...simple stuff so far...(I am new at apple scripting, so it will take a while to get to the hard stuff )

It does work. I have Kalyway 10.5.1 and MacLovin pack And yesterday night I Updated to 10.5.2 (Kalyway ComboUpdate 10.5.2) and it works perfectly.

I just told you what worked for me... you can do what i did, or what you did... does not matter... installed it on MBR because on the same HDD i have another partition with XP on it... Vanilla is another thing i did not install... and no...do not install NATIT_ATIcards video drivers, if you want to install MacLovin's pack. I have installed OSX 15 time in the past 2 weeks... never with the same options twice....just to see wather this is better than that.... and so on... I am not saing that I am right and you are wrong... something that works on your computer might not work for me...and the other way around. LAN should work out of the box. In the Kalyway DVD 10.5.1 you have the option to install WiFi drivers...

And did you select MBR? i know I had this problem. It wouldn't work with GUID, but worked perfectly with MBR. Btw: you do know that Kalyway is made for intel PC's...yes? here is the installation guide for intel > http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=77069 here is the installation guide for AMD > http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...st&p=362834

another thing: in the installation, do not select any drivers for your card... this way the graphics card installation will be much easier.
-
I had the same problem as you. what did the trick for me was a fresh install (kalyway version in my case but they say it works with ToH also) and MacLovin's pack fr ATI Graphics cards Pack. Here is the link to his post. Good luck http://forum.osx86scene.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2312

0x71C1 - 0x71C7 ATi X1650 Pro fix (QE/CI/Rotation Enabled)
Love_@_1st_Mac replied to Denicio's topic in ATi
I made my graphics card ASUS ATI Radeon EAX1650PRO 256DDR3 to work with MacOSX86 KalyWay version (QE/CI/Rotation enabled) Fresh installation + MacLovin's driver pack. that's all it took now works almost perfectly... unfortunately, my sound card does not seem to work. and as I discovered, the combination: Graphics + Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital freezes my computer...don't ask me why....your guess is as good as mine... cause i have none... For now, i am quite happy with my MacX86...but still needs improvements.
