  1. No need for linux, you could possibly install MythTV on the Apple TV version of OSX, with less trouble

No, I heard the ATV interface is a program replacing finder, it's effectively it's finder.app.

Oh, i want an image too, but i'm too busy to play with it, maybe next week i'll download it. I hope it shows up on demonoid by then. Can anybody confirm the presence of the TPM on the machine? just to be sure...

Is Apple TV worth to buy with 480p 4:3 screen?

Apple TV doesn't require a widescreen or HD TV, it just requires component on the TV, it can be a 480i 4:3

EMBIO, Why would apple need SSE3 emulation, it's their software, they can make so it doesn't need SSE3.

The standard OS X wouldn't work, because of the CPU, but a hacked version (for intel with SSE2) without the BIOS hack (probably wouldn't need the TPM workaround either), and maybe with the iTV kernel and/or some of its kexts just might We know that macFabri has an AppleTV, anybody else?

Apple TV - What we know so far.

(from Apple Insider and other places) 1.0GHz Intel Pentium M-based "Crofton" CPU, based on Dothan. model # 7645A966 0159 (SSE2, so many OS X basics to add will probably need to be from hacked binaries we use now) NVIDIA G72M graphics with 64MB DDR2 memory 256MB of 400MHz DDR2 Also, from apple: * TCP port 3689 is used to communicate with iTunes while using the iTunes Library Sharing feature. * UDP port 5353 is used by Apple TV for automatically finding computers with iTunes on your network using Bonjour. * TCP port 80 and 443 are used for basic and secure communications with the iTunes Store via the Internet. Why would the Apple TV need a secure connection to the iTunes Store?

    Apple TV hacked

If a web community has the right stuff for hacking this baby is this site (it used to be crippled media streamer yesterday). There should be a forum dedicated to Apple TV hacking, stuff like make it run different apps, including finder, expanded codec support, taking it's software to any other OS X system, full USB support, things are going to get interesting...

    Greatest Mac in History

I would say the Apple II, but it's not a Mac. I agree that OS X is a giant leap for apple and an Excellent OS, but sticking with actual mac computers, the iMac G4
  14. I for one welcome our new.... wait, I'm genuinely excited. Ok apple, release Leopard and new laptops with better screen resolution to take advantage of resolution independence, just in time for my birthdate. Ok? thanks.
  15. I'm almost certain that OS X on intel can boot from USB. But try to get a drive (or enclosure for a drive) that has Firewire 800 and USB 2.0, that way you can use it at faster speeds, at least when using the MBP.
