  1. PM me if you guys are interested. You can check my signature. Very stable and as vanilla as it gets. :-) I have an upgrade itch. :-)
  2. DSDT Auto-Patcher

Thank you. I will give it a try. While you were working up your magic, I did run your HDEF patch to generate another DSDT. Now the system profiler shows the correct card, but no device in the audio section. I have a feeling your kext will do the trick. I will let you know. You're the bomb! UPDATE: Beautiful! It works now. I had to change the name of the next you sent me from ALC885_889a 2.kext to ALC885_889a.kext. I suppose it was just a typo. Thank you for responding so quickly. Best, Ted
  3. DSDT Auto-Patcher

MaLd0n, Thank you so much for your work. Your DSDT Auto Patcher made my system near perfect running Lion. I am currently using EP45-DQ6 with ALC889A. After installing Lion with Chameleon r1338, everything is working out of box. Truly magical. Sound works great, but only when connect to the digital out. And Internal speaker port and other ports (including the front) are not visible in my system profiler. Also, the audio divice ID says 12 instead of 885. I don't want to mess up my system at this point, and want to see what would be the best way to get all my ports working with patching any kexts. I am attaching my DSDT that I generated using your auto patcher. From your posts, I understand there is a way to inject port layout into DSDT. But, my knowledge is very little when it comes to DSDT patching. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best, Ted DSDT_Sound_Info.zip
  4. 10.7.1 via software update worked!

I have the same 889A. My front ports are not working. I have digital in/out, line in/out, and microphone ports all working. I never paid much attention to the onboard sound as I use MOTU firewire external board for all my in/out for recording (much better sound too). Sleep/reboot/wake all worked fine out of box. Even auto sleep works. One secret I discovered about auto sleep is that any sata/ide peripherals must be apple recognizable devices. I lost sleep over 'auto sleep' and decided to investigate the matter. After clean install, started with bare minimum. MB, OS HD, mouse, keyboard. And started enabling one component at a time. Result? It was my DVD writer. When the computer is about to go to sleep, it communicates with CD/DVD Rom (light flash). At the time, I had a Samsung drive. After a bit of research, I discovered Mac Pro's had Sony DVD writers. I took a chance and ordered the unit (SONY OPTIARC) from new egg, and voila, auto sleep has been working ever since. If you don't want to go that route, you can download a free utility called please sleep. It works great and more customizable. There are a few times that computer will not go to sleep b/c of background processes. I've used the little utility to great success. Let me know if you can get your system to work.
  5. I wanted to go ahead and give my near Vanilla EP45-DQ6 Hackintosh a version up using software update. Everything went like how it would on a real mac. FYI, I used Eliade's guide here to do a clean install. The only deviation from the guide was to use Chameleon 2 RC5 r1338. Using my own DSDT generated by DSDT auto patcher, I didn't need to patch anything. Even audio worked out of box. The only customization I've done was to enable graphics enabler and i386 kernel due to my aging 7600GT card. My 6870 should be here in a couple of days, and I am expecting my system to be a perfect OOB solution. If you had to patch AppleHDA or any GFX kexts, you will have to roll back right after update. Probably better to use a stand alone update, then install patches and kexts before rebooting. It's great to have a system running the latest OSX behaving just like my MBP and iMac at work. In all my years of running a mackintosh, this is the first I can say I've arrived at a true Vanilla system. :-) Hope others are having a similar success.
  6. Gigabyte EP45-DQ6

I've searched the forum for days, and found a few methods. But, can anyone tell me if Kakewalk OSX method will work on this board? Many other EP45 boards are listed as compatible, but I don't see the DQ6. If anyone had any success or know of a simple install package, please let me know.
  7. Will this work on EP45-DQ6? Has anyone had success? Thanks.
  8. Sent you a PM. I have an EP35-DS4 which is a very stable board which can run Vanilla OSX with everything working out of box. Let me know if you are interested.
  9. Help me get some sleep

    Any one please?
  10. Help me get some sleep

Sorry if the title is a bit misleading. I have the most compatible components for hackintosh, and have been running netka's PC EFI, and recently switched to Chameleon V2 RC1. No matter what I use, I cannot seem to get auto sleep to work. I can force the computer to go to sleep, but, computer will not fall asleep on its own. I played with every possible combination of BIOS settings, memory timing, hardware config, and none seems to work. Anyone who has the secret cares to shed some light? Thank you.
  11. Great work! I just switched Chameleon RC1, and it's working great. But, no matter what I do, I cannot get sleep to work during idle. I have the most compatible parts: P35-DS4, nVidia 7600GT, 2 Western Digital HD, 8GB RAM, no overclocking. I never had sleep working even with EFI. I was hoping that doing a clean install would give me this feature, but, sleep works only through manual clicking. I tried enabling auto restart in case of power failure. Anyone has any clue how to get this to work?
  12. For those who have working sleep

Thanks, everyone. I will have to try a different kernel. I think it was working well until I upgraded to 10.5.2. Or it must be some applications that I installed. I will try to disable one at a time and see if I can get the computer to go to sleep "when it gets lonely". :-) Let me know if anyone else has any input.
  13. My sleep works fine if I use the keyboard to put the computer to sleep. But, my hackintosh will not go to sleep on its own even thought I have set the sleep timer in Energy Saver preference pane. For those who have their sleep function working, does your hackintosh go to sleep on its own? I've disabled time machine, and it still doesn't fall asleep. Interestingly, it will go to sleep on its own right after reboot, but once the computer awakes from its first S3 sleep mode, it will stay on no matter what the timer is set to in Energy Saver. Love to hear some feedback on this.
