Menno got a reaction from surfinchina in [pre-release] macOS High Sierra 10.13.4
I have this problem only when I use the iMacPro1,1 or iMac17,1 smbios. I had this problem since 10.13.2. If I use MacPro6,1 smbios all ports work. I tried editing AppleGraphicsPolicy to none for both models but that didn't work. So far everything works ok on my asrock x299 board. I didn't notice any different cpu p-states when switching smbios-es and sleep works fine.

It’s the drivers. I have the seem problem. Thats why I am trying to get the WX 5100 working until the iMac pro is released and the drivers are stable for Vega.

I had the Asus tuf and also the gigabyte MATX in X99. And that's why I got the gigabyte X299 now
The USB DAC in the gigabyte rocks!

Yesterday I was experimenting and got that same fail to boot when I ticked -XCPM.
There's an Asus fix somewhere in the clover? maybe it's not quite ready for X299?? Maybe it's not needed...
I've noticed less is better with the X299 and almost everything is unticked on my clover. Do need voodooTSC with the cpu thread count minus 1 arg in it's plist.

    <key>VoodooTSCSync</key>
    <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>org.voodoo.driver.VoodooTSCSync</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>org_voodoo_driver_VoodooTSCSync</string> <key>IOMatchCategory</key> <string>VoodooTSCSync</string> <key>IOPropertyMatch</key> <dict> <key>IOCPUNumber</key> <integer>19</integer>   (for my 7900 is 19)
Anyway, good luck with the testing Menno.

I am testing an Asus x299 mobo also atm for a friend. (Tuf mark I). Same problems. The gigabyte was easier. Try to boot verbose, It will show the same allocation error.

It's zipped with macOS. Is this also corrupted?

By the way, I don't use onboard audio or wi-fi. So I removed also everything audio related.

    ciao fabiosun

I did what you suggested and actually removed all of the kernel and kext patches.
As a result now I have full speedstep, my USBs still all work but my sound is no good - I use a USB DAC anyway so don't need the sound. HDMI sound is working without patches.

    Thanks!!! :-)

edit: I've just been playing with an overclock. You know, this platform is amazing!!! No kext or kernel patches, no ssdt or dsdt, just npci 2000 and pretty well only fakesmc in clover.
About as close to a true Apple as I've ever been really, but faster

Try and remove (or disable at boot) the _xcpm_bootstrap patch?

It seems that with the latest build of 10.13 and this EFI (stripped a lot) that power management works.

    Hi Menno,
The vega card went in without a hitch - oob, and is running on 10.13 beta latest, but you're right. The The X299 and i9 is fine, but the vega is slowish. About 95 on cinebench 15 - half as fast as my R9 390x.
Cinebench on windows is better, but still only as fast as the 390x and a bit slower than my old Nano.

The biggest issue is the CPU running at max and averaging 150 watts on 4.5GHz (60 deg under water).
I've run out of time for now and need to design

I tried high sierra because I also have a Vega. I can get it to boot but it was so slow and laggy it was unbearable. There was somerhing horrible wrong. The installer did not have that problem. X299 + i9 is very buggy it seems.

    Well done!!!
This is the first recorded success (in English anyway) of a working X299 hack
Unless my google searching is flawed.
The bits for my system are dribbling in this week and next and I hope to follow your example.
Even better is that I have the exact same motherboard and cpu So I would be interested in your EFI also. You popular man.

Oh, edit:  I had trouble with both of my Dells (34 + 27") until I disabled DP 1.2 on them.

OK. I have educated myself some more in the graphics uefi part . It's very simple. The addon pcie graphics card needs a vbios with UEFI GOP. Sadly my MSI Geforce GTX670/OC doesn't have that. There was a uefi update for my motherboard yesterday that adds UEFI GOP support. If I try to enable 'ultra fast (windows 8 feature which requires UEFI GOP) ' it states that my videocard does not include UEFI GOP. Mailed MSI in the hope they have a hybrid vbios.

I am guessing all the resolution stuff is also handled by this?

lol! I thought -f was working because it booted. Well that's pretty stupid. Did some more tests and it just really random if it boots or hangs. Kernel will just lock up sometimes.. and this is a issue with mountain lion and not lion. Hmm weird stuff. (Have 2 installs)

About the UEFI ROM. I am guessing IF the videocard itself contains an efi rom, it would display the correct resolution? The motherboard uefi will read a PCIe efi compatible rom and load the resolution table? If not it would load the bios compatible (most pc cards) rom and defaults to 1024x768 or lower? I have option in my uefi to to toggle priority on PCIe Cards 'legacy rom' and 'efi rom' if that makes any sense.

I have a 'old' Radeon HD6870 still flashed with an efi extensions. Maybe I'll try that when I have the time.
