  1. I was able to get video by changing out the BIOS on the board to eliminate booting with the BIOS enabled and then turning on force ATI in Clover. However, when I put my Thunderbolt bolt back in the system, the screen stays blank on boot. The system seems to boot just fine, but the screen is blank. I think the system is up and the desktop is there, just not brought forward to the screen. Does anyone have any ideas what I might be able to tweak to get video to work? Thanks!
  2. I am running a Rampage V X99 motherboard with High Sierra. With the help of some knowledgeable people, I am able to get it to work with a Thunderbolt board and an LSI SAS board. However, when I boot into OSX, the LSI board does not work because it is not supported by OSX. I changed out the LSI for the Highpoint 3740A and now when I try to boot, my video goes blank. I think the system is actually booted into OSX, but the screen goes blank. The screen also goes to sleep almost immediately (like after a minute). It goes from having a backlight to just dead. When I hit the space key, it wakes up like it is supposed to, but just goes back to the dark backlit screen until it sleeps again. I have pulled out all boards except the 3740A and my RX480. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this because without video, it's hard to do anything. I have tried to remove the DSDT file to see if it boots, but it does the same thing. Do you think that some sort of video switch in clover might help? I already have NVidia off. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. I do not know if this is a video or a Highpoint issue.

oh boy... I have a problem. I can't boot into High Sierra with the new board even without the DSDT file. Not really sure what to do next. Maybe remove the thunderbolt board and try like that...

MaLd0n: Can I ask for your help yet again? I switched my SAS controller to one that is supported by OSX, but when I switched the boards, it boots fine in Windows and Linux but High Sierra no longer boots. I get a blank screen now. Do you think I need a new DSDT? I assume I have to remove the board so that I can boot and remove the present DSDT and re-install the board and see if it will boot and then send you a new file? Thanks
  6. Yes I did. I installed MacOSX first and that is when I installed Clover. I can't change either the windows or the mac option. I'm trying to more understand the nuts and bolts of how Clover works. Would it make a difference in when Clover was installed as to whether it would let me edit the descriptions? If so, can you explain why? It would be good to know. Thanks
  7. I would like to simply change the name shown under the Clover boot options and am doing something wrong. I believe I have the correct UUID, but I am using APFS and so there are 4 volumes with the same UUID. I tried all four paths but I still have no change in the boot name. I really don't know what more to change. I've got my diskutil list, my diskutil apfs list, my bootlog and I should be able to do this, but just coming up short. Has anyone done this that can help me figure out what I am doing incorrectly?

lol... Well I got most of what I wanted to get done accomplished, but I can't figure out how to change the name of the Clover boot options. I think I did the custom entry in the Clover GUI correctly but it simply does not change the name of the boot option. I've seen many posts on this and it seems pretty straightforward, but it doesn't seem to work for me. I'm pretty sure I've got the right UUID and path, but I've tried 4 or five of them just to see if I had the wrong one. Seems like it should be easy but not for me I guess

ok... This should be easy and it is frustrating to spend so much time on something that really should be quick. With APFS, clover creates a few extra boot options that I would rather hide. I simply can not find a way to hide or remove them. I already have Legacy off in the GUI scan section and it did get rid of 4 options but I still have 3 APFS options that I would like to remove. I looked in the Clover section and could not find exactly what I needed and it would not let me start a new topic there so I'm hoping someone can walk me through this. I actually figured this out and it turns out it is very easy. APFS creates 3 additional volumes. The names are Preboot, Recovery, and VM. Preboot had two Clover entries on my system and Recovery had one Clover entry. If you open up your config file in Clover and go to the GUI section, on the right there is a section where you can add entries to be ignored. Just add two entries, one for Preboot and one for Recovery. They may need to be case sensitive... I'm not sure but that got rid of the entries for me and I only show my bootable operating systems. Took me way longer than it should have but hopefully this might save someone a little time.

ok. I just go into clover and input them into smbios. Is there a better way? Also, do you know what my CPU type should be in Clover?

WOW!!! Finally! With a few kind peoples time and help it boots with TB enabled. Do I need to do anything else MaLd0n? Is seems like everything is working well. My serial number says XX-MASKED-XX which is a little strange, but it works. I don't know how TB works on the Mac. It says that no drivers are loaded so I don't know if that is the way it is until a device is attached or if it is not working properly. I do not have my TB 3 device yet so I can't try it right now. My last problem I will not be able to fix without a driver for the LSI 9361-8i. I don't think this will happen so I will probably have to try the RocketRaid 3740a and sell the LSI if the 3740a works. The LSI is a better board, but without a driver it is not going to work.

I want to be sure I understand. I was able to boot when I removed the DSDT. You want me to put it back in and try to boot again? If that does not work, how do I extract a new one? I will try to put it back in and boot again. I will let you know! MaLd0n It is definitely something with the DSDT. When I put it back in, the system does not boot unless I turn off the TB in BIOS. When I remove the DSDT again, I can but with the TB activated. What does the DSDT do? Is it necessary?

MaLd0n! It booted for the first time with TB active. Under system configuration, it tells me no Thunderbolt drivers are loaded but at least it will boot! I have had another member (fabiosun) helping me and with his help and your help it now boots. Do I need another DSDT or can I use it the way it is?
