  1. nForce Sata Workaround

ok, i've been working with this for a while, and here are my findings. will post more sometime tonight. System specs first though. Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Pro Nforce 4 chipset. 200 GB SATA Maxtor HD (Windows XP, NTFS) 40 GB IDE Western Digital HD (OSX, Native Install, Primary Master) 52x Sony CD-RW (Secondary Master) 16x Sony DVD-RW (Secondary Slave) It feels like I've been beating my head against the wall with this, what I have been trying is to use the 40 GB IDE drive for OS and Apps, and the 200 for data since the SATA is not recognizable during DVD boot. Any time I would try to access the drive, it would lock the system up, but a few days ago I tried turning off my Secondary IDE channel, and when I booted into OSX it worked perfectly. I transfered a couple disc images and 20 GB of music without a problem. Tonight, as soon as I find my XP disc, I am going to try installing XP on the 30 GB, then install OSX through VMware on the SATA drive, and put the disc drives on the primary channel afterwards. Dunno how all this is going to work out, but I'll know more in a bit.
  2. Possible Nforce 3 UDMA Fix

I just played with this tonight, and it works wonderfully on 10.4.5. Xbench disk score is 65, up from the 1.5 that it was previously. Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI Pro nForce4 chipset (0x003510de) Incidentally, I was having troubles with the nForce SATA fix when transferring data (wanting to use the sata as a secondary drive). After compiling this, it seems I can transfer things perfectly. Time will tell with this, of course. *Edit* OK, I spoke too soon on the SATA problem... Guess I am stuck with a small drive for a while. *End Edit* Thanks to everyone for your hard work.
  3. Reboot Issues with nForce4

Same here, Gigabyte 8N-SLI-Pro Shutting down is fine, but no hangs on reboot.
  4. I think I can help with this one. I have an MS Keyboard w/ fingerprint reader and wireless mouse. I had the same problem, Mouse would work until I plugged the keyboard in, then the mouse would keep jumping to 0,0 coordinates. I fought it for about a day, then just cleared my kext cache and it worked fine after a reboot. I've talked to a few people who have had the same problems, and it seems to work most of the time. Hope it helps Open terminal sudo -s enter your password kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions/ reboot system if it doesn't help, reply back, I'm sure we can figure something out. *Edit* Sorry, I didn't read all of your posts, didn't realize you were stuck in installation.
  5. Keyboard & mouse prob

I had the same problem last week with a Microsoft Keyboard/Fingerprint Reader and Wireless Optical 2.0. When I plugged the keyboard in, the mouse would return to 0,0 coordinates when I moved it. It worked fine idf I unplugged the keyboard. After a lot of frustration, I tried clearing my kext caches and it worked after a reboot. You might try that. *Edit: Sorry, I didn't see your second post.
  6. Ralink RT2500 chipset PCI beta driver

Link is dead. I don't suppose we could get a repost could we? Edit: ok, maybe I'm just dumb, heh. Copy/Paste the url instead of just clicking the link. Edit again: Yup, that did the trick, works perfectly with Linksys WMP54G v4 on 10.4.3 8F1099
