  1. Radeon HD5870, not sure if CPU matters but it's 4.5GHz 2600K. And guys, how about cropping the results before attaching! My screenshot is 78KB vs. 2+MB each above.
  2. Radeon HD 5870 / HD 5850

    Yes to both of those.
  3. Radeon HD 5870 / HD 5850

Hi guys, I'm having a little trouble with my 5870 and I hope you can help. It's a reference 5870, looks like that pic. I installed ATY_Init and the kexts from netkas' site. I boot up OK into 10.6.4, but I only get 1024x768 and no QE/CI/3D. System Profiler says 256MB VRAM and no kext loaded. I take it this means my device ID isn't in ATY_Init? How do I put it in myself? Cheers!
  4. Yep, Radeon 4870 in there. I've reinstalled 10.6.0 now and my sound is working! Awesome! I have layout ID = 12 and LegacyHDA.kext with an Info.plist of the same layout id. Output switching even works, although not front mic. From what I hear that's pretty normal? Thanks again!
  5. I'll have a go at reinstalling 10.6 later today. In the meantime, here's my 10.5.7 sound devices screenshots:
  6. Thanks again for all your help, I appreciate it very much. I removed the method from my dsdt.dsl and recompiled. Downloaded HDAEnabler and put #12 in /E/E. Still didn't work unfortunately. I then tried #885, rebuilt caches and restarted, but still no audio devices I'm afraid. On my Leopard disk I have 10.5.7, sound works on that one. In my Leopard /E/E I don't have any sound kexts, and in /S/L/E I have: AppleHDA.kext Apple02Audio.kext AppleAC97Audio.kext AppleAzaliaAudio.kext AppleFWAudio.kext AppleOnboardAudio.kext AppleUSBAudio.kext AudioDeviceTreeUpdater.kext AudioIPCDriver.kext IOAudioFamily.kext SM56KUSBAudioFamily.kext VirtualAudioDriver.kext
  7. Hi again, I changed the layout-id to 885 as you suggested: Device (HDEF) { Name (_ADR, 0x001B0000) Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized) { Return (Package (0x02) { 0x0D, 0x05 }) } Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x0A) { "built-in", Buffer (One) { 0x01 }, "codec-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x85, 0x08, 0xEC, 0x10 }, "layout-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x75, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00 }, "device-type", Buffer (0x10) { "Realtek ALC889A" }, "PinConfigurations", Buffer (0x28) { /* 0000 */ 0x10, 0x90, 0xA1, 0x01, 0x20, 0x90, 0xA1, 0x02, /* 0008 */ 0x80, 0x30, 0x81, 0x01, 0x90, 0x40, 0x21, 0x02, /* 0010 */ 0x30, 0x40, 0x11, 0x01, 0x40, 0x40, 0x01, 0x01, /* 0018 */ 0x50, 0x60, 0x01, 0x01, 0x60, 0x20, 0x01, 0x01, /* 0020 */ 0x70, 0x61, 0x4B, 0x01, 0xA0, 0x01, 0xCB, 0x01 } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } } But unfortunately nothing happened after I restarted (still no sound devices.) I checked the info.plist inside the LegacyKDA.kext and that is also set to 885, although some of the layout-ids inside CodecAddressFilterArray are set to 16392. Is it meant to be like that.
  8. Hey tmongkol, thanks for your help! My DSDT audio section: Device (HDEF) { Name (_ADR, 0x001B0000) Method (_PRW, 0, NotSerialized) { Return (Package (0x02) { 0x0D, 0x05 }) } Method (_DSM, 4, NotSerialized) { Store (Package (0x0A) { "built-in", Buffer (One) { 0x01 }, "codec-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x85, 0x08, 0xEC, 0x10 }, "layout-id", Buffer (0x04) { 0x0C, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00 }, "device-type", Buffer (0x10) { "Realtek ALC889A" }, "PinConfigurations", Buffer (0x28) { /* 0000 */ 0x10, 0x90, 0xA1, 0x01, 0x20, 0x90, 0xA1, 0x02, /* 0008 */ 0x80, 0x30, 0x81, 0x01, 0x90, 0x40, 0x21, 0x02, /* 0010 */ 0x30, 0x40, 0x11, 0x01, 0x40, 0x40, 0x01, 0x01, /* 0018 */ 0x50, 0x60, 0x01, 0x01, 0x60, 0x20, 0x01, 0x01, /* 0020 */ 0x70, 0x61, 0x4B, 0x01, 0xA0, 0x01, 0xCB, 0x01 } }, Local0) DTGP (Arg0, Arg1, Arg2, Arg3, RefOf (Local0)) Return (Local0) } } Right now I have LegacyHDA.kext in /E/E AppleHDA.kext, unpatched 1.7.4a1 in /S/L/E Running 10.6.1 Thanks!
  9. Hi guys, I've tried almost every suggestion and DSDT code patch that I can find without success over the last few hours and so am asking for any guidance or assistance that you can provide. I have a Gigabyte P35 DS3P with ALC889A audio. It works fine in 10.5. Recently I have installed 10.6.1 onto a new hard drive. I have edited my DSDT to fix the RTC, Ethernet and sound as per the guide in the first post but I still don't have any sound (CMOS on restart and ethernet work fine now). I have tried several LegacyHDA kexts, but don't get any sound outputs/inputs listed. I have tried ALC889a.kext, same issue. I've also tried Darwinx86-ALC889-Injector.kext from that french site, and still no outputs or inputs are listed. Am I doing something wrong, not to get any sound at all? Thanks!
  10. A Simple Guide to the 4830/4850/4870/4870x2/4890

I have a dual DVI Radeon 4870 512MB on my hack, which is running 10.5.7. I've got Netkas' driver installed, so I have full resolution change, QE, CI all working. However, I still need the DVI2VGA adaptor plugged in to get the screen to show up, and only one screen is working. How can I fix this last problem, so I can use two monitors again? Thanks.

  12. A Simple Guide to the 4830/4850/4870/4870x2/4890

If you have to use a DVI-VGA adaptor in DVI-2 port, does that mean dual-screens isn't supported right now? Or will dual-screens work but only with 1 of them using DVI and the other as VGA?
  13. I have a problem booting 10.5.1, seemingly with the realtek Ethernet. Just past the mDNSResponder spam, I have these lines: <timestamp> localhost kextd[9]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out while waiting to write kernel symbols rtl_r1000_nic_ext: Ethernet address 00:1a:4d:etc:etc But then nothing happens after that. Got any ideas that I can try?
  14. Repost from yesterday since it ended up being the last reply of the previous page, hopefully it can be answered? ------------- Thanks very much for all your work on this pack!
