  1. specs of my system are in sig. I added a pci sound card (sb live! card) to get sound in 10.6.5. Although I get sound now, when I run win 7 through vmware 3.1, an osx error pops up "cannot connect virtual device sound because no corresponding device is available on the host" any time I try to play a sound. I can ignore this error though. The weird thins is that after I acknowledge the error, the sound plays properly. second variation of problem is that I swapped the sb live! card with an sb audigy2. Sound is 10.6.5 works fine still, no problems. when I try to play any media files in win 7, no error comes up now, but there is no sound at all. When I do any sound tests, it detects the vmware sound output device, and I see the levels in sound manager going up and down during playback, but no sound from speakers. Go back to OSX, and I get sound with no problem. I googled, and a few of the workarounds I tried did not help (because they were not specially for mac os running vmware, mostly other *nix). Anyone else with this problem? thanks so much for any help
  2. hi, yes, I have tried that kext and installed using kexthelper. Thats what generated the information I included in my post. It seems several people in this thread had the same issue as me where they just get AudioID 12 after installing the kext, and from what I read, no one seems to have a workaround. for now, I was able to install an old creative labs sb live pci card in, using kxaudiodriver-1.3b0 to get audio going, but would really like to get the onboard audio working if possible. Any other ideas I can try?
  3. hey all, could really use some help. I did my nl install using this guide p5q install, and everything works but sleep and of course, my sound. After I installed, I successfully updated to 10.6.5. Then I tried to get sound working but have had no luck. I have read this entire thread, and tried every kext combination, but I cannot get any sound to work. The closest I get is for Intel high Definition audio with ID:12 to be listed, which was mentioned several times in this thread, but never with a working solution. Please see the attachments below. Im at a loss unless sound is just not compatible with 10.6.5 and my pq5-em mobo. Rest of my specs are in signature. I saw a few people posted their dsdt.aml file (just rename from txt to aml), so I attached that as well. If someone can help, it would really be appreciated. thanks all! dsdt.txt
  4. greetings, I used this guide and was successfully able to install and boot into SL 10.6. I successfully installled upates to 10.6.5 through software update. The only kexts I have in were the ones mentioned in the guide instructions. Video card works perfect, nic, and time machine work perfectly. My two main issues are sleep not working, the screen goes blank, but the system fan stays on, and never truly goes to sleep, and when I hit mouse/keyboard/power button, it never wakes up. I have to do a cold boot. I have enabled S3 in the bios. I installed sleepenabler.kext after updating to 10.6.5, but sleep still does not work. Other issue is that I have no sound (onboard sound). I tried both ALC1200 (106 and 1062) kexts from the link in the guide but neither works. I the tried the older 10.6.2 kext and that got me Intel High definition audio listed in the system profiler, but it just says AudioID 12, no other hardware information or addresses. when I check system prefs/sound, there are no output options. Not sure where to go from here. can someone help me out with this? My exact system specs are in signature. Thanks again for the great guide and support!!
  5. Intel Wireless Drivers [OSx86]

I just installed the PROSet/Wireless 3945, 4965, 5150, 5350, 6x00, 6x50, 1000 OS X 10.5 SVN latest and I get the same thing. When finishing the installation, I am prompted to restart, and thats when I first get the error. I manually power down, boot, and get the same error again. I am using ipc 10.5.6 clean install on a thinkpad t60 with 3935abg card.
  6. [HOW TO] GFX-EFI Tutorial for NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT 512MB (G92)

thank you very much for posting this. I did a clean install with kaly 10.5.2 dvd, and only got 1024x768 resolution with no core or quartz options, and unknown video card. Followed these instructions to a T and now everything 100% working with PNY 8800GT 512mb. Awesome step by step instructions!
