  1. I have been trying to get any version of OSx86(10.5 or higher) installed on either of my two machines. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to work with me from start to finish. I have a Kalyway disk that I am trying to install, one machine stops at the root error and the other boots to the installer and I have no mouse and keyboard! Anyone willing?
  2. I have been trying for some time now to figure out how I can get kalyway 10.5 installed on one of my two machines. One is custom built and the other is the Velocity Micro ProMagix system. The VelocitY Micro system always gets the root error, but my other system boots to the installer. I get to the installer screen to select your country and I have no mouse or keyboard functionality. I thought it might be because I have a USB mouse and keyboard plugged into a USB kvm toggling between both systems. But, yesterday I tried a PS/2 mouse and USB Keyboard directly plugged into this system (no the same keyboard and mouse that is in the KVM). What should I try?
  3. Sell - HP iPaq rx5915 w Bluetooth Keyboard

I am selling an HP iPaq rx5915 with an HP Bluetooth Keyboard. Both items are in mint condition and hardly used. When originally purchased the iPaq was $500 and the Bluetooth Keyboard was $120. I will be selling both of them (the iPaq comes with everything included in the box and the keyboard also comes with everything it came with but I don't have a box) for $350 plus the cost of shipping (only shipping in the U.S. if you really want it and are not in the U.S. contact me by PM and we can see if we can figure something out). I do not have pictures right now but I can take them and upload them if someone wants to see. I can not stress enough how both items are in perfect condition. I never used the GPS function and the only thing I ever did on the iPaq is play one of the included games, BubbleBreaker (fun!). Please let me know if you are interested. Thanks!
  4. Still waiting for root device - How do I get around this?

I have been playing around with the BIOS settings for about 2 hours. It still isn't working but I do not know what I am looking for. Any advice?
  5. Still waiting for root device - How do I get around this?

Can anyone with some experience on this topic help us out? I have been playing with BIOS settings, but no difference.
  6. Still waiting for root device - How do I get around this?

Sorry about that and thanks for the reply. I am trying to install it on a 7200 RPM 400GB Hitachi Deskstar which uses SATA.
  7. I have been searching through the forum and have not found a definitive answer to how I shoud I should go about correctig this issue. As the title indicates I am getting the "Still waiting for root devices" error each time I boot the Kalyway DVD. My hardware specs are as follows: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz (e6850) Motherboard: Intel P35 Video Card: eVGA Geforce 8600GTS 256MB RAM: 2 GB Sound: Integrated Monitor: Samsung SyncMaster 226 I can try to get specific things if you let me know what you need. I found this post but at the top it just says to play with the BIOS settings and reboot (http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34938). I have tried finding the settings in BIOS as described in the last few posts here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=85565. I am not sure what else to try. If anyone can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. I would love to get this working!!!
  8. Need to purchase a SATA DVD Drive - Advice

ninetto, I tried what you suggested about altering those items in BIOS: S.M.A.R.T. was enabled I couldn't find the IDE controller setting but my SATA controller w as set to IDE mode CD/DVD was set to first boot device I couldn't find anywhere to disable a parallel port And couldn't find no-execute memory check = enabled Any idea if there are any other names the items I couldn't find would be under? What should I try next?
  9. Need to purchase a SATA DVD Drive - Advice

I do plan to install OSX on the same drive Vista is installed. I was going to post about how to do that as soon as I get the CD to work. Do you know of a good guide for how to do that?
  10. Need to purchase a SATA DVD Drive - Advice

Yea, I think I am going to try your method before I purchase a drive. I will post back here as soon as I got a chance to try it (by tomorrow night). Thanks!EDIT: Also a question... If I follow what you said and do that how will it affect my current Vista install on this machine?
  11. Need to purchase a SATA DVD Drive - Advice

How will it effect my current Vista install? Will I have to do anything to get it working in Vista?
  12. Need to purchase a SATA DVD Drive - Advice

Would I be better off purchasing an IDE to SATA adapter for my current IDE DVD drive? Does anyone have IDE to SATA adapter working for their DVD burner? My current IDE DVD burner is a: 20x Lite On® DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner with LightScribe Labeling Technology, Black
  13. I am having a few issues installing Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 on my Velocity Micro ProMagix system. It has been determined from this post, http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry607091, that I either need to get a IDE to SATA adapter or a SATA DVD drive. I found a SATA DVD Drive on newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106095) that is relatively cheap. I also found this one which isn't too expensive either (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106072) and it is a burner. I was wondering if anyone is using these drives and/or knows about any reason either of them might prove to be an issue. I would like to purcahse the burner but I want to know if there are any issues that anyone knows of first. I am looking for advice and guidance because I am very new to OSx86 and anything Mac related in general. Thanks for your help! Also, if I purchase one of these drives, I plan on installing it on my system while leaving the IDE DVD Burner I currently have intact. Would there be any issues with leaving my current IDE DVD Burner in while having the new SATA drive I plan to purchase? Thanks.
  14. Install Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 Issues

I'll work on that...one question though. I changed the BIOS to AHCI, will I notice anything different in my Vista install because of this? What is AHCI and what does it do?If I purchase this drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827106095 and install it in this machine, can I leave my IDE drive I currently have in there alone and just install off this? I don't mind purchasing this drive but I want to be sure that it will work with my current drive still in. Can anyone help me out?
  15. Install Kalyway Leopard 10.5.1 Issues

My DVD drive is IDE and I set my BIOS to AHCI and it still did the exact same thing. At the end it would just stay at "Still waiting for root device". What next?
