  1. Thanks, the plist file worked for me. All I had to do in addition to adding the file to my existing sparse bundle was delete existing backups within it and reboot.
  2. i get this too on 10.5.6 with an 8800GT. it corrects itself after 10-20 seconds.
  3. MSI Wind or Aspire One

    dell mini 9.
  4. i run osx for everything except games (crysis, COD4). 10.5.x is very polished and apart from the games I have every application i need on a day to day basis. my next laptop will be a MBP...
  5. Anyone else dissapointed with osx?

compare your benchmarks against other similarly spec'd hackintoshs or real macs. if they're not close then try and find out why. lot's of discussions surrounding performance in the hackintosh forums.
  6. latest Vista update killed my hackintosh

thanks, can anyone recommend the best way to fix my EFI. it looks like it's on its own partition at the start of the disk. im running kalyway 10.5.1 vanilla.
  7. I run vista on one HD and OSX on another. Prior to the latest Vista updates my comp was booting OSX on computer startup. Now it boots Vista instead and even if I try and boot off the OSX disk from the bios I get a "root disk not found" error. Any suggestions? Do I need to replace the EFI bootloader? For what it's worth I have time machine backups. Anyone running Vista should be careful...
  8. iPhoto 08

works fine on my intel/ga-p35-ds3l system. I've had two books made so far, love it!
  9. i've got the p35-ds3l and sleep and shutdown work fine, however restart doesn't (it shuts down, but doesn't actually restart). I'm running 10.5.2 - i upgraded kalyway 10.5.1 using the apple update and not kalyway's update. I love sleep (no pun intended) and the instant-on feature is one of the reasons i like osx so much.
  10. mIRC on OSX

One of the apps I missed after switching from XP was mIRC. After years of using mIRC with the XDCCKlipper scripts I was struggling to find a replacement on OSX. I found myself using P2P/Transmission more on OSX but this wasn't a replacement. So yesterday I tried Crossover for Mac and installed the latest mIRC. Worked fine, so I installed the scripts, which also worked fine. Yay
  11. my specs: E2180 @ 3.2 (320 x 100 FSB, mem @ 1066), Gigabyte 8800GT 512 (G92), 2GB 1066 RAM, 3 SATA disk (non-ACPI).understandably you get much higher thread test results (given your quad). your user interface test is higher which may be due to you having more cpu cache and/or 4GB of RAM. your disk is substantially faster though, can you tell me what your setup looks like for this?oh, i just noticed you have a raptor 10k rpm drive...that would do it!

  13. im on the same board as you, a p35-ds3l V2.0 with the F9 beta bios. vcore is set to 1.475 and temps during cpu stress testing max at 65c. im running 10x320 with memory locked at 1066. i'll post the xbench tonight. i've seen this problem mentioned previously with adobe products. im using the default applesmbios and all my adobe cs3 apps work fine, however restart doesn't work for me, but i can live without it as sleep and shutdown work perfectly.
  14. i've got the p182 here. quiet box, but i prefer to mouse the psu at the top than the bottom as most cables only just stretch far enough. also the fan at the bottom between the cpu and hd enclosure makes it a very tight space work in.as for overclocking, im running an e2180 at 3.2ghz on the stock cooler...not too shabby for a very cheap processor.
  15. Aperture 2 hackintosh

i had issues with the 1.5 version of aperture until i updated to 10.5.2 and installed the aperture patch that was then available. works fine now.
